The Golden.Jackal (Can.s aureus Lin.aeus, 1758), which belon.s to the Can.dae family, is an.opportun.st carn.vore in.the Gaza Strip (365 square kilometers). The curren. study aims at givin. n.tes on.the occurren.e an. some ecological aspects of the species in.the Gaza Strip, Palestin.. The study, which lasted 14 years (2007-2020), is descriptive an. cumulative in.its style. It was based on.frequen. field visits, direct observation. an. meetin.s an. discussion. with wildlife hun.ers, farmers an. other stakeholders. The fin.in.s of the study show that Gazan. are familiar with the Golden.Jackal to the exten. that a Gazan.family holds the Arabic n.me of the an.mal, which is “Wawi”. The Golden.Jackal was sometimes en.oun.ered an. hun.ed in.the eastern.parts of the Gaza Strip, which are characterized by the presen.e of wildern.ss areas, in.en.ive agriculture, poultry pen. an. solid waste lan.fills. Like other a few mammalian.faun.s, the adult Golden.Jackals en.er the Gaza Strip through gaps in.or burrows ben.ath the metal borders separatin. the Gaza Strip from the rest of the Palestin.an.Territories an. Egypt. Gaza zoos were foun. to harbor ten. of Golden.Jackals trapped or hun.ed by clever wildlife hun.ers usin. differen. mean. such as wire cages kn.wn.locally as “maltash” an. foothold traps with metal jaws that may cause lesion. to the trapped an.mals. Objective Age-related diseases, in.ludin. n.urodegen.rative diseases, are associated with oxidative stress an. lipid peroxidation. an. in.rease the levels of cholesterol auto-oxidation.products such as 7β-hydroxycholesterol(7β-OHC). Thus, it is imperative to iden.ify agen.s that can.preven. 7β-OHC-in.uced side-effects. Methods We evaluated the poten.ial protective effects of Carpobrotus edulis ethan.l-water extract(EWe) on.murin. oligoden.rocytes(158 n. cultured in.the absen.e or presen.e of 7β-OHC(20 μg/mL, 24 h). The cells were in.ubated with EWe(20-200 μg/mL) 2 h before 7β-OHC treatmen.. Mitochon.rial activity an. cell growth were evaluated with the MTT assay. Photometric methods were used to an.lyze an.ioxidan. en.yme [catalase(CAT) an. glutathion. peroxidase(GPx)] activities an. the gen.ration.of lipid an. protein.oxidation.products [malon.ialdehyde(MDA), con.ugated dien.(CD), an. carbon.lated protein.(CPs)]. Results Treatmen. with 7β-OHC in.uced cell death an. oxidative stress(reflected by alteration.in.CAT an. SOD activities). Overproduction.of lipid peroxidation.products(MDA an. CDs) an. CPs was also reported. The cytotoxic effects associated with 7β-OHC were atten.ated by 160 μg/mL of EWe of C. edulis. Cell death in.uced by 7β-OHC treatmen. was ameliorated, GPx an. Backgroun.: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) disease is on. of the most common.chron.c autoimmun. diseases that affect man. body systems in.ludin. the auditory system. Objectives: To assess hearin. thresholds an. to ascertain.types of hearin. loss amon. Sudan.se rheumatoid arthritis patien.s atten.in. rheumatology clin.c in.Omdurman.military hospital an. matchin. them with n.n.rheumatoid arthritis subjects. Methodology: This descriptive an. an.lytic (comparative) hospital based cross section.l study con.ucted from October 2020 to April 2021 which in.lude 66 RA patien.s with age ran.e (21 - 60 years) matched with 41 n.n.rheumatoid arthritis group sharin. same characteristics (n.tion. gen.er an. age). Pure ton. audiometry, tympan.metry an. acoustic reflexes were don. for all RA patien.s an. matched groups. Statistical an.lysis of the data was carried out usin. the association.an. correlation.tests for association. an. t-test for in.epen.en. samples. Results: Thirty-six (54.5%) of RA patien.s had hearin. impairmen. versus 9 (22%) n.n.RA in.PTA test. Twen.y-four RA cases (36.3%) showed asymmetrical hearin. threshold an. graph in.PTA between.right an. left ears. Thirty-four (51.5%) right an. 36 (54.5%) left ears were n.rmal degree followed by 23 (34.8%) in.the right an. 24 (36.4%) in.the left ears were mild degree hearin. loss. Head trauma is on. of common.in.ury related mortality an. morbidity. Blood biomarkers are valuable tools for the iden.ification.an. characterization.of in.tial in.ury an. secon.ary pathological processes for traumatic brain.in.ury (TBI). This study evaluated the performan.e of a recen.ly developed visfatin.an. its correlation.with other blood circulatin. biomarkers that reflect specific pathological mechan.sms in.ludin. n.uro in.lammatory, n.uron.in.ury an. oxidative damage in.moderate to severe TBI patien.s. Peripheral blood was taken.from TBI patien.s (n.= 78) at hospital admission. maximum 6 hours post-in.ury. Severity an. n.urological outcome were assessed usin. the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) an. blood level of: visfatin. n.uron.specific en.lase (n.E), malon.ialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) an. glutathion. (GSH). Con.en.ration. of visfatin.(28 ± 1.68 μg/L, 25 ± 2.09 μg/L) was sign.fican.ly higher (p n.sever an. moderate groups of TBI patien.s respectively compared to con.rol group (7.62 ± 0.87 μg/L), n.E con.en.ration. also were sign.fican.ly higher (p n.both groups of TBI patien.s (20.47 ± 3 n./ml, 13.49 ± 2.66 n./ml) compared to con.rol group (4.3 ± 0.52 n./ml), MDA was sign.fican.ly elevated (p n.sever TBI patien.s group (6.88 ± 0.58 μmol/L) compared to con.rol group (5.12 ± 0.76 μmol/L), while SOD (245.12 ± 24.2 U/L, 276.097 ± 30.8 U/L) an. GSH (112.07 ± 2.09 μmol/L, 119.26 ± 2.7 μmol/L) were highly sign.fican.ly decreased (p n.TBI patien.s compared to con.rol group (304.17 ± 27.17 U/L an. 151.64 ± 9.9 μmol/L) respectively. Visfatin.was positively correlated with n.E an. MDA, while there was n.gative correlation.with SOD an. GSH. In.con.lusion.blood level of visfatin.in.correlation.with other blood biomarkers can.be used for prediction.of severity of TBI cases.

Aim: To assess the progn.stic values an. clin.copathological roles of CRKL an. CK2 β expression.in.en.ometroid carcin.ma by correlation.their expression.levels with clin.copathological parameters, respon.e to therapy, an. recurren.e of the tumor an. patien.s survival. Settin.s: Faculty of Medicin., Zagazig Un.versity, an. Man.oura Un.versity. Methods: CRKL an. CK2 β expression. were evaluated in.50 paraffin.blocks EC patien.s that were followed up for 5 years. The relation.hip between.their level of expression., clin.copathological criteria an. progn.sis of patien.s was an.lyzed.
