The COVID-19 pandemic,caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus,has brought about numerous *** of these challenges is the impact of SARS-CoV-2 on the *** this virus primarily affects the lungs,it can induce elevated transaminase levels and the development of scar tissue in the liver,exacerbating preexisting liver *** with preexisting conditions,such as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease,alcohol-induced liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma,face an increased risk of mortality from ***,drugs currently used to treat COVID-19 have undesirable side effects,which make them unsuitable for patients with preexisting liver *** this review,we explore the potential of phytochemicals,such as apigenin,berberine,curcumin,epigallocatechin-3-gallate,quercetin,resveratrol and silymarin,for treatment of the liver conditions,including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease,alcohol-induced liver disease and hepatocellular *** also discuss significant associations between phytochemicals and COVID-19 by depicting their molecular *** on the discussed overlapping functions,it is important to assess the therapeutic efficacy of phytochemicals that possess hepatoprotective properties as potential alternative treatments for COVID-19.

Practice patterns among ophthalmic surgeons in treating concomitant oculoplastic conditions in preoperative period:A questionnaire-based study

BACKGROUND Addressing oculoplastic conditions in the preoperative period ensures both the safety and functional success of any ophthalmic *** oculoplastic conditions,like nasolacrimal duct obstruction,have been extensively studied,whereas others,like eyelid malposition and thyroid eye disease,have received minimal or no *** To investigate the current practice patterns among ophthalmologists while treating concomitant oculoplastic conditions before any subspecialty ophthalmic *** A cross-sectional survey was disseminated among ophthalmologists all over *** survey included questions related to pre-operative evaluation,anaesthetic and surgical techniques preferred,post-operative care,the use of adjunctive therapies,and patient follow-up *** A total of 180 ophthalmologists responded to the *** practitioners(89%)felt that the ROPLAS test was sufficient during pre-operative evaluation before any subspecialty surgery was *** most common surgical techniques employed were lacrimal drainage procedures(Dacryocystorhinostomy)(63.3%),eyelid malposition repair(36.9%),and ptosis repair(58.7%).Post-operatively,47.7%of respondents emphasized that at least a 4-week gap should be maintained after lacrimal drainage procedures and eyelid ***-seven percent of ophthalmologists felt that topical anaesthetic procedures should be preferred while performing ocular surgeries in thyroid eye disease *** Approximately 50%of ophthalmologists handle prevalent oculoplastic issues themselves,seeking the expertise of an oculoplastic surgeon under particular *** ophthalmologists still favor using ROPLAS as a preliminary screening method before proceeding with cataract *** conditions and thyroid eye disease are not as commonly addressed before subspecialty procedures compared to issues like nasolacrimal duct obstruction and periocular infections.

Robust Adaptive Gain Higher Order Sliding Mode Observer Based Control-constrained Nonlinear Model Predictive Control for Spacecraft Formation Flying

This work deals with the development of a decentralized optimal control algorithm, along with a robust observer,for the relative motion control of spacecraft in leader-follower based formation. An adaptive gain higher order sliding mode observer has been proposed to estimate the velocity as well as unmeasured disturbances from the noisy position measurements.A differentiator structure containing the Lipschitz constant and Lebesgue measurable control input, is utilized for obtaining the estimates. Adaptive tuning algorithms are derived based on Lyapunov stability theory, for updating the observer gains,which will give enough flexibility in the choice of initial ***, it may help to cope with unexpected state jerks. The trajectory tracking problem is formulated as a finite horizon optimal control problem, which is solved online. The control constraints are incorporated by using a nonquadratic performance functional. An adaptive update law has been derived for tuning the step size in the optimization algorithm, which may help to improve the convergence speed. Moreover, it is an attractive alternative to the heuristic choice of step size for diverse operating conditions. The disturbance as well as state estimates from the higher order sliding mode observer are utilized by the plant output prediction model, which will improve the overall performance of the controller. The nonlinear dynamics defined in leader fixed Euler-Hill frame has been considered for the present work and the reference trajectories are generated using Hill-Clohessy-Wiltshire equations of unperturbed motion. The simulation results based on rigorous perturbation analysis are presented to confirm the robustness of the proposed approach.

REINVENTING TRADITIONAL TECHNOLOGIES FOR SUSTAINABILITY: Contemporary Earth Architecture of Sri Lanka

In the search for sustainability,Sri Lanka like most countries has been looking at modern and new materials and technologies as much as at the indigenous *** having possessed a resourceful repository of traditional technologies and practices,their reinventions,however,have remained somewhat *** stems partly from the absence of focused research as well as sponsored or recognized programs to promote and experiment with the new possibilities of their applications in modern *** Lanka’s traditional architecture has been extensively studied,and there exists much literature on the art and construction of the ***,a greater focus has been on recording the variety of their spatial patterns together with the architectural compositions and appearances of buildings and their architectural details(De Vos 1988;De Silva 1990;Lewcock et al.2002).While De Vos and De Silva have constructed a set of patterns of traditional Sri Lankan houses in settlements,Lewcock et *** traversed the entire range of traditional settlements and buildings and particularly their architectural *** has often highlighted the marvel of timber architecture(1984),while many archeologists have discussed the structures and constructions of buildings in the context of the history and archeology of Sri Lanka’s ancient *** contrast,Dayaratne(1999,2000,2003,2007)shows how its indigenous architecture has been inherently sustainable and how some of the modern architects have employed their principles in creating architecture that is appropriate to culture and kinder to the *** paper provides a general introduction to the traditional materials of Sri Lanka and examines in detail how earth architecture has been revitalized as a sustainable approach to building.

