Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of thulium fiber laser(TFL)and holmium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet(Ho:YAG)laser for ureteric stone management with semi-rigid ***:In a prospective study from January 2020 to December 2021,we compared 40 patients in each group who underwent semi-rigid ureteroscopic lithotripsy with TFL and that with Ho:YAG *** volume,stone density,stone fragmentation rates,total lasing time,total operative time,endoscopic vision,retropulsion and stone free rates were analyzed in both groups and ***:Mean stone volume was comparable in the TFL group and the Ho:YAG laser group(282.45[standard deviation,SD 139.79]mm3 vs.279.49[SD 312.52]mm3;p=0.964).Mean stone density was also comparable in the TFL group and the Ho:YAG laser group(1135.30[SD 317.04]Hounsfield unit vs.1131.75[SD 283.03]Hounsfield unit;p=0.959).The mean stone fragmentation rates calculated as stone volume divided by lasing time were 25.85(SD 10.61)mm3/min and 21.37(SD 14.13)mm3/min in the TFL group and the Ho:YAG laser group,respectively(p=0.113).The mean total lasing time(10.15[SD]4.69 min vs.11.43[SD 4.56]min;p=0.222),mean operative time(25.13[SD 9.51]min vs.25.54[SD 10.32]min;p=0.866),and mean total hospital stay(2.62[SD 0.77]days vs.2.61[SD 0.84]days;p=0.893)were comparable in the TFL group and in the Ho:YAG *** vision was better and retropulsion was less in the TFL *** stone-free rate at 1 month postoperatively was slightly better in the TFL group(100%vs.90%;p=0.095).

Objective:To prospectively follow up a cohort of anterior urethral stricture disease patients managed with balloon dilation(bD)for 3 years to evaluate the long-term outcomes and to study factors that contribute to ***:This study included men who had urethral bD for significant anterior urethral stricture disease between January 2017 and March *** about the patient age,stricture characteristics,and recurrence date were recorded,along with information on postoperative indwelling catheter use and operative ***,information about the self-calibration procedure was collected and where available,free flow(FF)measurements during the follow-up period were recorded and *** was defined as a lack of symptoms and acceptable FF rates(maximum flow rate>12 mL/s).Results:The final analysis was conducted on 187 *** mean follow-up period was 37 *** long-term overall success rate at the end of our study was 66.8%.Our recurrence rate was 7.4%at 12 months,24.7%at 24 months,and reached 33.2%at the end of our *** time to recurrence ranged from 91 days to 1635 days,with a mean of 670 *** stricture-free survival was significantly shorter with lengthy peno-bulbar(p=0.031)and multiple strictures(p=0.015),and in the group of patients who were not committed to self-calibration protocol(pbration was the most important factor that may have decreased the incidence of recurrence(odds ratioZ5.85).Adjuvant self-calibration after bD not only reduced the recurrence rate from 85.4%in the non-self-calibration group to 15.1%in the self-calibration one(pbut also improved the overall stricture-free survival and FF parameters.

Dear editor,“Ureteric stump syndrome(USS)”is a rare entity(incidence 0.8%–1.0%)with left-over in situ distal-ureter being the culprit[[1],[2],[3]].The presentation may be recurrent urinary tract infection(UTI),flank/abdominal pain,or hematuria[1,4].Although only few of the patients require intervention(approximately 1.1%–10%)[[1],[2],[3]],either with open excision of the stump[[1],[2],[3]]or via minimally invasive endoscopic approach[5,6],prompt diagnosis is often *** simple nephrectomy,dilemma exists whether to consider concomitant total ureterectomy to eliminate the future risk of USS[4],or to consider subtotal-ureterectomy along with nephrectomy[[1],[2],[3]].In this letter,we present a retrospective analysis of clinical presentation,diagnostic approach,and management of three patients of USS(Table 1)treated at our centre and try to solve all these dilemmas.

Complex renal calculi remain to be a challenge for the treating urologist due to sheer bulk and the technicalities *** nephrolithotomy(PCNL)remains the treatment modality of choice in dealing with these large and complex *** limiting factor in their treatment continues to be the need for using additional tracts or the use of flexible nephroscopy for complete stone *** systematic review focuses on the need for multi-tract PCNL for complex renal *** literature review was performed using PubMed database using the keywords“multiple tract PCNL”or“multiperc”.We identified original articles published on the usage of multiple tracts for stone clearance in renal calculi between January 2000 to October 2018,and the search was restricted to available literature in English language *** studies with n>20 were included for the final *** analyzed the technical efficacy with respect to the number of tracts and stages that were required for stone clearance,outcomes and complications,especially,procedural bleeding and post-procedure infective complications of multiple-tract PCNL for large burden renal *** is found to be safe,feasible and effective for the management of large burden complex renal calculi with respect to stone clearance and morbidity associated with the *** is cost effective and complete stone clearance as a single procedure is higher in comparison to flexible ureteroscopy and shockwave lithotripsy.

Objective:To evaluate the safety,efficacy and feasibility of laser with suction device in mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy(mini-PCNL).Methods:A retrospective study was conducted including 200 patients who underwent mini-PCNL for renal *** patients underwent PCNL using Electro-Medical Systems *** addition to the laser in 100 patients,a suction device was used(laser with suction[LWS]).In the other 100,suction device was not used(laser with no additional suction[LOS]).Mini-PCNL was performed using standard technique and Karl Storz minimally invasive PCNL-medium system was *** end point was stone ***:both the groups were comparable in terms of demographic *** stone size was 15.24±5.90 mm and 16.16±5.53 mm in LWS and LOS,*** Hounsfield unit of stone was 1285.64 and 1206.79 in LWS and LOS,*** time was less in LWS group(56.89±19.65 min)as compared to LOS(62.01±28.81 min).At one-month follow-up,radiological complete clearance was 96%in LWS and 92%in *** subgroup analysis of stones larger than 18 mm,the clearance rate was in favour of LWS(85.7%vs.100%)and also the need for nephrostomy placement was less in LWS ***:LWS device is safe and efficacious when used with *** stones greater than 18 mm,it has a better stone free rate as compared to using no suction.

Empirical relationship was developed to predict the fatigue life of gas metal arc welded （GMAW） cruciform joints failing from root region. High strength, age hardenable aluminium alloy of AA7075-T6 grade was used as the base material. The design of experiments concept was used to optimize the required number of fatigue testing experiments. Fatigue experiment was conducted in a servo hydraulic controlled fatigue testing machine under constant amplitude loading. The empirical relationship was developed. by using the developed empirical relationship, the fatigue life of GMAW cruciform joints failing from root region was predicted at 95% confidence level. The effect of cruciform joint dimensions on fatigue life was discussed in detail.

This review seeks to examine the extreme response of isolated somatic plant cells of apical meristematic tissues of mature conifer trees towards specific stress conditions in vitro resulting in somatic embryo- genesis. Signal molecules regulating embryo development have been described in angiosperms, but very little is known about somatic rejuve- nation in conifers. Recent studies on cloning of mature conifers provide new perspectives on signal molecules on cellular dedifferentiation into the embryogenic pathway. Our recent studies show that signal molecules such as butenolide, calcium ions, salicylic acid, antioxidants, amino acids triacontanol and 24-epibrassinolide all play an important role in the con- version of somatic cells into an embryogenic pathway in many recalcitrant pines. This constitutes a major breakthrough in forest biotechnology with many practical applications in clonal forestry.
