Three-stage pyrolysis–steam reforming–water gas shift processing of household,commercial and industrial waste plastics for hydrogen production

Five common single plastics and nine different household,commercial and industrial waste plastics were processed using a three-stage(i)pyrolysis,(ii)catalytic steam reforming and(iii)water gas shift reaction system to produce *** of plastics produces a range of different hydrocarbon species which are subsequently catalytically steam reformed to produce H_(2)and CO and then undergo water gas shift reaction to produce further H_(2).The process mimics the commercial process for hydrogen production from natural *** of the single polyalkene plastics(high-density polyethylene(HDPE),low-density polyethylene(LDPE),and polypropylene(PP))produced similar H_(2)yields between 115 mmol and 120 mmol per gram *** though PS produced an aromatic product slate from the pyrolysis stage,further stages of reforming and water gas shift reaction produced a gas yield and composition similar to that of the polyalkene plastics(115 mmol H_(2)per gram plastic).PET gave significantly lower H_(2)yield(41 mmol per gram plastic)due to the formation of mainly CO,CO_(2)and organic acids from the pyrolysis stage which were not conducive to further reforming and water gas shift reaction.A mixture of the single plastics typical of that found in municipal solid waste produced a H_(2)yield of 102 mmol per gram *** the gas yields and composition from the single plastics enabled an estimation of the yields from a simulated waste plastic mixture and a‘real-world’waste plastic mixture to be *** different household,commercial and industrial waste plastic mixtures produced H_(2)yields between 70 mmol and 107 mmol per gram *** H_(2)yield and gas composition from the single waste plastics gave an indication of the type of plastics in the mixed waste plastic samples.

Medical Internet of Things(MIoTs)is a collection of small and energyefficient wireless sensor devices that monitor the patient’s *** healthcare networks transmit continuous data monitoring for the patients to survive them *** are many improvements in MIoTs,but still,there are critical issues that might affect the Quality of Service(QoS)of a *** handling is one of the critical factors that directly affect the QoS of the *** congestion in MIoT can cause more energy consumption,delay,and important data *** a patient has an emergency,then the life-critical signals must transmit with minimum *** emergencies,the MIoTs have to monitor the patients continuously and transmit data(e.g.,ECG,BP,heart rate,etc.)with minimum ***,there is an efficient technique required that can transmit emergency data of high-risk patients to the medical staff on time with maximum *** main objective of this research is to monitor and transmit the patient’s real-time data efficiently and to prioritize the emergency *** this paper,Emergency Prioritized and Congestion Handling Protocol for Medical IoTs(EPCP_MIoT)is proposed that efficiently monitors the patients and overcome the congestion by enabling different monitoring *** the emergency data transmissions are prioritized and transmit at SIFS *** proposed technique is implemented and compared with the previous technique,the comparison results show that the proposed technique outperforms the previous techniques in terms of network throughput,end to end delay,energy consumption,and packet loss ratio.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Quality of Life in King Abdulaziz Medical City

Background: Health Related Quality of life (HRQOL) assessment is an important outcome to measure Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of IBD in patients’ quality of life in King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh. Methods: This is a cohort study of 32 patients with IBD who were given the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire (IBDQ) in the outpatient clinic at King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh during the study period of three months in 2014. Results: In a comparison between patients who have Ulcerative Colitis (UC) in contrast to Crohn’s Disease (CD), we found that the mean score for the IBDQ were 170.94 and 149.69 respectively. The worst score was 65 in CD and the highest was 224 in UC. Comparing the subdivisions of the IBDQ it was found that the bowel and systemic domains were affected mostly by the disease. Conclusion: Inflammatory bowel disease has a major impact on HRQOL of patients in different aspects. CD group has worse HRQOL than UC group. The total score was impacted mostly by the systemic and bowel domains in the IBDQ. Saudi patients were more affected by the disease compared to other countries.

AIM:To share the results of a national screening program for amblyopia in school children in the north of ***:This is a prospective national screening study for *** program rolls first and second-grade children(6 to 7 years old) in the north of *** eye examination included:best-corrected visual acuity,cover-uncover test,and cycloplegic *** visual acuity was tested using an ETDRS visual acuity chart without ***,children were tested with full cycloplegic refraction when the test criteria were *** amblyopia was defined as a best-corrected visual acuity difference of 2 or more *** comparison,bilateral amblyopia was defined as a best-corrected visual acuity of 20/40 or worse in the best ***:The prevalence of amblyopia for the total sample tested(n=17 203) was 2.78%(n=479).The most common cause of amblyopia was hypermetropia(64.45%),followed by previous ocular surgeries(15.1%),myopia(10.43%),strabismus(9.39%),and congenital cataract(0.63%).CONCLUSION:This is the first and only study,identifing modifiable risk factors in Jordanian children with *** their first couple of years of elementary education,many Jordanian children are affected by amblyopia and pass unnoticed.A more governmental effort is needed into screening programs to improve vision in the Jordanian population.