NDC-IVM:An automatic segmentation of optic disc and cup region from medical images for glaucoma detection

Glaucoma is an eye disease that usually occurs with the increased Intra-Ocular Pressure(IOP),which damages the vision of ***,detecting and classifying Glaucoma is an important and demanding task in recent *** this purpose,some of the clustering and segmentation techniques are proposed in the existing ***,it has some drawbacks that include ineficient,inaccurate and estimates only the affected *** order to solve these issues,a Neighboring Differential Clustering(NDC)-Intensity V ariation Making(IVM)are proposed in this *** main intention of this work is to extract and diagnose the abnormal retinal image by identifying the optic *** work includes three stages such as,preprocessing,clustering and *** first,the given retinal image is preprocessed by using the Gaussian Mask Updated(GMU)model for eliminating the noise and improving the quality of the ***,the cluster is formed by extracting the threshold and patterns with the help of NDC *** the segmentation stage,the weight is calculated for pixel matching and ROI extraction by using the proposed IVM ***,the novelty is presented in the clustering and segmentation processes by developing NDC and IVM algorithms for accurate Glaucoma *** experiments,the results of both existing and proposed techniques are evaluated in terms of sensitivity,specificity,accuracy,Hausdorff distance,Jaccard and dice metrics.

Concatenated deleting machines and their characteristics

In this work,we study the performance of one shot and concatenated deleting machines(DMs).We show that the output state of one shot DMs are mixed inseparable,and do not violate Bell's inequality but can be used as a teleportation channel for all values of the input state *** the other hand,we observe in the concatenation of different DMs that the output states are mixed inseparable and do not violate Bell's inequality,and cannot be used as a teleportation ***,some important attributes such as inseparability,violation of Bell's inequality,and teleportation fidelity of the DMs remain unchanged under the order of *** this context of a teleportation channel,one shot DMs are useful when compared to concatenated DMs.

Toward sustainable development： Lessons from vernacular settlements of Sri Lanka

From modern urban perspectives, indigenous housing practices are regarded as undeveloped, backward, and require improvements. They may be valid for measuring on the basis of standards alien to the communities. However, these perceptions have obfuscated the appreciation and potential adoption of hotistic, culturally relevant, and traditionally tested approaches to planning and housing that have sustained communities for centuries. Sri Lankan indigenous settlements have been founded on principles and understanding acquired through the wisdom of Buddhism. For the Sri Lankan indigenous, sustainability has been an intrinsic accompaniment to everyday life, unlike articulated modern discourses. However, these traditions exert minimal benefits to recent housing practices, and researchers are Looking etsewhere to develop mechanisms to infuse sustainability as a recently discovered issue of significance. The present study examines the principles underlying several indigenous settlements in Sri Lanka through dose observations supported by documented evidence and demonstrates their validity and appropriateness for contemporary planning practices. This study argues that approaches to sustainabitity shoutd be generated hotisticatty from within rather than from the outside and offers several propositions that can redirect the contemporary housing and planning practices.

Representations for reliability functions of conditional coherent systems with INID components and ordered properties

This paper presents several useful mixture representations for the reliability function of the residual live of a coherent system with independent but non-identically distributed components. These presentations are based on order statistics, signatures and mean reliability functions. We then discuss some stochastic comparisons of residual lives between two systems based on the stochastic ordering of coefficient vectors （or components） of the two systems. These results form nice extensions of some known results for the case of independent and identically distributed components.

Effect of samarium doping on structural, optical and magnetic properties of vertically aligned ZnO nanorod arrays

Samarium doped vertically aligned one dimensional ZnO nanorod（NR） arrays were grown by vapor phase transport（VPT） method through vapor solid（VS） growth process. Influence of different concentrations（0% to 8%） of Sm（all Sm contents in the paper are in mass fraction） on the ZnO NR arrays were investigated by X-ray diffraction（XRD）, field emission scanning electron microscopy（FESEM）, photoluminescence（PL）, Raman spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry（VSM） techniques, respectively. X-ray diffraction studies revealed that the ZnO NR arrays were perfectly oriented along（002） crystallographic orientation with wurtzite crystal structure. Photoluminescence results showed an increase in oxygen vacancies due to increase in Sm doping. M-H curves revealed enhanced ferromagnetic behavior, and the magnetic moment values were 0.45, 0.363, 1.694, 3.613 and 2.197 emu/cm^3 for（0–8%） Sm doped ZnO NR arrays respectively. The curve revealed that paramagnetic behavior was observed for undoped ZnO NR arrays and on increasing the Sm dopant to 4%, paramagnetic switched to ferromagnetic behavior.

Om:One tool for many (Indian) languages

Many different languages are spoken in India, each language being the mother tongue of tens of millions of people. While the languages and scripts are distinct from each other, the grammar and the alphabet are similar to a large extent. One common feature is that all the Indian languages are phonetic in nature. In this paper we describe the development of a translit- eration scheme Om which exploits this phonetic nature of the alphabet. Om uses ASCII characters to represent Indian language alphabets, and thus can be read directly in English, by a large number of users who cannot read script in other Indian languages than their mother tongue. It is also useful in computer applications where local language tools such as email and chat are not yet available. Another significant contribution presented in this paper is the development of a text editor for Indian languages that integrates the Om input for many Indian languages into a word processor such as Microsoft WinWord?. The text editor is also developed on Java? platform that can run on Unix machines as well. We propose this transliteration scheme as a possible standard for Indian language transliteration and keyboard entry.
