Vitamin D&vitamin D receptor(VDR)signaling play a very crucial role in early embryonic heart *** construct this case-control study to investigate the association between maternal serum vitamin D level&VDR gene Fok1 polymorphism and risk of congenital heart defects(CHD)in *** mothers who had term neonates with CHD were considered as *** age-comparable healthy mothers who had neonates without CHD were contemplated as *** serum 25 hydroxyvitamin D[25(OH)D]level was tested using *** VDR gene Fok1 polymorphism was analyzed using PCR-based *** was a significant decrease in maternal vitamin D level(P=0.002)and a significant increase in vitamin D deficient status(P=0.007)among cases when compared to *** gene Fok1 genotypes distribution frequency were in accordance with Hardy Weinberg equilibrium(HW)among controls.A significant increase in VDR gene Fok1 F/f&f/f genotypes and f allele were observed in cases compared to controls with estimated odds ratio(95%confidence interval)&P-value of 3(1e8)&P=0.006,11(1e97)&P=0.01 and 3(2e6)&P=0.001 *** was a significant decrease in maternal vitamin D level in neonates with cyanotic CHD(P=0.000)compared to those with a cyanotic CHD while there was no significant difference in VDR Fok1 genotype(P=0.18)&allele(P=0.05)distribution between two *** concluded that maternal vitamin D deficiency and VDR gene Fok1 F/f,f/f genotype and f allele were associated with increased risk of CHD in offspring.

This paper presents an analytical solution for the interaction of electric potentials, electric displacements, elastic deformations, and thermoelasticity, and describes electromagnetoelastic responses and perturbation of the magnetic field vector in hollow structures （cylinder or sphere）, subjected to mechanical load and electric potential. The material properties, thermal expansion coefficient and magnetic permeability of the structure are assumed to be graded in the radial direction by a power law distribution. In the present model we consider the solution for the case of a hollow structure made of viscoelastic isotropic material, reinforced by elastic isotropic fibers, this material is considered as structurally anisotropic material. The exact solutions for stresses and perturbations of the magnetic field vector in FGm hollow structures are determined using the infinitesimal theory of magnetothermoelasticity, and then the hollow structure model with viscoelastic material is solved using the correspondence principle and Illyushin＇s approximation method. Finally, numerical results are carried out and discussed.

Composites are composed of multiphase materials, where each phase has specific properties that differ from those of the other phases which can effect on the whole properties of composite. Nanocomposites are class of materials that contain at least one phase in the nanometric size range and can be produced by any suitable technique for preparing nanomaterials. Composites are an interesting class of materials that have recently been used in numerous applications, including structural, biomedical, electronics, and environmental applications. In composites, reinforcements might be fibers, particulates, or whiskers. mechanical alloying(mA) is a promising technique for producing nanocomposite materials that are difficult or impossible to prepare via conventional techniques. In this review, we provide an overview of nanocomposites prepared by the mA process. The mechanism of milling and other milling parameters are overviewed, and insights into sintering categories and parameters are also presented.

This paper presents a fast adaptive iterative algorithm to solve linearly separable classification problems in R *** each iteration,a subset of the sampling data （n-points,where n is the number of features） is adaptively chosen and a hyperplane is constructed such that it separates the chosen n-points at a margin and best classifies the remaining *** classification problem is formulated and the details of the algorithm are ***,the algorithm is extended to solving quadratically separable classification *** basic idea is based on mapping the physical space to another larger one where the problem becomes linearly *** illustrations show that few iteration steps are sufficient for convergence when classes are linearly *** nonlinearly separable data,given a specified maximum number of iteration steps,the algorithm returns the best hyperplane that minimizes the number of misclassified points occurring through these *** with other machine learning algorithms on practical and benchmark datasets are also presented,showing the performance of the proposed algorithm.

We report a simple-to-perform technique to investigate the distribution of the azimuthal magnetic field induction,Bθ,and the induced magnetic force acting on the plasma current sheath(PCS)in a plasma focus(PF)*** in situ measurement technique can undoubtedly be beneficial when other fast-imaging techniques are not *** are not *** work was conducted in the low-energy mather-type EAEA-PF1 device operated in *** axial distribution(Bθ)z along the coaxial electrodes system was measured with a four magnetic-probe set technique at different radial distances(r=2.625×10^(−2) to 4.125×10^(−2) m)within the annular space between the coaxial electrodes during the 1st and 2nd half cycles of the discharge current waveform,where inner electrode of coaxial electrode system has a+ve polarity and−ve polarity,***,radial and total magnetic force distribution profiles were estimated from Bθ*** of PCS shape in terms of its inclination(curvature)angle,θ,along the axial rundown phase and the correlation between the magnetic forces per unit volume acting on the PCS,the inclination angleθof the PCS,and the formation of a powerful PF action during the 1st and 2nd half cycles is carried *** of inclination angle,θ,on total magnetic force per unit volume acting on PCS axial motion was studied,separately,during the 1st and 2nd half cycles.

