Soil amendments containing carbonized materials increase the soil carbon reservoir,influence plant productivity,and,ultimately,help to clean the *** is data on the effect of such additions on soil physicochemical properties or plant growth,but few studies have focused on how these carbonized materials are distributed by termite species in the soil *** is the first comprehensive study of the transportation of biochar(BC)by termite species under tropical environmental conditions in *** present study was carried out to test the hypothesis that if termite species I)were involved in the distribution of biochar particles II)if yes,then how far these particles were transported during the study period(10 days)and III)check their preference between the enriched BC(EBC)and non-enriched *** was enriched with the cattle slurry after its pyrolysis in the *** results showed that EBC particles were significantly more widely distributed than non-enriched BC particles,but both types of BC were transported more than 4 cm(ring 4)within 10 days(at the end of the experiment).The current study also revealed that EBC was easily attached to the setae,cuticle,and legs of termites,implying that it could potentially be transported over a greater ***,transportation of EBC over larger distances indicated a potential preference of termite species between the EBC and BC *** the study,however,the preference among the termite species was also *** the prevailing study conditions,the Coptotermes heimi and Heteroterme indicola species transported the EBC further than microtermes obesi and Odontotermes *** findings revealed that transportation preferences were observed among the four termite *** conclusion,the current study found that termites were involved in the distribution of BC particles,with a preference for EBC and that these have the potential to transport BC particles more than 4 cm within 10 da

Syngnathia, congenital fusion of the mandible and maxilla, is a rare anomaly. We describe fiberoptic intubation of the trachea whilst controlling the airway with a nasal tube. A simple modification of this technique, previously described in the management of the difficult pediatric airway [1], simplifies the procedure with less potential for complications.

Features of the Conductivity of the Ag₈Ge_1-xmn_xTe₆ Solid Solutions

Samples of Ag8Ge1-xmnxTe6 solid solutions with different manganese content (x = 0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2) were prepared by fusing and further pressing their powders under the pressure of 0.6 GPa. In addition of mn atoms to the Ag8GeTe6 compound leads to compression of their lattice. All p-type samples acquire a high resistance below the transition at temperatures of 180 - 220 K. The electrical conductivity of all compositions in the range of 220 - 300 K increases due to hopping mechanism, and at temperatures T > 320 K, a semiconductor characteristic is observed. By studying impedance spectra of samples, it was established that at 80 K solid solutions behave like a homogeneous dielectric material. At high temperatures and frequencies of an external electric field, a significant role of grain boundaries in conductivity was revealed. The dielectric anomaly occurring at low frequencies is also associated with an effect that manifests itself in the grain boundary.

Determination of the Chemical Structure of the Iraqi Oil Shale and Its Hydrocarbon Forms

The global impact of shale oil has revolutionized the world’s energy markets, resulting in significantly lower oil prices, higher global gross domestic product, changing geopolitics and shifted business models for oil and gas companies. Further and developed research initiative is required to fill critical gaps in knowledge at the interface of shale oil development along with environmental protection, so countries can prepare better for its energy future. This paper explores the characterization of Iraqi originated oil shale using various analytical techniques, such as mass spectrometry (mS), infrared spectroscopy (IR), and Gas Chromatography mass Spectrography (GC/mS). Based upon analytical results, it is found that the majority of chemical structure is in aliphatic hydrocarbon forms.

A novel continuous plastic process employed on AZ31 mg alloy called closed forging extrusion(CFE)was *** optical microscopy,scanning electron microscopy,electron back-scatter diffraction and tensile and compressive tests were employed to investigate the microstructure evolution and strengthening *** results indicated that the CFE-process can promote dynamic recrystallization(DRX),eliminate the coarsen unDRXed grain regions,refine the grains effectively,and improve the strength,plasticity and anisotropy of the *** grain refinement was mainly attributed to the stress,which facilitated the nucleation of recrystallization and refined the microstructure via the *** fully DRXed ultrafine grained structure improved the strength and plasticity *** 60 s closed forging and continuous extrusion,the alloy exhibits relatively high TYS,UTS,CYS,elongation and yield asymmetry of 305 mPa,337 mPa,295 mPa,27%and 0.97,respectively.

