Selective pressures have given.rise to a n.mber of SARS-CoV-2 varian.s durin. the prolon.ed course of the COVID-19 pan.emic. Recen.ly evolved varian.s differ from an.estors in.addition.l glycosylation.within.the spike protein.receptor-bin.in. domain.RBD). Details of how the acquisition.of glycosylation.impacts viral fitn.ss an. human.adaptation.are n.t clearly un.erstood. Here, we dissected the role of n.54-lin.ed glycosylation. acquired by BA.2.86 sub-lin.ages, as a RBD con.ormation.l con.rol elemen. in.atten.atin. viral in.ectivity. The reduced in.ectivity is recovered in.the presen.e of heparin.sulfate, which targets the‘n.54 pocket’ to ease restriction. of con.ormation.l tran.ition.resultin. in.a ‘RBD-up’ state, thereby con.errin. an.adjustable in.ectivity. Furthermore, n.54 glycosylation.improved spike cleavage an. cell–cell fusion. an. in.particular escaped on. subset of ADCC an.ibodies. Together with reduced immun.gen.city in.hybrid immun.ty backgroun., these in.icate a sin.le spike amin. acid glycosylation.even. provides selective advan.age in.human. through multiple mechan.sms.

A n.w bacterial strain.DMT-7 capable of selectively desulfurizin. diben.othiophen.（DBT） was isolated from diesel con.amin.ted *** DMT-7 was characterized an. iden.ified as Lysin.bacillus sphaericus DMT-7（n.BI Gen.an. Accession.***496620） usin. 16S rDn. gen. sequen.e *** desulfurized product of DBT,2-hydroxybiphen.l（2HBP）,was iden.ified an. con.irmed by high performan.e liquid chromatography an.lysis an. gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy an.lysis *** desulfurization.kin.tics revealed that DMT-7 started desulfurization.of DBT in.o 2HBP after the lag phase of 24 hr,expon.n.ially in.reasin. the accumulation.of 2HBP up to 15 days leadin. to approximately 60% desulfurization.of the ***,further growth resulted in.o DBT *** in.uced culture of DMT-7 showed shorter lag phase of 6 hr an. early on.et of station.ry phase within.10 days for desulfurization.as compared to that of n.n.in.uced culture clearly in.icatin. the in.ucibility of the desulfurization.pathway of *** addition.Lysin.bacillus sphaericus DMT-7 also possess the ability to utilize broad ran.e of substrates as sole source of sulfur such as ben.othiophen.,3,4-ben.o DBT,4,6-dimethyl DBT,an. 4,6-dibutyl ***,Lysin.bacillus sphaericus DMT-7 could serve as model system for efficien. biodesulfurization.of diesel an. petrol.

The presen. study explores the in.situ fabrication.of chitosan.poly(vin.l alcohol)-silver n.n.composite films in.view of their in.reasin. application. as an.imicrobial packagin., woun. dressin. an. an.ibacterial materials. The reduction.of silver ion. in.o silver n.n.particles (Agn.s) is achieved in.acidic solution.of chitosan.(C) an. poly (vin.l alcohol) (PVA) usin. their fun.tion.l groups (-OH, -COOH, -n.2 groups). The presen.e of silver n.n.particles in.the chito-san.PVA film is con.irmed by UV-Vis spectroscopy, Fourier Tran.form In.rared (FTIR) spectroscopy an. X-ray Dif-fraction.(XRD) an.lysis. The Scan.in. Electron.Microscopic (SEM) images illustrate the presen.e of embedded silver n.n.particles throughout the films. In.addition. the formed silver n.n.particles have an.average particle size of ~ 16.5 n. as observed by Tran.mission.Electron.Microscopy (TEM). The an.i-microbial an. an.i-fun.al activity of the chitosan.PVA silver n.n.particle films have demon.trated sign.fican. effects again.t Escherichia coli (E. coli), Pseudomon.s, Staphylococcus, Micrococcus, Can.ida albican., an. Pseudomon.s aerugin.sa (P. aerugin.sa). To improve further their therapeutic efficacy as an.i-microbial agen.s, curcumin.en.apsulated chitosan.PVA silver n.n.composite films are developed which showed en.rmous growth in.ibition.of E. coli compared to curcumin.an. chitosan.PVA silver n.n.particles film alon..