This paper presents an analytical solution for the interaction of electric potentials,electric displacement,elastic deformations,and describes hygrothermal effect responses in hollow and solid cylinders,subjected to mechanical load and electric *** solutions for displacement,stresses and electric potentials in functionally graded piezoelectric material are determined using the infinitesimal *** material properties coefficients of the present cylinder are assumed to be graded in the radial direction by a power law *** examples display the significant of influence of material *** is interesting to note that selecting a specific value of inhomogeneity parameter can optimize the piezoelectric hollow and solid cylinders responses,which will be of particular importance in modern engineering designs.

Squamous cell carcinoma metastatic to cervical lymph nodes from unknown primary origin:the impact of chemoradiotherapy

The management of cervical lymph node metastases of squamous cell carcinoma from an unknown primary site is still a therapeutic *** report here our experience in treating these patients with chemoradiotherapy as a curative *** from 40 patients were *** total,20(50%) patients underwent excisional *** patients underwent radiotherapy,which was delivered to both sides of the neck and pharyngeal mucosa(extensive field),and concurrent chemotherapy consisting of weekly cisplatin at a dose of 40 mg/*** clinical stage of the cervical nodes at presentation was N1 in 25%,N2 in 60%,and N3 in 15%.most patients(75%) developed at least grade 3 *** patients(20%) had grade 3 xerostomia and 18 patients(45%) required esophageal dilation for *** 5-year overall survival(OS) rate of all patients was 67.5%.The 5-year OS rates of patients with N1,N2,and N3 lesions were 100%,67%,and 41%,respectively(P = 0.046).The 5-year progression-free survival rate was 62.5%.In multivariate analysis,only N stage significantly affected OS(P = 0.022).Emergence of the occult primary was very limited(1 patient only).Our results suggest that extensive irradiation of both sides of the neck and pharyngeal mucosa with concurrent chemotherapy results in a lower emergence of primary *** the survival of patients with unknown primary is comparable to that of patients with known primary,an attempt at cure should always be made.

This paper presents a scalar volt per hertz(V/f)control technique for maximum power tracking of a grid-connected wind-driven brushless doubly fed reluctance generator(BDFRG).The proposed generator has two stator windings namely;power winding,directly connected to the grid and control winding,connected to the grid through a bi-directional *** order to enhance the performance of the proposed scalar-control strategy,a soft starting method is suggested to avoid the over-current of the bi-directional ***,the capability of generator speed estimation for sensorless control is also *** capability of the proposed scalar-control technique is validated using a sample of simulation *** addition,the presented simulation results ensure the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy for maximum wind-power extraction under windspeed ***,the results show that the estimated generator speed is in a good accordance with the actual generator speed which supports sensorless control capability.

Rudists(Bivalvia) from a Cretaceous Platform in Northern Egypt: Taxonomy and Paleobiogeography

New well-preserved rudist materials come from the Barremian–Turonian marine formations in the Yelleg, minsherah, maaza, and Raghawi sections in North Sinai, northern Egypt. There, 17 discovered rudist species belonging to 13 genera and seven taxonomic families are described in detail as follows: Eoradiolites plicatus(Conrad), Eoradiolites liratus(Conrad), Praeradiolites ponsianus(d'Archiac), Archaeoradiolites sp., Bournonia africana Douvillé, Bournonia fourtaui Douville, Biradiolites lombricalis(d'Orbigny), Biradiolites zumoffeni Douville, Radiolites lewyi lewyi Parnes, Radiolites sauvagesi(d'Hombres-Firmas), Durania arnaudi(Choffat), Toucasia carinata(matheron), Toucasia sp., Neocaprina raghawiensis Steuber and Bachmann, Sellaea sp., Ichthyosarcolites sp. and Horoiopleura sp.. The Cenomanian deposits in the northern Eastern desert of Egypt only contain E. liratus. The domination of the Cenomanian rudist species in North Sinai, however, is attributed to changes in the platform, which passes mainly from carbonate in the north to siliciclastics in the south. The presence of Horiopleura sp. in the late Barremian-early Aptian deposits is documented for the first time, which suggests the expansion of taxa of the genus Horiopleura Douville to North Sinai during this interval. The age of the rudist species is documented from the late Barremian-Turonian formations, with their geographic distribution in the mediterranean region considered..
