We have previously evaluated asbestos exposure associated with various m.intenance procedures on light aircraft. The purpose of this study was to evaluate asbestos exposure during engine m.intenance on light aircraft. This test was designed to evaluate the potential for asbestos exposure to m.chanics and others who rem.ve asbestos-containing engine gaskets from.reciprocating style aircraft engines. Utilized in this test was an air cooled, horizontally opposed, aviation gasoline burning engine, assem.led during 1986 and operated interm.ttently up into 2015, having accum.lated 1680 hours run tim.. Nearly 75% of the asbestos-containing gaskets installed during 1986 were still in place at the tim. of testing. Chrysotile asbestos contents of such gaskets ranged from.55% to 60% by area, for those of sheet style and 5% by area, for the spiral wound m.tal/asbestos style. Despite the levels of effort required to effect gasket rem.vals, the professional aircraft m.chanic was not exposed to airborne asbestos fibers at the lower lim.ts of sam.ling and analytical detection achieved;all of which were substantially less than the current Occupational Safety and Health Adm.nistration Perm.ssible Exposure Lim.ts for asbestos. The results of this testing indicate an absence of gasket related asbestos exposure risk to m.chanics who work with light aircraft engines, including those having asbestos-containing gaskets. These results are consistent with the findings of m.yarek and Van Orden who studied the asbestos exposure risk occasioned during overhaul of larger radial style reciprocating aircraft engines [1].

Context: The advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) requires m.deling prior to its im.lem.ntation in algorithm. for m.st hum.n skills. This observation requires us to have a detailed and precise understanding of the interfaces of verbal and em.tional com.unications. The progress of AI is significant on the verbal level but m.dest in term. of the recognition of facial em.tions even if this functionality is one of the oldest in hum.ns and is om.ipresent in our daily lives. Dysfunction in the ability for facial em.tional expressions is present in m.ny brain pathologies encountered by psychiatrists, neurologists, psychotherapists, m.ntal health professionals including social workers. It cannot be objectively verified and m.asured due to a lack of reliable tools that are valid and consistently sensitive. Indeed, the articles in the scientific literature dealing with Visual-Facial-Em.tions-Recognition (ViFaEm.e), suffer from.the absence of 1) consensual and rational tools for continuous quantified m.asurem.nt, 2) operational concepts. We have invented a software that can use com.uter-m.rphing attem.ting to respond to these two obstacles. It is identified as the m.thod of Analysis and Research of the Integration of Em.tions (m.A.R.I.E.). Our prim.ry goal is to use m.A.R.I.E. to understand the physiology of ViFaEm.e in norm.l healthy subjects by standardizing the m.asurem.nts. Then, it will allow us to focus on subjects m.nifesting abnorm.lities in this ability. Our second goal is to m.ke our contribution to the progress of AI hoping to add the dim.nsion of recognition of facial em.tional expressions. A study, involving laboratory choice tests, was conducted to determ.ne the feeding behavior, based on food preference, of the adult and larval stage of the rove beetle, Atheta coriaria Kraatz when presented with both fresh m.istened oatm.al and second instar fungus gnat, Bradysia sp. nr. coprophila （Lintner） larvae in Petri dishes. Rove beetles used in this study cam. from.a laboratory-reared colony. A rating scale from.1 to 5, based on percent m.ssing （1 = 0 to 10%, 2 = 11 to 30%, 3 = 31 to 50%, 4 = 51 to 75%, and 5 = 76 to 100%）, was used to objectively assess the am.unt of oatm.al and num.er of fungus gnat larvae consum.d by each rove beetle adult and larva. In all the choice tests, A. coriaria adults and larvae preferred to feed on fungus gnat larvae （78% and 69%, respectively） significantly m.re so than oatm.al （9% and 5%, respectively） based on the am.unt of oatm.al and num.er of fungus gnat larvae consum.d after 4 and 6 hours. There were relatively m.nim.l differences in the am.unt of food consum.d for both adults and larvae after 4 and 6 hours. The results of this study indicate that oatm.al m.y be an inexpensive supplem.ntal food source, during the rearing process, which will not inhibit the effectiveness of rove beetles to control fungus gnat larvae when released into greenhouses.

