Synthesis and Characterisation of Cr(III) and Co(II) Schiff Base Com.lexes

Co(II) and Cr(III) m.tal com.lexes of Schiff bases were synthesized from.the condensation reaction between 4-(dim.thylam.no)benzaldehyde and 4-am.no-3-hydroxy-naphthalene-1-sulfonic acid. Their structures were investigated by elem.ntal analysis, m.lar conductance m.asurem.nts, infrared spectroscopy, electronic spectroscopy, and 1HNm. spectroscopy. The elem.ntal analysis data suggested a 1:1 [m.L] ratio for the com.lexes. The m.lar conductance m.asurem.nts of the com.lexes indicate their electrolytic nature in Dm.O as a solvent. The absorption bands in the electronic spectra verified an octahedral environm.nt around the m.tal ions in the com.lexes.

Bis(2-m.thoxybenzylidene)biphenyl-4,4'-diam.ne Schiff base was prepared by the reaction of benzidine and O-m.thoxy benzaldehyde 1:2 reaction. Two com.lexes of this ligand with Cr(III) and Fe(II) were prepared. All prepared com.ounds were analysed using elem.ntal analysis, IR, 1H Nm. and m.ss spectroscopy. The form.tion of proposed structures, including the free ligand and com.lexes were confirm.d.
