Background: Intramuscular fat(IMF) content is a relevant trait for high-quality meat products such as dry-cured ham,but increasing IMF has the undesirable correlated effect of decreasing lean ***,there is a need to find selection criteria for IMF independent from lean *** pigs,the proportion of linoleic(C18:2) and arachidonic(C20:4) acids decline with fat deposition and therefore they can be considered as indicators of *** aim of this research was to estimate the genetic variation for C18:2 and C20:4 in IMF and their genetic correlations with IMF and lean growth traits,with the objective to assess their potential as specific biomarkers of *** analysis was conducted using a full-pedigreed Duroc resource line with 91,448 records of body weight and backfat thickness(BT) at 180 days of age and 1371 records of fatty acid composition in the muscle gluteus ***: The heritability estimates for C18:2 and C20:4 in IMF,whether expressed in absolute(mg/g of muscle) or in relative(mg/g of fatty acid) terms,as well as for their ratio(C20:4/C18:2),were high(> 0.40),revealing that the C18:2 to C20:4 pathway is subjected to substantial genetic *** effects were not negligible,with values ranging from8% to 15% of the phenotypic *** genetic correlations of C18:2 and C20:4 with IMF and BT were negative(-0.75 to-0.66,for IMF,and-0.64 to-0.36,for BT),if expressed in relative values,but almost null(-0.04 to 0.07),if expressed in absolute values,except for C18:2 with IMF,which was highly positive(0.88).The ratio of C20:4 to C18:2 also displayed a stronger genetic correlation with IMF(-0.59) than with BT(-0.10).Conclusions: The amount of C18:2 in muscle can be used as an IMF-specific *** for the absolute amount of C18:2 is expected to deliver a similar response outcome as selection for IMF at restrained *** genetic analysis of the C18:2 metabolic pathway may provide new insights into differential fat deposition

Monitoring and controlling the depth of general anesthesia is very important since over-dosing and under-dosing can be dangerous for the well-being of the *** of the devices used to monitor the depth of anesthesia is the BIS(Bispectral Index) *** relation between the BIS signal,measured by the BIS monitor,and the effect of the administered drugs is given by a function called Hill *** aim of this contribution is to implement a procedure for i)the estimation of the time-delay introduced by the computational effort employed by the BIS monitor and ii)the estimation of the parameters of a linear Hill *** estimation algorithm is implemented based on the cross-correlation analysis(CCA)between a real BIS signal and a simulated BIS ***, the algorithm was validated using only simulated signals,followed by a clinical *** estimated time-delay will be used further in the prediction model of the Extended Prediction Self-Adaptive Control(EPSAC)algorithm.

At present, Argentina does not count with a production of indigenous yeast strains with suitable technological and oenological features to be used in the regional winery industry. Isolation and molecular characterization of these microorganisms and its fermentation attributes would be relevant to the sustainable development of the activity in the country and to recognize and preserve the biodiversity of the region. Eight strains isolated from grapes and musts from the North Patagonian region and genetically identified as Saccharomyces cerevisiae, were studied for their fermentation behavior, emphasizing in hexose transport through the plasma membrane, which is the limiting step of the process. Thus, sugar consumption profiles were analyzed in different media at laboratory scale, to be subsequently applied to the fermentation of natural musts. Three of the eight initial strains were selected, named NNM10, NIF8 and NMN16 according to their fermentation profiles. The expression of hexose transporters during fermentations revealed interesting differences in the response of each strain to sugar consumption, where transporters HXT2 and HXT5 showed significant changes in expression in Patagonian strains, which are normally associated to endurance to culture stress conditions. The results obtained by combining the characteristics studied, at molecular and physiological level, are extremely encouraging. Native strain NMN16, showed a high potential for application in local winemaking. Assays carried out on a pilot scale will determine the feasibility of applying this strain with promising technological features at industrial scale.