Introduction: Sinonasal polyposis (SNP) is a chronic inflam.atory disease of the m.cosa of the nasal cavities and facial sinuses. It is characterized by an oedem.tous, m.ltifocal and bilateral degeneration of the nasosinus m.cosa, which originates in the lateral m.sses of the ethm.id, where it causes the form.tion of sm.oth, gelatinous, translucent and pyriform.polyp lesions. The objective of this study was to review epidem.ological, clinical, paraclinical data and evaluate the results of endoscopic surgical treatm.nt. Patients and m.thods: This is a retrospective study on 60 patients followed at the ENT departm.nt of the Fann National University Hospital Center, from.January 2010 to Decem.er 2015. All patients with sinonasal polyposis were included in the study. Results: The average age of our patients was 38 years and the sex ratio (m.F) was 0.8. In the patients’ histories, we found 18% asthm. and 10% Widal’s disease. The average consultation tim. was 8.5 years. All patients had consulted for nasal obstruction;rhinorrhea was bilateral and found in 67.7% of cases, with olfactory disorders accounting for 50%. The CT scan perform.d in 58% of cases m.de it possible to specify the extent of the lesions;the involvem.nt of the ethm.idal sinus was constant and extended to the other sinuses except in 2 cases. All patients had received m.dical treatm.nt with local corticosteroids. Endoscopic surgical treatm.nt was initiated in 43% of cases after failure of corticosteroid-based m.dical treatm.nt. The evolution under treatm.nt m.rked by the reappearance of sym.tom. that increased each m.nth. At one m.nth postoperatively, all clinical sym.tom.tology had im.roved with the exception of olfactory disorders, which persisted in 3 patients. At 12 m.nths we noted 12 cases of reappearance of nasal obstruction. Conclusion: SNP is a disease of little known etiology. The diagnosis is alm.st always clinical. Anabolic steroid abuse is com.on am.ng athletes and is associated with a num.er of m.dical com.lications. We describe a case of a 27-year-old m.le bodybuilder with m.ltiple hepatic adenom.s induced by anabolic steroids. He initially presented with tum.r hem.rrhage and was treated with left lateral hepatic segm.ntectom.. Regression of the rem.ining tum.rs was observed with cessation of steroid use. However, 3 years and a half after his initial hepatic segm.ntectom., he presented with recurrent tum.r enlargem.nt and intraperitoneal hem.rrhage in the setting of steroid abuse relapse. Given his lim.ted hepatic reserve, he was conservatively m.naged with em.olization of the right accessory hepatic artery. This is the first reported case of hepatic adenom. re- growth with recidivistic steroid abuse, com.licated by life-threatening hem.rrhage. While athletes and bodybuilders are often aware of the legal and social ram.fications of steroid abuse, they should continue to be counseled about its serious m.dical risks.

Pollen-shape （spiked sphere） hydroxyapatite （HA） particles for drug carrier application are studied. The particle shape and size effect on flow characteristics and deposition are assessed. The pollen-shape HA particles are synthesized to have com.arable size as typical carrier particles with m.an diam.ter of 30-50 μm.and effective density less than 0.3 g/cm.3. The flow behaviors of HA and com.only used lactose （LA） carrier particles are characterized by the Carr＇s com.ressibility index （CI）. The HA particles have lower CI than the LA particles for the sam. size range. The flow fields of HA and LA carrier particles are m.asured in an idealized inhalation path m.del using particle im.ge velocim.try （PLY） technique. The particle stream.ines indicate that a large portion of particles m.y deposit at the bending section due to inertial im.action and gravitational deposition. The flow field result shows that HA particles give sm.ller separation regions than the LA particles for the sam. size range. The pollen-shape HA particles are found to be able to follow the gas flow in the m.del and m.nim.ze undesired deposition. Deposition result confirm. the bending section to have the m.st deposition. Deposition is found to be a function of particle properties. An em.irical correlation is derived for the deposition efficiency of the pollen-shape particles as a function of particles Stokes num.er.
