Thermoelectrics are a promising solution to the recovery of some of the 60%of the worldwide energy wasted as ***,their conversion efficiency is low and the best performing materials are brittle,toxic,and made of expensive *** challenge in developing better performing materials is in disrupting the electrical vs thermal conductivity correlation,to achieve low thermal conductivity simultaneously with a high electrical *** nanotubes allow for the decoupling of the electronic density of states from the phonon density of states and this paper shows that flexible,thin films of double-walled carbon nanotube(DWCNT)can form effective n-and p-doped semiconductors that can achieve a combined Seebeck coefficient of 157.6µV K^(−1),the highest reported for a single DWCNT device to *** is achieved through selected surfactant doping,whose role is correlated with the length of the hydrocarbon chain of the hydrophobic tail group of the surfactant’s *** functionalized with Triton X-405 show the highest output power consisting of a single junction of p-and n-type thermoelectric elements,reaching as high as 67 nW for a 45 K temperature *** enabling flexible,cheaper,and more efficient thermoelectric generators through the use of functionalized CNTs.

We introduce the notions of implicative ideals and fuzzy implicative ideals of a distributive implication groupoid. Some properties of these ideals will be investigated. In particular, the necessary and sufficient conditions for an ideal(fuzzy ideal) to be an implicative ideal(fuzzy implicative ideal) is given. By using the concept of level sets, we will characterize the fuzzy implicative ideals of a distributive implication groupoid. Finally, an extension property for fuzzy implicative ideals is given.

Objective:To evaluate the significance of Eustachian tube(ET)angles and ET pretympanic diameter on high resolution computed tomography(HRCT)Temporal bone in patients with chronic otitis media(COM).Methods:A retrospective study was carried out at Tertiary care *** A included 92 ears with COM(38 patients with bilateral COM and 16 with unilateral COM);and Group B included 108 normal ears(54 patients with bilateral normal ears).Reid plane-ET angle,Tubotympanic angle and the ET pretympanic diameter was evaluated by HRCT temporal bone,and compared in the two *** with chronic otitis media(Group A)were subdivided into Group A1(Blocked ET)and Group A2(patent ET).The parameters were evaluated and compared in the subgroups ***:The mean Reid plane-ET angle and Tubotympanic angle in Group A was 25.412.57 and 148.123.43 respectively;whereas in Group B it was 27.563.62 and 145.144.34 *** plane-ET angle was significantly less in patients with COM and Tubotympanic angle was significantly more obtuse in COM *** pretympanic diameter was(5.372.10)mm in Group A and(6.472.40)mm in Group *** was significantly less in patients with COM.A significant correlation was found between the ET patency and the two ET parameters(Reid plane-ET angle and pretympanic diameter).Conclusions:Eustachian tube angles in adults may play a significant role in the etiology of chronic otitis *** in Reid plane-ET angle and pretympanic diameter on HRCT temporal bone can be used to predict ET dysfunction and to plan the surgical management of chronic otitis media.

Thin films of CdS have been prepared by chemical spray pyrolysis by spraying precursor solution directly onto soda lime glass（SLG） substrates. Influence of substrate temperature on structural, optical, morphological and electrical properties have been investigated by using various techniques such as low angle X-ray diffraction（XRD）, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XpS）, field emission scanning electron microscopy（FESEM）, atomic force microscopy（AFM）, transmission electron microscopy（TEM）, UV–visible spectroscopy photoluminescence（pL） spectroscopy etc. Formation of CdS has been confirmed by low angle XRD,Raman spectroscopy and XpS analysis. XRD pattern showed that CdS films are polycrystalline, have hexagonal structure and prefer orientation of crystallites shifts from（101） to（002） with increase in substrate *** spectroscopy revealed that exciton-phonon coupling depends on substrate temperature and hence on crystallite size. Optical band gap increased from 2.43 to 2.99 eV when substrate temperature increased from 325 to 475 ℃. Transmittance of the film also showed an increasing trend from 52% to 80% with increase in substrate temperature. Such high band gap and transmittance values of CdS films prepared at 475℃ make it a useful window material in CdS/CdTe and CdS/Cu_2S heterojunction solar cells.

The present article deals with filtration of seawater to remove sodium chloride(NaCl)using filter made from organized structures of carbon nanotubes(CNTs).The filter consists of hollow carbon cylinder(length~10 cm,diameter~1 cm),which is composed of radially aligned *** carbon hollow cylinder has been synthesized by continuous spray pyrolysis of ferrocene–benzene solution in argon *** hollow cylinder has been turned into a water filter by closing one end and keeping a small funnel at the *** of seawater(Marina Beach,Chennai,India)has been obtained both under the self pressure of seawater column in the hollow cylinder and under the difference of pressure created by enclosing the filter in a vacuum tight *** has been found that the efficiency of filtration is about two times higher under partial vacuum(~10–2 torr)created on the filtrate(water)*** filtration of seawater,a deposit in the inner surface of hollow cylinder has been *** deposit has been characterized by X-ray diffraction,transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis,and it has been found that the deposit was *** filtration leads to almost complete removal of NaCl from the seawater.

Impact of Germination on Biochemical and Antioxidant Enzymes of Ceiba pentandra (Kapok) Seeds

Changes in biochemical components and the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), peroxidase (pOD), glutathione peroxidase (Gpx) and ascorbate oxidase (AO) in germinating and non-germinating seeds of Ceiba pentandra were evaluated in the present study. Results show that the levels of proteins and total soluble sugars are high and reducing sugars and free amino acids are low in non-germinating seeds whereas the contrary was observed in 4 days old germinating seeds. Enzymatic antioxidants like SOD, CAT, pOD, Gpx and AO showed enhanced activities during seed germination. Our findings indicate that three days after germination of Ceiba pentandra seeds, their palatability significantly improve. The nutritive utilization of protein and carbohydrates along with efficient participation of antioxidant mechanisms, including the synergistic activities of the different types of SOD, CAT, pOD, Gpx and AO, might play an important role during seed germination. The conclusion of this inquiry is that the germinating seeds can serve as natural antioxidant agents, setting ahead the possibility of employing them for therapeutic purposes.

The failure of insulators under DC voltages is due to various factors like thermal runaway,ion migration,anode growth,surface erosion,cement growth etc..However,the rate of failure is higher in polluted zones where surface erosion and puncturing of insulators due to ion migration can ***,insulators have to be subjected to accelerated aging tests to simulate ion migration and to check their capability to withstand the *** runaway is also an important *** carrying out Thermal runaway test at higher temperature,it may be possible to identify the good *** paper presents the work carried out in order to asses the quality of DC insulators by Thermal runaway tests,Ion-migration tests and the measurement of the body resistance of the *** voltage and temperature were varied during these tests in order to clearly identify the good *** result will be useful for the design of insulators for the HVDC transmission system.
