Deep Learning Approach for COVID-19 Detection in Computed Tomography Images

With the rapid spread of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)worldwide,the establishment of an accurate and fast process to diagnose the disease is *** routine real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(rRT-PCR)test that is currently used does not provide such high accuracy or speed in the screening *** the good choices for an accurate and fast test to screen COVID-19 are deep learning *** this study,a new convolutional neural network(CNN)framework for COVID-19 detection using computed tomography(CT)images is *** EfficientNet architecture is applied as the backbone structure of the proposed network,in which feature maps with different scales are extracted from the input CT scan *** addition,atrous convolution at different rates is applied to these multi-scale feature maps to generate denser features,which facilitates in obtaining COVID-19 findings in CT scan *** proposed framework is also evaluated in this study using a public CT dataset containing 2482 CT scan images from patients of both classes(i.e.,COVID-19 and non-COVID-19).To augment the dataset using additional training examples,adversarial examples generation is *** proposed system validates its superiority over the state-of-the-art methods with values exceeding 99.10%in terms of several metrics,such as accuracy,precision,recall,and *** proposed system also exhibits good robustness,when it is trained using a small portion of data(20%),with an accuracy of 96.16%.

Gulf War Illness(GWI) encompass a spectrum of maladies specific to troops deployed during the Persian Gulf War(1990–1991). There are several hypothesized factors believed to contribute to GWI, including(but not limited to)exposures to chemical agents and a foreign environment(e.g., dust, pollens, insects, and microbes). moreover, the inherent stress associated with deployment and combat has been associated with GWI. While the etiology of GWI remains uncertain, several studies have provided strong evidence that chemical exposures, especially neurotoxicants,may be underlying factors for the development of GWI. This mini style perspective article will focus on some of the major evidence linking chemical exposures to GWI development and persistence decades after exposure.

Accelerated D-Dimensional Compactified Universe in Gauss-Bonnet-Dilatonic Scalar Gravity from D-Brane/m-Theory

We discuss a particular d-dimensional Gauss- Ronnet-dilatonie universe compactified on S^1 motivated from mtheory. We examine the time-evolution of the dynamical equations where many interesting consequences are revealed and discussed in some details. Under reasonable conditions, the discussed model can provide a mechanism to realize, in higher-dimensions （d 〉 4）, the accelerated expansion of the universe in the presence of dark energy, without the presence of phantom energy and without the contraction of some internal dimension.

Phase Transitions in the Early Universe with Negatively Induced Supergravity Cosmological Constant

We consider that the observable cosmological constant is the sum of the vacuum （Avac） and the induced term （Aind - 3m^2/4） with m being the ultra-llght masses （≈ Hubble parameter） implemented in the theory from supergravities arguments and non-minimal coupling. In the absence of a scalar buildup of matter fields, we study its effects on spontaneous symmetry breaking with a Higgs potential and show how the presence of the ultra-light masses yields some important consequences for the early universe and new constraints on the Higgs and electroweak gauge bosons masses.

Inhibition of autophagy rescues HT22 hippocampal neurons from erastin-induced ferroptosis

Synthesis of novel 3-aryl-5-（3,5-dimethylisoxazol-4-yl）-2,3,5,6-tetrahydrobenzo[g][1,3,5],oxadiazocine-4-thiones 5 has been accomplished from 3,5-dimethylisoxazol-4-amine 1 by condensation with salicylaldehydes, followed by reduction, treatment with aryl isothiocyanates and subsequent smooth ring closure via acetal formation in the presence of formaldehyde.

Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN)have revolutionized the processes involved in industrial ***,the most important challenge faced by WSN sensors is the presence of limited *** research inves-tigations have been conducted so far on how to prolong the energy in *** phenomenon is a result of inability of the network to have battery powered-sensor ***-efﬁcient routing on packetﬂow is a parallel phenomenon to delay nature,whereas the primary energy gets wasted as a result of WSN *** holes are present in the vicinity of sink and it is an important efﬁcient-routing protocol for *** order to solve the issues discussed above,an energy-efﬁcient routing protocol is proposed in this study named as Adaptive Route Decision Sink Relocation Protocol using Cluster Head Chain Cycling approach(ARDSR-CHC2H).The proposed method aims at improved communica-tion at sink-inviting *** this point,Cluster Head Node(CHN)is selected,since it consumes low energy and permits one node to communicate with others in two *** main purpose of the proposed model is to reduce energy con-sumption and deﬁne new interchange technology.A comparison of simulation results demonstrates that the proposed algorithm achieved low cluster creation time,better network error and high Packet Delivery Rate with less network failure.

