A collection representing the native range of pecan was planted at the US DA-ARS Southeastern Fruit and Tree Nut Research Station,Byron,*** collection(867 trees)is a valuable genetic resource for characterizing important horticultural *** density during leaf fall is important as the seasonal canopy dynamics provides insights to environmental cues and breeding potential of *** ability of visual raters to estimate canopy density on a subset of the provenance collection(76 trees)as an indicator of leaf shed during autumn along with image analysis values was *** canopy density using the image analysis software was less compared to visual estimates(11.9%vs 18.4%,respectively).At higher canopy densities,the raters overestimated foliage density,but overall agreement between raters and measured values was good(ρc=0.849 to 0.915),and inter-rater reliability was high(R^(2)=0.910 to 0.953).The provenance from Missouri(MOL),the northernmost provenance,had the lowest canopy density in November,and results show that the higher the latitude of the provenance,the lower the canopy *** on regression,the source provenance latitude explained 0.609 of the variation using image analysis,and0.551 to 0.640 when based on the rater estimates of canopy *** assessment of pecan canopy density due to late season leaf fall for comparing pecan genotypes provides accurate and reliable estimates and could be used in future studies of the whole provenance collection.

AIM:To evaluate whether the ABO blood group is related to pancreatic cancer risk in the general population of the United ***:Using the University of Pittsburgh's clinicalpancreatic cancer registry,the blood donor database from our local blood bank (central Blood Bank),and the blood product recipient database from the regional transfusion service (centralized Transfusion Service) in Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania,we identified 274 pancreatic cancer patients with previously determined serological ABO blood group *** ABO blood group frequency was compared between these patients and 708842 individual,community-based blood donors who had made donations to Pittsburgh's central Blood Bank between 1979 and ***:The frequency of blood group A was statistically significantly higher amongst pancreatic cancer patients compared to its frequency amongst the regional blood donors [47.63% vs 39.10%,odds ratio (OR)=1.43,P=0.004].conversely,the frequency of blood group O was significantly lower amongst pancreatic cancer patients relative to the community blood donors (32.12% vs 43.99%,OR=0.60,P=0.00007).There were limited blood group B (n=38) and AB (n=17) pancreatic cancer patients;the overall P trend value comparing patient to donor blood groups was ***:The ABO blood group is associated with pancreatic cancer *** studies should examine the mechanism linking pancreatic cancer risk to ABO blood group.

A series of N,N-disubstituted piperazines were synthesized containing the structural elements of both methylenedioxybenzylpiperazine (MDBP) and trifluoromethylphenylpiperazine (TFMPP)in a single *** six potential designer drug molecules having a regioisomeric relationship were compared in gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (Gc-MS),gas chromatography-infrared spectroscopy and serotonin receptor affinity *** compounds were separated by capillary gas chromatography on an Rxi(R)-17Sil MS stationary phase film and the elution order appears to be determined by the position of aromatic ring *** majority of electron ionization mass spectral fragment ions occur via processes initiated by one of the two nitrogen atoms of the piperazine *** major electron ionization mass spectrometry (El-MS) fragment ions observed in all six of these regioisomeric substances occur at m/z =364,229,163 and *** relative intensity of the various fragment ions is also equivalent in each of the six El-MS *** vapour phase infrared spectra provide a number of absorption bands to differentiate among the six individual compounds on this regioisomeric ***,the mass spectra place these compounds into a single group and the vapour phase infrared spectra differentiate among the six regioisomeric *** of the TFMPP-MDBP regioisomers displayed significant binding to 5-HT2B receptors and in contrast to 3-TFMPP,most of these TFMPP-MDBP isomers did not show significant binding at 5-HT1 receptor *** the 3-TFMPP-3,4-MDBP (compound 5) isomer displayed affinity comparable to 3-TFMPP at 5-HT1A receptors (Ki =188 nmol/L).

Decomposition of plant litter is a fundamental process in ecosystem function, carbon and nutrient cycling and, by extension, climate change. This study aimed to investigate the role of temperature on the decomposition of water soluble phenolics（WSP）, carbon and soil nutrients in conjunction with the phytotoxicity dynamics of chrysanthemoides monilifera subsp. monilifera（boneseed） litter. Treatments consisted of three factors including decomposition materials（litter alone, litter with soil and soil alone）, decomposition periods and temperatures（5-15, 15-25and 25-35°c（night/day））. Leachates were collected on 0, 5, 10, 20, 40 and 60 th days to analyse physico-chemical parameters and phytotoxicity. Water soluble phenolics and dissolved organic carbon（DOc） increased with increasing temperature while nutrients like SO-24 and NO-13 decreased. Speed of germination, hypocotyl and radical length and weight of Lactuca sativa exposed to leachates were decreased with increasing decomposition temperature. All treatment components had significant effects on these parameters. There had a strong correlation between DOc and WSP, and WSP content of the leachates with radical length of test species. This study identified complex interactivity among temperature, WSP, DOc and soil nutrient dynamics of litter occupied soil and that these factors work together to influence phytotoxicity.
