Encapsulated black garlic: Comparison with black garlic extract in terms of physicochemical properties, biological activities, production efficiency and storage stability

In this paper, the convenience of encapsulation technique was investigated in terms of characterization of capsule, changing the volatile compounds and preservation biological activity throughout six months for black garlic (BG) by comparison with the aqueous extract which prepared from BG (stored at 4 °C) each analysis period. Besides, the genotoxic and antigenotoxic aspects of aqueous black garlic extract (BGE) and black garlic capsule (BGC) developed as a novel promising product were also researched. The S-allyl-L-cysteine (SAC) content, which is mostly known to be responsible for biological activity, was preserved in BGC during six months. The variety of volatile compound of BGC (2 compounds) was significantly reduced compared to BG (17 compounds) and BGE (7 compounds), which indicates that the extraction and encapsulation traps the undesirable odor. A significant decrease was observed for total phenolic content and antioxidant capacity (performed with DPPH and CUPric Reducing Antioxidant Capacity (CUPRAC)) of BGC with storage like BGE. In contrast, the values obtained with the ABTS method remained constant with storage. The antimicrobial activity (carried out on five Gram-positive bacteria, three Gram-negative bacteria and three yeasts) of BGC was preserved better than BGE. The treatment concentrations (50, 100, 200 μg/mL) of both BGE and BGC did not have a genotoxic effect and moreover they have antigenotoxic effects against mitomycin C on human lymphocyte cells. All these results implied that BGC can be good a candidate to increase the consumption of BG providing health benefits and functional supplement for food.

Exact Solutions to (3+1) Conformable Time Fractional Jimbo–Miwa,Zakharov–Kuznetsov and Modified Zakharov–Kuznetsov Equations

Exact solutions to conformable time fractional (3+1)-dimensional equations are derived by using the modified form of the Kudryashov method. The compatible wave transformation reduces the equations to an ODE with integer orders. The predicted solution of the finite series of a rational exponential function is substituted into this *** resultant polynomial equation is solved by using algebraic operations. The method works for the Jimbo–Miwa, the Zakharov–Kuznetsov, and the modified Zakharov–Kuznetsov equations in conformable time fractional forms. All the solutions are expressed in explicit forms.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of heat treatment on decorative properties including glossiness,color coordinates including lightness(L),blue-yellow(b^(*))and red-green(a^(*)),hardness(shore-D)morphological characterization and thermal properties of some exotic wood *** treatment of anigre(Aningeria altissima),cedrorana(Cedrelinga catenaeformis),cemara(Casuarina sumatrana)and coronilla(Scutia buxifolia)wood materials were performed in an oven with a programmable controller at 210°C for 3 *** obtained samples were conditioned in a climate cabin and the decorative properties,morphological characterization with scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and thermal properties with thermogravimetric analyzer(TGA)of the obtained samples were *** test results showed that color got darker with heat treatment,specifically L and b^(*)decreased,and a^(*)increased for anigre and cedrorana but a^(*)decreased for cemara and *** glossiness for all samples generally increased from 20°to 85°but heat treatment decreased the *** density generally decreased with heat treatment and decrease ratio in the density was found to be in range from 5.6%to 10.6%.According to the SEM analysis,some cracks,pit aspiration and layer decomposition in the micro level of the wood structure were *** showed that heat treatment makes thermally more stable *** a result,it can be said that heat treatment improved the decorative properties of the exotic wood.

Dark Soliton Solutions of Space-Time Fractional Sharma–Tasso–Olver and Potential Kadomtsev–Petviashvili Equations

Dark soliton solutions for space-time fractional Sharma–Tasso–Olver and space-time fractional potential Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equations are determined by using the properties of modified Riemann–Liouville derivative and fractional complex transform. After reducing both equations to nonlinear ODEs with constant coefficients, the tanh ansatz is substituted into the resultant nonlinear ODEs. The coefficients of the solutions in the ansatz are calculated by algebraic computer computations. Two different solutions are obtained for the Sharma–Tasso–Olver equation as only one solution for the potential Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation. The solution profiles are demonstrated in 3D plots in finite domains of time and space.

