Objective:To detect the prevalence of helicobacter polori(***) in a group of pediatric patients complaining of gastrointestinal disorders,and to identify the virulent strains of h. pylori and its relation to peptic ***:The study included 60 patients(41 males and 19 females),aged from 6 months to 14 years,with complaining of different gastrointestinal *** IgG antibodies were *** examination of the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum was done in all patients using a fibreoptic *** addition, gastric antral biopsies were taken for diagnosis of *** infection in the following test: rapid urease test,histopathologic examination and *** cytotoxin assay of virulent strains was *** infection was diagnosed if 3 or more tests for diagnosis were found to be ***:33 out of 60 patients(55%) was positive.12(20%) patients had positive toxin producing strains(virulent strains).Virulent strain had a significantly closer relationship with recurrent abdominal pain,while no difference was found in other symptoms. Age of patients showed a highly significant positive correlation with virulent *** strain. histopathological finding revealed that oesophagitis was significandy common in patients with negative *** and histopathological findings revealed that virulent strain had a significandy higher gastritis and oesophagitis ***:Infection by virulent strains of *** in children is not uncommon:It is associated with endoscopic and histopathologic *** cases infected with virulent strain showed positive results by using rapid urease test,culture and IgG antibodies.

Microbial fuel cells(M FCs)represent a new approach for treating w aste w ater along w ith electricity *** present study addressed electricity production from domestic w astew ater using a mediator-less double chamber M *** electricity production w as monitored under different operational conditions for both summer and w inter *** of the anodic and cathodic chambers resulted in a maximal current of 0.784 and 0.645 m A w ith the maximal pow er intensity of 209 and 117 m W/m2in pow er duration of 24 h for the summer and w inter samples,*** electron microscopy show ed that the bacterial biofilm formation on the anode w as denser for the summer sample than that w hen the w inter sample w as used,so w as the total bacterial ***,samples taken during summer w ere considered better in electricity production and w aste w ater treatment than those taken during w inter basically because of the high microbial load during the hot *** parallel,there w as a decrease in both biological oxygen demand(BOD5)and chemical oxygen demand(COD)values which reached 71.8%and 72.85%,respectively at the end of the operation process for the summer sample,w hile there w as no evident decrease for the w inter *** the operating conditions not only increased the potential of using domestic w aste w ater in microbial fuel cells to produce electricity,but also improved the quality of the domestic w aste w ater.

hepatocellular carcinoma is one of the most prevalent life-threatening human cancers with etiological factors chronic viral hepatitis B and C infections. Tumor cell dispersion relies on the loss of homotypic cell-cell adhesion. Invasion through basement membrane and interstitial extracellular matrix is another key event for metastatic progression, which requires the action of a series of proteolytic enzymes named matrix metalloproteinases, secreted by tumor cells that enhance tumor invasiveness and metastasis. TIMPs are dominant inhibitors of MMPs and able to control MMP-mediated ECM breakdown by binding active forms of MMPs. Lipocalin-2 is known as neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin promotematrix degradation and tumor progression. Aim: To evaluate the importance of lipocalin for diagnosis hCC in Egyptian chronic liver disease patients. Subjects and Methods: 50 patients and 25 controls. (G-1) 25 hCC on top of hepatitis C. (G-2) 25 hepatitis C. The following done: schistosoma antibodies, ASAM, LKM-1, ANA AKA and CBC. hepatitis B surface antigen, hepatitis C antibodies AFP, Cupper and zinc, Matrix metaloprotinase-9, TIMP-1 and Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin. Results: Median value of MMP-9 level in G-I (206 μg/L) is significantly higher than G-2 (100 μg/L) and G 3 (49 μg/L) p Conclusion: We elucidated predictive value for MMPs, TIMPs, and progression metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma. Liver cell impairment alters metabolism of trace metals as zinc and copper, with possible relationship of these changes to pathogenesis of chronic liver disease. Lipocalin-2 can be used as a future diagnostic marker with better sensitivity and specificity than MMP-9 for the progression of hepatocelluar carcinoma.

