Dirofilariasis (heartworm disease) has been.reported in.Gren.dian.dogs. The aim of this cross-section.l study was to determin. the prevalen.e of Dirofilaria immitis in.stray dogs (n.= 523) from the six Parishes of Gren.da. n.cropsy records were reviewed;in.ormation.on.the distribution.an. lesion. of Dirofilaria immitis was recorded. A total of 144 from 523 dogs (27.5%;95% CI: 23.9% to 31.5%) were positive for Dirofilaria immitis on.n.cropsy. This study shows that heartworm disease is prevalen. in.stray dogs in.all the Parishes of main.an. Gren.da. This is a progressive, life-threaten.n. disease an. thus, there is a n.ed to screen.an. preven. it within.the stray dog population.of Gren.da.

Tran.missible ven.real tumor (TVT) is a widely reported tran.plan.able tumor in.dogs, with n. breed or sex predilection.an. with a low metastatic rate. This retrospective study con.ucted from 2005 an. 2011 sought to evaluate the total n.mber of TVT cases, an. to report extragen.tal TVT lesion. in.dogs from the small tropical islan. of Gren.da, West In.ies. Evaluation.of the biopsy an. n.cropsy specimen. from dogs with TVT was carried out by cytological an. histopathological methods. In.the presen. study, we observed a total of 78 dogs with TVT, comprisin. 40 male an. 38 female dogs. Most cases were from dogs between.3 an. 6 years;less frequen.ly from older dogs (over 6 years) or youn.er dogs (1 - 2 years of age). In.the presen. study, we report 15 cases (19.2%) of dogs with TVT in.extragen.tal sites. Tumors were n.ted in.the n.sal cavity, eye orbit, spleen. liver, skin. ribs, subcutan.ous, an. subman.ibular, cervical an. in.uin.l lymph n.des. There was also eviden.e of metastasis to the ovaries in.2 dogs. The most in.erestin. fin.in. was the presen.e of extragen.tal lesion. without primary gen.tal in.olvemen. in.4 cases (5.1%). Our fin.in.s emphasize the n.ed to con.ider TVT on.the list of differen.ial diagn.sis for masses in.extragen.tal sites in.dogs from geographic region. where TVT is prevalen..

Evaluation.of Sen.itivity an. Positive Predictive Values of Cytopathologic Diagn.sis of Solid Masses in.Dogs

In.this retrospective study, a total of 275 solid masses were examin.d for cytopathologic diagn.sis. Twen.y four percen. (67/275) of these cytologic samples were followed by surgical biopsy an. histopathologic diagn.sis, allowin. for comparison.. On.average, the cutan.ous an. subcutan.ous solid masses were recogn.zed when.the dogs were aged between.6 an. 9 years old. The origin. of the solid masses in.luded con.ective tissue tumors 37.1% (23/62), epithelial tissue tumors 33.9% (21/62), roun. cell tumors 19.4% (12/62), masses of in.lammatory lesion. 4.8% (3/62) an. lesion. due to other causes 4.8% (3/62). The sen.itivity an. positive predictive value (PPV) of cytopathology in.the diagn.sis of solid masses were 93% (62/67) an. 97% (62/64), respectively. Gen.rally, n.o-plasms were over diagn.sed by cytopathology as was in.icated by the positive predictive value. Both the sen.itivity an. the PPV of cytopathology comparative to histopathology in.the diagn.sis of in.lammatory processes were 100% (3/3). The in.lammatory lesion. were even.ually con.irmed as n.crotizin. myositis, n.cro-suppurative cystitis an. en.ocrin. in.lammatory dermatopathy based on.histopathology. Less than.8% (5/67) of samples were in.orrectly diagn.sed by cytology. The study showed high accuracy between.cytological an. histopathological examin.tion.of solid masses in.dogs, an. thus a reliable diagn.stic tool in.patien. care.

山体滑坡是尼泊尔山区的主要灾害,主要是由于其脆弱的地貌、强烈的降雨、不当的土地管理和在修建山区道路过程中没有采取必要的稳定措施所导致的。由于频繁的山体滑坡,下游地区人类的生命财产遭受了巨大损失,并导致生态系统生产力和功能下降,河道泥沙淤积。土地利用与土地覆被、地形、道路、排水、地质环境和降雨等多种空间因素与滑坡的发生紧密相关,并决定了该地区滑坡的易感性。了解滑坡现象及其引发的相关因素,对于采取适当的预防、控制和恢复措施至关重要。本研究在尼泊尔桑科西河流域的新格地子流域进行,旨在了解滑坡危害、引发的相关因素以及为最大限度地减少可能的危害而采取的最佳预防策略。滑坡评估是通过使用时序谷歌影像和实地调查,对滑坡体进行识别和数字化来进行的。利用GIS软件对滑坡危险性进行评估,编制影响因子图,并对现场观测数据进行分析的基础上,计算了滑坡的规模。此外,在相关家庭的问卷调查(n.60)中,进行目的性抽样,探讨人们对山体滑坡、对生计资产的主要影响因素的看法。并采用Friedman.参数检验评估滑坡对当地人感知的最主要影响因素。根据现场调查,在研究区域的不同位置共调查了46处滑坡体,滑坡总面积为4.77km^(2)。通过使用Friedman.验的比较矩阵分析,本研究确定了滑坡发生的主要原因是农村道路、施工、边坡因素、降雨和土地利用与土地覆被。距离道路200-500 m造成最高比率的滑坡灾害,东南方向坡度30°-45°的山体对滑坡的易感性最高。与其他土地利用相比,因为在林内松软地区修建道路,茂密的森林更易受到山体滑坡的影响。比较道路建设前后滑坡的影响,约80%的受访者认为对滑坡有重要影响。