AIM： To examine the risk of renal events in patients with biopsy-proven diabetic nephropathy （DN） and its possible associated ***： Clinical and histological data of 60 pa-tients diagnosed with diabetic nephropathy were retro-spectively collected. Patients with evidence or suspicion of other nephropathies were excluded from the study. The fnal event was defned as renal replacement ther-apy （RRT） initiation or progression of chronic kidney disease （CKD）, according to the KDIGO 2012 defnition of a decrease in CKD category and a decrease in GFR of 25% or more. RESULTS： A total of 45 patients with a follow-up of at least 3 mo were included. Most of the patients presented type 2 DM, with a mean age of 58.3 years old. The time of evolution of DM was 9.6 ± 7.8 years, al-though in 13 patients, it was less than 5 years. A total of 62% of patients reached the fnal event in a mean period of 3.4 years （95%CI： 2.1-4.7）, with 21 of them requiring dialysis. The factors that were indepen-dently associated with renal survival were estimated glomerular fltration rate （eGFR） at the time of biopsy, cardiovascular disease （CVD） history and HbA1c less than 7%. Therefore, for each 10 mL/min per 1.73 m2 reduction in eGFR, we obtained a DN progression risk of HR = 2 （1.3-3.0）（P = 0.001）; patients with CVD were at greater risk for DN progression （HR = 2.8, 1.1-7.1, P = 0.032）, and CKD patients with HbA1c 〈 7% demonstrated greater renal risk than patients with HbA1c ≥ 7%, with an HR of 2.9 （1.0-8.4）（P = 0.054）.CONCLUSION： A past history of CVD is a risk fac-tor for DN progression. Levels of HbA1c less than 7% could favor an eGFR decrease in these patients.

Tomato is one of the most important vegetables cultivated in Mexico. Nitrogen-based fertilizers have greatly contributed to the increase in tomato production;however, the excessive application of this fertilizer may affect yield and fruit quality. A greenhouse experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of increasing in rates of nitrogen from deficiency to toxic levels. Five N-treatments (0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 mM of N) were applied in two tomato varieties, Caballero and Victoria The optimum N doses for leaf growth in both varieties was 30 mM reaching 13.0 and 13.5 cm in Caballero and Victoria respectively. At low toxic levels leaf growth was recovered more easily in Caballero than Victoria. Nitrate concentration for the low toxicity treatment was greater in leaf and stems for Caballero than Victoria;conversely nitrate in fruits was higher in Victoria. Final yield per plant was not statistically different between varieties except at the low toxic treatment where Caballero had a yield of 780 g per plant compared to that of 330 g per plant of Victoria. Tomato quality was also affected by the applied N-doses, where treatment 30 mM reached the maximum fruit firmness in both varieties while high toxic N-levels decreased significantly this parameter. Soluble solids and titratable acidity increased with increased N-Doses. Caballero variety seems to be more tolerant than Victoria at low levels of N-toxicity.

Grapevine trunk diseases (GTDs) are currently one of the most important problems for grapevine plant and wine industry, causing important economic cost in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Traditionally, GTDs were associated with diseases present in mature grapevines, however in recent years the incidence of young vine decline has been increasing. In this work, from 2009 to 2016, 250 young grapevine plants have been analysed by fungal isolation and characterization. In addition, during 2017, 32 mature plants showing decline symptoms were analysed. Both kinds of plants were analysed in order to identify the main fungal trunk pathogens present in Castilla-La Mancha region. As a result, it was possible to isolate species associated with black-foot disease (Cylindrocarpon-like anamorphs), esca and Petri disease (Phaeomoniella chlamydospora and Phaeoacremonium spp.), and Botryosphaeria dieback. All these pathogens were isolated from young and mature plants, this fact could suggest a common origin. The lack of effective control measures for these diseases makes it necessary to implement an integrated disease management strategy that provides an efficient approach to reduce infections in nurseries and get better results in infected vineyards.