AIM： TO establish a cell culture system with longterm replication of hepatitis C virus （hCV） genome and expression of viral antigens in vitro. METhODS： hepG2 cell line was tested for its susceptibility to hCV by incubation with a serum from a patient with chronic hepatitis C. Cells and supernatant were harvested at various time points during the culture. Culture supernatant was tested for its ability to infect na＇ive cells. The presence of minus （antisense） RNA strand, and the detection of core and E1 antigens in cells were examined by RT-PCR and immunological techniques （flow cytometry and Western blot） respectively. RESULTS： The intracellular hCV RNA was first detected on d 3 after infection and then could be consistently detected in both cells and supernatant over a period of at least three months. The fresh cells could be infected with supernatant from cultured infected cells. Flow cytometric analysis showed surface and intracellular hCV antigen expression using in house made polyclonal antibodies （anti-core, and anti-E1）. Western blot analysis showed the expression of a cluster of immunogenic peptides at molecular weights extended between 31 and 45 kDa in an one month old culture of infected cells whereas this cluster was undetectable in uninfected hepG2 cells. CONCLUSION： hepG2 cell line is not only susceptible to hCV infection but also supports its replication in vitro. Expression of hCV structural proteins can be detected in infected hepG2 cells. These cells are also capable of shedding viral particles into culture media which in turn become infectious to uninfected cells.

Multiple-beam fringes of equal chromatic order interferometry is a powerful technique to extract optical properties over a continuous range of spectrum. In this paper we develop a theory for the spectral shape of the fringes of equal chromatic order (FECO) that are formed across a double-clad fiber. The modified single term Sellmeier dispersion formula is used to construct the refractive index dispersion curves for the liquid, claddings, and core. Expressions for the paraxial optical path length for several rays passing through the fiber and the liquid are developed. The condition of bright fringe is applied to get an analytical expression for the spectral shape of the FECO across a double-clad fiber with an elliptical/circular inner cladding. A potential application of this theory is to determine the dispersion of Kerr constant of the claddings and the core of the fiber. To illustrate the theory and its application, simulation examples are provided and discussed.

Objective:To evaluate the improvement of dysphagia and the daily amounts of oral fluids served among people who had recently experienced a cerebrovascular stroke(CVS)after applying a nursing intervention ***:A quasi-experimental design was used to examine 60 stroke patients who were randomly and alternatively divided equally into a study group and a control *** Swallowing Screen(GUSS)and fluid balance chart were *** the first 24 h of a patient’s admission,expert nurses were trained in nursing intervention protocol to manage dysphagia and daily oral ***:Post-nursing intervention,the severity of dysphagia decreased among the study group more than in the control ***,the study group began taking greater amounts of fluids by the oral route than before the nursing ***:A standardized nursing intervention protocol is needed to decrease the severity of dysphagia after CVS and increase the amount of daily oral *** presence of a structured theory-based nursing intervention protocol for dysphagia management will greatly contribute to decreasing the consequences of dysphagia after CVS,and can also be expected to attenuate the effects of aspiration pneumonia,dehydration,and malnutrition;further,it also increases adherence to the protocol by both nurses and patients.

Background: Platelets play a key role in the development and progression of cardiovascular diseases. Also red cell distribution width (RDW%) & platelet indices are a good predictor of clinical outcomes. Purpose: Study the relationship between RDW%, platelets count, mean platelet volume (MPVfl) and platelet distribution width (PDWfl) in children with congenital heart disease (CHD) or rheumatic heart diseases (RHD). Subjects and Methods: The study was carried on 151 children diagnosed as CHD or RHD selected from pediatric department of Al-Zahraa University Hospital and National Heart Institute. Soy-corn-yoghurt is a fermented product that obtained from inoculation of yoghurt starter to soy corn milk. The present study was conducted to study the use of different ratios of soy corn milk and corn milk only with buffalo milk in the manufacture of yoghurt. Two experiments were carried out , the first experiment was 100 ml buffalo milk :soy corn milk ratios 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40 and 50:50 (w/w), the second was buffalo milk with Corn milk 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40, 50:50 and 40:60 respectively and 100% buffalo milk as control. Treatments were coded B1, C1, D1, E1 and F1 in the first experiment, while B2, C2, D2, E2, F2 and G2 for the second respectively. All treatments subjected to chemical and organoleptic assessment. It was found those ph, total protein, fat content were decreased with increasing the ratio of soy corn milk in the product. Also, increasing the ratio of corn milk led to decrease all the previously mentioned characteristics. Curd firmness values for yoghurt made from (70:30) coded D2 and (60:40) coded E1 were higher than that of other treatments. Results indicated that mixes of (50:50) coded F1, (60:40) coded E1 and mixes (90:10) coded B2, (80:20) coded C2 and (70:30) coded D2 had the highest sensory scores and chemical quality.