Biliary leakage following pancreaticoduodenectomy:Prevalence,risk factors and management

Background: Few studies investigated biliary leakage after pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD) especially when compared to postoperative pancreatic fistula(POPF). This study was to determine the incidence of biliary leakage after PD, predisposing factors of biliary leakage, and its management. methods: We retrospectively studied all patients who underwent PD from January 2008 to December 2017 at Gastrointestinal Surgery Center, mansoura University, Egypt. According to occurrence of postoperative biliary leakage, patients were divided into two groups. Group(1) included patients who developed biliary leakage and group(2) included patients without identified biliary leakage. The preoperative data, operative details, and postoperative morbidity and mortality were analyzed. Results: The study included 555 patients. Forty-four patients(7.9%) developed biliary leakage. Ten patients(1.8%) had concomitant POPF. multivariate analysis identified obesity and time needed for hepaticojejunostomy reconstruction as independent risk factors of biliary leakage, and no history of preoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatiography(ERCP) as protective factor. Biliary leakage from hepaticojejunostomy after PD leads to a significant increase in development of delayed gastric emptying, and wound infection. The median hospital stay and time to resume oral intake were significantly greater in the biliary leakage group. Non-surgical management was needed in 40 patients(90.9%). Only 4 patients(9.1%) required re-exploration due to biliary peritonitis and associated POPF. The mortality rate in the biliary leakage group was significantly higher than that of the non-biliary leakage group(6.8% vs 3.9%, P = 0.05). Conclusions: Obesity and time needed for hepaticojejunostomy reconstruction are independent risk factors of biliary leakage, and no history of preoperative ERCP is protective factor. Biliary leakage increases the risk of morbidity and mortality especially if concomitant with POPF. Howeve

Dark energy from logarithmically modified gravity and deformed Coleman-Weinberg potential

Recent astrophysical measurements strongly suggest the existence of a missing energy component dubbed dark energy that is responsible for the current accelerated expansion of the universe.A new class of modified gravity theory is introduced which yields a universe accelerating in time and dominated by dark *** new modified gravity model constructed here concurrently includes a Gauss-Bonnet invariant term,barotropic fluid with a time-dependent equation of state parameter,a Coleman-Weinberg（CW） potential-like expression V（φ） =ξφm lnφn and a new Einstein-Hilbert term f（R,φ） =E（φ） R which depends on both the scalar curvature and the scalar fieldφthrough a generic logarithmic function E（φ） =lnφ.Here m and n take different values from the standard CW potential andξis a real parameter. It was shown that the presence of these terms provides many useful features which are discussed in some detail.

Bemisia tabaci Biotype Dynamics and Resistance to Insecticides in Israel During the Years 2008-2010

The sweetpotato whitefly Bemisia tabaci（Hemiptera：Aleyrodidae）is an extremely polyphagous insect pest that causes significant crop losses in Israel and *** is a species complex of which the B and Q biotypes are the most widespread and damaging *** change in biotype composition and resistance to insecticide in Israel was monitored during the years 2008-2010 to identify patterns in population dynamics that can be correlated with resistance *** results show that B biotype populations dominate crops grown in open fields,while Q biotype populations gradually dominate crops grown in protected conditions such as greenhouses and nethouses,where resistance outbreaks usually develop after several insecticide *** in previous years,Q biotype populations were widely detected in many regions in Israel,significant domination of the B biotype across populations collected was observed during the year 2010,indicating the instability of the *** population from one year to *** for the changing dynamics and the shift in the relative abundance of *** biotype,and their resistance status,are discussed.
