Instance segmentation,an important image processing operation for automation in agriculture,is used to precisely delineate individual objects of interestwithin images,which provides foundational information for various automated or robotic tasks such as selective harvesting and precision *** study compares the one-stage YOLOv8 and the two-stage Mask R-CNN machine learning models for instance segmentation under varying orchard conditions across two *** 1,collected in dormant season,includes images of dormant apple trees,which were used to train multi-object segmentation models delineating tree branches and *** 2,collected in the early growing season,includes images of apple tree canopies with green foliage and immature(green)apples(also called fruitlet),which were used to train single-object segmentation models delineating only immature green *** results showed that YOLOv8 performed better than Mask R-CNN,achieving good precision and near-perfect recall across both datasets at a confidence threshold of ***,for Dataset 1,YOLOv8 achieved a precision of 0.90 and a recall of 0.95 for all *** comparison,Mask R-CNN demonstrated a precision of 0.81 and a recall of 0.81 for the *** Dataset 2,YOLOv8 achieved a precision of 0.93 and a recall of *** R-CNN,in this single-class scenario,achieved a precision of 0.85 and a recall of ***,the inference times for YOLOv8 were 10.9 ms for multi-class segmentation(Dataset 1)and 7.8 ms for single-class segmentation(Dataset 2),compared to 15.6 ms and 12.8 ms achieved by Mask R-CNN's,*** findings showYOLOv8's superior accuracy and efficiency in machine learning applications compared to two-stage models,specifically Mask-R-CNN,which suggests its suitability in developing smart and automated orchard operations,particularly when real-time applications are necessary in such cases as robotic harvesting and robotic immature green fruit thin

The existence, uniqueness and regularity of solutions to the Cauchy problem posed for a nonhomogeneous viscous Burger's equation were shown in Chung, Kim and Slemrod [1] by assuming suitable conditions on initial data. Moreover, they derived the asymptotic behaviour of solutions of the Cauchy problem by imposing additional conditions on initial data. In this article, we obtain the same asymptotic behaviour of solutions to the Cauchy problem without imposing additional condition on initial data.

In this piece of work, using three spatial grid points, we discuss a new two-level implicit cubic spline method of O(k2 + kh2 + h4) for the solution of quasi-linear parabolic equation , 0 0 subject to appropriate initial and Dirichlet boundary conditions, where h > 0, k > 0 are grid sizes in space and time-directions, respectively. The cubic spline approximation produces at each time level a spline function which may be used to obtain the solution at any point in the range of the space variable. The proposed cubic spline method is applicable to parabolic equations having singularity. The stability analysis for diffusion- convection equation shows the unconditionally stable character of the cubic spline method. The numerical tests are performed and comparative results are provided to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed method.

The paper is devoted to study the non-Newtonian behavior of blood flowing in an artery having a stenosis, in a situation when a catheter has been inserted into it. The blood rheology is described by Herschel-Bulkley fluid model. The flow configuration is con- structed by choosing suitable curvature at the lateral junction, where the flow separation is initiated. The effects of insertion of catheter and that of yield stress of blood on the velocity distribution, rate of flow and flow resistance of blood, distribution of shear stress at the arterial wall and the location of yield plane are investigated. The results provide some useful information for the prediction/treatment of some arterial diseases and circulatory disorders of the cardiovascular system, in a situation, when a stenosis is developed on the endothelium of the daughter artery / bifurcated artery. The study reveals that if the ratio between the radii of the catheter and the artery is increased, the shear stress at the arterial wall diminishes. However, when the bifurcation angle is increased, the wall shear stress is enhanced.

Hearing loss(HL)is a kind of common illness,which can significantly reduce the quality of *** example,HL often results in mishearing,misunderstanding,and communication ***,it is necessary to provide early diagnosis and timely treatment for *** study investigated the advantages and disadvantages of three classical machine learning methods:multilayer perceptron(MLP),support vector machine(SVM),and least-square support vector machine(LS-SVM)approach andmade a further optimization of the LS-SVM model via wavelet *** investigation illustrated that themultilayer perceptron is a shallowneural network,while the least square support vector machine uses hinge loss function and least-square ***,a wavelet selection method was proposed,and we found db4 can achieve the best *** experiments showed that the LS-SVM method can identify the hearing loss disease with an overall accuracy of three classes as 84.89±1.77,which is superior to SVM *** results show that the least-square support vector machine is effective in hearing loss identification.

Subwavelength arrays of dipole-bowtie antennas are designed and characterized using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy（THz-TDS） and finite element method（FEM） simulations. Two different substrates, silicon and mylar with an order of magnitude difference between their thickness values are used to study the resonance properties of the *** 640-μm thick silicon substrate supports a sharper fundamental mode resonance. We discover that higher-order Fabry–Perot resonances can be excited only in 24-μm thin mylar substrates and show much higher sensitivity to dielectric changes in the environment and the geometrical parameters of the antennas than the fundamental dipole resonance.
