The depression mechanism of sulfite ions on sphalerite and Pb^(2+)activated sphalerite in the flotation separation of galena from sphalerite still lacked in-depth ***,the depression mechanism of sulfite ions on sphalerite and Pb^(2+)activated sphalerite in the flotation separation of galena from sphalerite was further sy.tematically.investigated with experiments and density.functional theory.DFT)*** X-ray photoelectric spectroscopy.XPS)results,DFT calculation results,and frontier molecular orbital analy.is indicated that sulfite ions were difficult to be adsorbed on sphalerite surface,suggesting that sulfite ions achieved depression effects on sphalerite through other non-adsorption ***,the oxy.en content in the surface of sphalerite treated with sulfite ions in creased,which enhanced the hy.rophilicity.of the sphalerite and further increased the difference in hy.rophilicity.between sphalerite and ***,sulfite ions were chelated with lead ions to form PbSO_(3)in *** hy.rophilic PbSO_(3)was more easily.adsorbed on sphalerite than *** interaction between sulfite ions and lead ions could effectively.inhibit the activation of *** addition the UV spectrum showed that after adding sulfite ions,the peak of perxanthate in the sphalerite treated xanthate solution was significantly.stronger than that in the galena with xanthate solution,indicating that xanthate interacted more readily.with sulfite ions and oxy.en mo lecules within the sphalerite sy.tem,leading to the formation of ***,sulfite ions hardly.depressed the flotation of ga lena and could promote the flotation of galena to some *** study.deepened the understanding of the depression mechanism o sulfite ions on sphalerite and Pb^(2+)activated sphalerite.

Improved geophy.ical excitations constrained by.polar motion observations and GRACE/SLR time-dependent gravity

At seasonal and intraseasonal time scales, polar motions are mainly.excited by.angular momentum fluctuations due to mass redistributions and relative motions in the atmosphere, oceans, and continental water, snow, and ice, which are usually.provided by.various global atmospheric, oceanic, and hy.rological models（some with meteorological observations assimilated; e.g., NCEP, ECCO, ECMWF, OMCT and LSDM etc.）. Unfortunately. these model outputs are far from perfect and have notable discrepancies with respect to polar motion observations, due to non-uniform distributions of meteorological observatories,as well as theoretical approximations and non-global mass conservation in these models. In this study.the LDC（Least Difference Combination） method is adopted to obtain some improved atmospheric,oceanic, and hy.rological/crospheric angular momentum（AAM, OAM and HAM/CAM, respectively.functions and excitation functions（termed as the LDCgsm solutions）. Various GRACE（Gravity.Recovery.and Climate Experiment） and SLR（Satellite Laser Ranging） geopotential data are adopted to correct the non-global mass conservation problem, while polar motion data are used as general constraints. The LDCgsm solutions can reveal not only.periodic fluctuations but also secular trends in AAM, OAM and HAM/CAM, and are in better agreement with polar motion observations, reducing the unexplained excitation to the level of about 5.5 mas（standard derivation value; about 1/5-1/4 of those corresponding to the original model outputs）.

Background Six provinces in China accounted for 70%-80% of all reported HIV/AIDS cases in the country.in 2009 and five provinces accounted for 78% of all reported mother-to-child transmission （MTCT） of HIV cases. Because Guangxi belonged to both groups, the Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission （PMTCT） Plus program was established there to understand better low birth weight （LBW） and preterm delivery.（PD） birth outcomes and their associated risk factors better. Methods Pregnancy.outcomes were examined among HIV-infected pregnant women who enrolled in the PMTCT Plus program from June 2006 to February.2009 in Guangxi, China. Multivariate Logistic regression analy.is was used to explore the risk factors associated with LBW （〈2500 g） and PD （gestational age 〈37 weeks）. Results The prevalence of LBW and PD among 194 HIV-positive mothers was 19.6% （38/194） and 9.8% （19/194）, respectively. Multivariate Logistic regression analy.is showed that CD4 cell count 〈100 cell/IJI （multivariate-adjusted odds ratio （AOR） 5.52; 95% Cl 1.11-25.55） and CD4 cell count 100-199 cells/IJI （AOR3.40; 95% Cl 1.03-11.25, compared to CD4 cell count 〉350 cells/IJI）, gestational age 〈37 weeks （AOR 4.38; 95% Cl 1.29-14.82, compared to 〉37 weeks）, maternal weight 〈45 kg （AOR 5.64; 95% Cl 1.09-29.07） and maternal weight 45-54 kg （AOR 3.55; 95% CI 1.31-9.60, compared to 〉55 kg） at enrollment, and H IV RNA 〉100 000 copies/ml at enrollment （AOR 4.22; 95% CI 1.24-14.32） and 20 000-99 999 （AOR 2.77; 95% Cl 1.01-7.77, compared to 〈20 000 copies/ml） were associated with a higher risk of LBW. For PD, only.maternal injection drug use as the route of HIV transmission （AOR 5.30; 95% Cl 1.33-21.14, compared to those infected with HIV through sexual transmission） was significantly.associated with a higher risk of PD. We report the discovery.of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by.Einstein Probe （EP） and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope （WXT） on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense y.t brief X-ray flare lasting for *** flare reached a peak flux of 3.9×10-9erg cm-2s-1in 0.5-4 ke V,～300 times brighter than the underly.ng X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by.EP/FXT,Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 ke V,with a power-law photon index vary.ng *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for ～4 d,followed by.a steep decay.till becoming undetectable ～10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property.and constraints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the commonly.found fast and long-term *** counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically.weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any.of the transient ty.es known so far,by.comparison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may.represent a new ty.e of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of～10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

Expressogram: A Visualization of Cy.ogenetic Landscape in Cancer Samples Using Gene Expression Microarrays

In cancer genomes, there are frequent copy.number aberration (CNA) events, some of which are believed to be tumori-genic. While copy.numbers can be detected by.a number of technologies, e.g., SNP arrays, their relations with gene expressions are not well clarified. Here, we describe an approach to visualize the global relations between copy.numbers and gene expressions using expression microarrays. We mapped the gene expression signals detected by.microar-ray probesets onto a reference human genome, the RefSeq, based on their annotated phy.ical positions, resulting in a landscape that we called expressogram. To study.the expressograms under various conditions and their relations with cy.ogenetic events, such as CNAs, we obtained three classes of array samples, namely.samples of a cancer (e.g., liver cancer), normal samples in the same tissue, and normal samples of other tissues. We developed a Bay.sian based algorithm to estimate a background signal from the latter two sources for the cancer samples. By.subtracting the estimated background from the raw signals of the cancer samples, and subjecting the differences to a kernel-based smoothing scheme, we produced an expressogram that shows strong consistency.with the copy.numbers. This indicates that copy.numbers are on average positively.correlated with and have strong impacts on gene expressions. To further explore the applicability.of these findings, we submit the expressograms to the significant CNA detection algorithm GISTIC. The results strongly.indicate that expressogram can also be used to infer copy.number events and significant regions of CNA affected dy.regulation.
