Fungi are an understudied,biotechnologically valuable group of *** to the immense range of habitats that fungi inhabit,and the consequent need to compete against a diverse array of other fungi,bacteria,and animals,fungi have developed numerous survival *** unique attributes of fungi thus herald great promise for their application in biotechnology and ***,fungi can be grown with relative ease,making production at scale *** search for fungal biodiversity,and the construction of a living fungi collection,both have incredible economic potential in locating organisms with novel industrial uses that will lead to novel *** manuscript reviews fifty ways in which fungi can potentially be utilized as *** provide notes and examples for each potential exploitation and give examples from our own work and the work of other notable *** also provide a flow chart that can be used to convince funding bodies of the importance of fungi for biotechnological research and as potential *** have provided the world with penicillin,lovastatin,and other globally significant medicines,and they remain an untapped resource with enormous industrial potential.

A fungus similar to the monotypic genus Natarajania,isolated from dead wood and collected in Thailand,is *** of partial ribosomal LsU and a protein coding gene(RPB2)demonstrated that the new isolate belonged to stilbosporaceae,Diaporthales and genetically different from *** is unique in producing synnematous conidiophores,smooth-walled conidiogenous cells and a flared collarette but lacks an elongated collar-canal which is distinct in the type ***,sequence data and morphological traits are used to introduce the new species,Natarajania thailandica.

Intermediate hyperglycemia in early pregnancy:A south Asian perspective

“Intermediate hyperglycemia in early pregnancy(IHEP)”refers to mild hyperglycemia detected before 24 gestational weeks(GW),satisfying the criteria for the diagnosis of gestational diabetes *** professional bodies recommend routine screening for“overt diabetes”in early pregnancy,which identifies a significant number of women with mild hyperglycemia of undetermined significance.A literature search revealed that one-third of GDM women in south Asian countries are diagnosed before the conventional screening period of 24 GW to 28 GW;hence,they belong in the IHEP *** hospitals in this region diagnose IHEP by oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT)using the same criteria used for GDM diagnosis after 24 *** is some evidence to suggest that south Asian women with IHEP are more prone to adverse pregnancy events than women with a diagnosis of GDM after 24 GW,but this observation needs to be proven by randomized control *** plasma glucose is a reliable screening test for GDM that can obviate the need for OGTT for GDM diagnosis among 50%of south Asian pregnant ***1c in the first trimester predicts GDM in later pregnancy,but it is not a reliable test for IHEP *** is evidence to suggest that HbA1c in the first trimester is an independent risk factor for several adverse pregnancy *** research to identify the pathogenetic mechanisms behind the fetal and maternal effects of IHEP is strongly recommended.

Fungal diversity notes is one of the important journal series of fungal taxonomy that provide detailed descriptions and illustrations of new fungal taxa,as well as providing new information of fungal taxa *** article is the 11th contribution to the fungal diversity notes series,in which 126 taxa distributed in two phyla,six classes,24 orders and 55 families are described and *** in this study were mainly collected from Italy by Erio Camporesi and also collected from China,India and Thailand,as well as in some other European,North American and south American *** described in the present study include two new families,12 new genera,82 new species,five new combinations and 25 new records on new hosts and new geographical distributions as well as sexual-asexual *** two new families are Eriomycetaceae(Dothideomycetes,family incertae sedis)and Fasciatisporaceae(Xylariales,sordariomycetes).The twelve new genera comprise Bhagirathimyces(Phaeosphaeriaceae),Camporesiomyces(Tubeufiaceae),Eriocamporesia(Cryphonectriaceae),Eriomyces(Eriomycetaceae),Neomonodictys(Pleurotheciaceae),Paraloratospora(Phaeosphaeriaceae),Paramonodictys(Parabambusicolaceae),Pseudoconlarium(Diaporthomycetidae,genus incertae sedis),Pseudomurilentithecium(Lentitheciaceae),setoapiospora(Muyocopronaceae),srinivasanomyces(Vibrisseaceae)and Xenoanthostomella(Xylariales,genera incertae sedis).The 82 new species comprise Acremonium chiangraiense,Adustochaete nivea,Angustimassarina camporesii,Bhagirathimyces himalayensis,Brunneoclavispora camporesii,Camarosporidiella camporesii,Camporesiomyces mali,Camposporium appendiculatum,Camposporium multiseptatum,Camposporium septatum,Canalisporium aquaticium,Clonostachys eriocamporesiana,Clonostachys eriocamporesii,Colletotrichum hederiicola,Coniochaeta vineae,Conioscypha verrucosa,Cortinarius ainsworthii,Cortinarius aurae,Cortinarius britannicus,Cortinarius heatherae,Cortinarius scoticus,Cortinarius subsaniosus,Cytospora fusispor
