Post-traumatic lymphedema(PTL)is a complex,debilitating,and potentially common disease which has received limited attention to *** available literature is reviewed to identify injury patterns and critical lymphatic areas associated with the disease.A deeper understanding of these critical anatomic regions allows the reconstructive surgeon to potentially identify PTL patients earlier in order to apply surgical and nonsurgical interventions in the acute phase,improving lymphatic physiology and,ultimately,patient *** diagnostic and treatment approaches are discussed in detail,with a focus on lymphatic microsurgical techniques developed and applied to PTL within the last decade.

Hatching asynchrony in birds is considered an adaptation to facilitate brood reduction because under conditions of food scarcity, the smallest nestling usually dies soon after hatching, thereby minimizing parental effort. However, in species with extreme hatching asynchrony, the last hatchlings paradoxically experience a very low probability of survival and death can take so long that it can hardly be considered an adaptation. Here, we propose and experimentally tested a new adaptive hypothesis explaining the brood reduction paradox, namely the“Male Manipulation Hypothesis”. Our hypothesis suggests that by inducing asynchronous hatching,females increase the feeding requirements of the brood, which will induce males to increase provisioning effort. In addition, females may extend the period of male manipulation by feeding the smallest nestling just enough to sustain life. Our study showed that male common blackbirds(Turdus merula) increased their effort(i.e., number of food items per hour) in experimental asynchronous broods compared to synchronous broods, while females reduced their contribution, as predicted by the hypothesis.

Rutile germanium oxide(rutile GeO_(2)),a semiconductor,can act as a half-metallic compound and is a promising material for spintronic and optoelectronic *** were performed using the Korringa–Kohn–Rostoker(KKR)approach and the coherent potential approximation(CPA),which were further combined with two approximations,the local density approximation(LDA)and the self-interaction corrected LDA approximation(LDA-SIC),to study the electronic structure of bulk rutile GeO_(2) doped and co-doped with three transition-metal impurities:Fe,Co,and *** doping value was set to 10%,while the co-doping level was set to 5%for each *** main findings of this work are:(1)a direct ultrawide bandgap of4.80 eV is observed and the rutile GeO_(2) exhibits an N-type semiconducting property.(2)Doped and co-doped GeO_(2) acquire a magnetic behavior and exhibit half-metallicity.(3)The mechanism responsible for these properties is also studied.(4)The critical temperature can reach 334 K when GeO_(2) is doped with Fe,while it rises to 398 K when it is co-doped with Fe and Co.(5)The spin polarization can be improved by *** can be inferred that rutile GeO_(2) doped or codoped with(Co,Fe)transition metals can be considered to be potential candidates for spintronic and optoelectronic applications.