Ameliorative effects of bombesin and neurotensin on trinitrobenzene sulphonic acid-induced colitis,oxidative damage and apoptosis in rats

AIM:To investigate the effects of bombesin (BBS) and neurotensin (NTS) on apoptosis and colitis in an ulcerative colitis model. METHODS:In this study, a total of 50 rats were divided equally into 5 groups. In the control group, no colitis induction or drug administration was performed. Colitis was induced in all other groups. Following the induction of colitis, BBS, NTS or both were applied to three groups of rats. The remaining group (colitis group) received no treatment. On the 11th d after induction of colitis and drug treatment, blood samples were collected for TNF-α and IL-6 level studies. Malondialdehyde (MDA), carbonyl, myeloperoxidase (MPO) and caspase-3 activities, as well as histopathological findings, evaluated in colonic tissues. RESULTS:According to the macroscopic and microscopic findings, the study groups treated with BBS, NTS and BBS + NTS showed significantly lower damage and inflammation compared with the colitis group (macroscopic score, 2.1 ± 0.87, 3.7 ± 0.94 and 2.1 ± 0.87 vs 7.3 ± 0.94;microscopic score, 2.0 ± 0.66, 3.3 ± 0.82 and 1.8 ± 0.63 vs 5.2 ± 0.78, P < 0.01). TNF-α and IL-6 levels were increased significantly in all groups compared with the control group. These increases were significantly smaller in the BBS, NTS and BBS + NTS groups compared with the colitis group (TNF-α levels, 169.69 ± 53.56, 245.86 ± 64.85 and 175.54 ± 42.19 vs 556.44 ± 49.82;IL-6 levels, 443.30 ± 53.99, 612.80 ± 70.39 and 396.80 ± 78.43 vs 1505.90 ± 222.23, P < 0.05). The colonic MPO and MDA levels were significantly lower in control, BBS, NTS and BBS + NTS groups than in the colitis group (MPO levels, 24.36 ± 8.10, 40.51 ± 8.67 and 25.83 ± 6.43 vs 161.47 ± 38.24;MDA levels, 4.70 ± 1.41, 6.55 ± 1.12 and 4.51 ± 0.54 vs 15.60 ± 1.88, P < 0.05). Carbonyl content and caspase-3 levels were higher in the colitis and NTS groups than in control, BBS and BBS + NTS groups (carbonyl levels, 553.99 ± 59.58 and 336.26 ± 35.72 vs 209.76 ± 30.92, 219.76 ± 25.77 and 220.34 ± 36.95

Glass fibre reinforced concrete placement technique generates losses due to rebound effects of the already sprayed concrete *** concrete amount cause a significant difference between the initial mix design and emplaced mix *** from the structural differences,it comes with a cost increase which was resulted by the splashed concrete *** factors such as viscosity and quantity of mixes dominate this rebound amount in sprayed glass fibre reinforced concrete applications depending on production technologies and processes;however,this research focuses on the spray distance and the angle of the spray gun which mainly effects the rebound amount in glass fibre reinforced concrete *** paper aims to understand the required angle and distance for glass fibre reinforced concrete mixes having on-site plastic viscosity *** fibre reinforced mixtures were also modelled with a finite element method based software and,the analysis results were compared with production line *** of the analysis and on-site studies showed a decisive correlation between,discharge distance,discharge angle and the viscosity of the concrete.

Arrhythmogenic epilepsy and pacing need: A matter of controversy

There is increasing awareness among the cardiology community regarding ictal bradyarrhythmias as a cause of loss of consciousness. A high degree of suspicion is necessary when diagnosing ictal bradyarrhythmias, and delay in diagnosing this condition may lead to morbidity associated with falls and trauma. Ictal bradyarrhythmias have also been suggested to be associated with sudden unexplained death in epilepsy, although evidence related to this association is limited. There is no guidelinedirected therapy for symptomatic ictal bradyarrhythmias due to a lack of randomized, controlled trials. Cardiac pacemaker therapy is commonly used for these patients; however, currently, there is no universal agreement on the pacing indications for these patients. In this review, we focus on the pathophysiology and clinical presentation of ictal bradyarrhythmias and then discuss the pacing need based on the available literature data.

Pneumatosis intestinalis(PI)is an uncommon disease defined as gas-filled cysts that are found in the wall of the gastrointestinal(GI)*** exact causes of PI are still unclear,but it may associated with coexisting diseases,such as some GI disorders,connective tissue disease,some medication and drugs,and rarely *** most common localization is the small *** PI secondary to malignancy has been rarely *** report on a 94-year- old man with gastric PI associated with inoperable adenocarcinoma localized in the *** the gastrojejunostomy and choledochojejunostomy bypass,his general condition improved and PI disappeared,but he died due to poor performance status and malignancy 6 mo *** suggest that in patients presenting with PI,malignancy should be considered in the differential diagnosis.