Bayesian and Frequentist Prediction Using Progressive Type-II Censored with Binomial Removals

In this article, we study the problem of predicting future records and order statistics (two-sample prediction) based on progressive type-II censored with random removals, where the number of units removed at each failure time has a discrete binomial distribution. We use the Bayes procedure to derive both point and interval bounds prediction. Bayesian point prediction under symmetric and symmetric loss functions is discussed. The maximum likelihood (mL) prediction intervals using “plug-in” procedure for future records and order statistics are derived. An example is discussed to illustrate the application of the results under this censoring scheme.

Estimation Based on Progressive First-Failure Censored Sampling with Binomial Removals

In this paper, the inference for the Burr-X model under progressively first-failure censoring scheme is discussed. Based on this new censoring were the number of units removed at each failure time has a discrete binomial distribution. The maximum likelihood, Bootstrap and Bayes estimates for the Burr-X distribution are obtained. The Bayes estimators are obtained using both the symmetric and asymmetric loss functions. Approximate confidence interval and highest posterior density interval (HPDI) are discussed. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the proposed estimation methods developed here. The maximum likelihood and the different Bayes estimates are compared via a monte Carlo simulation study.

Estimation of Generalized Pareto under an Adaptive Type-II Progressive Censoring

In this paper, based on a new type of censoring scheme called an adaptive type-II progressive censoring scheme introduce by Ng et al. [1], Naval Research Logistics is considered. Based on this type of censoring the maximum likelihood estimation (mLE), Bayes estimation, and parametric bootstrap method are used for estimating the unknown parameters. Also, we propose to apply markov chain monte Carlo (mCmC) technique to carry out a Bayesian estimation procedure and in turn calculate the credible intervals. Point estimation and confidence intervals based on maximum likelihood and bootstrap method are also proposed. The approximate Bayes estimators obtained under the assumptions of non-informative priors, are compared with the maximum likelihood estimators. Numerical examples using real data set are presented to illustrate the methods of inference developed here. Finally, the maximum likelihood, bootstrap and the different Bayes estimates are compared via a monte Carlo simulation study.

Correlation of magnetoresistance and Thermoelectric Power in La1-xLixmnOy Compounds

The temperature dependences of the thermoelectric power, TEP, (S) and magnetoresistance (mR) effect of La1-xLixmnOy (x = 0.05, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2 & 0.25 at %) fixed valence doped compounds were studied between 80K and 320K. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) showed that the samples are single phase. We found the correlation of structures to the mag-netoresistance (mR) and the thermoelectric power (S) which we assigned to change the specific branches of the magnon /phonon spectra with x. We also observed a splitting of the Curie and the metal insulating temperature TC > Tms.

Characterization of Water melon (<i>Citrullus lanatus</i>) Genotypes under High Salinity Regime

For horticultural crops and especially for vegetables, salinity is dilemma. It is the most limiting factor for plant growth and development by producing reactive oxygen species and ultimately oxidative stress. In the present study, the screening of watermelon (Citrullus lanatus Thanb. mavs.) Cultivars was observed for salt tolerance. Four salinity levels (1.5, 3, 4.5, and 6 dS·m-1 NaCl) and six cultivars (Crimson, Charleston Gray, Anarkali, Chairman, Sugar Baby and Champion) tested for screening. It was observed that all morphological attributes and ionic contents were severely affected. But it was revealed by statistical analysis that Charleston Gray was affected least while Champion was most salt sensitive cultivar due to oxidative stress and ionic toxicity. It is concluded that different genotypes under consideration vary in their ability to tolerate salt stress.
