Ecological niche modelling of a critically endangered species Commiphora wightii (Arn.) Bhandari using bioclimatic and non-bioclimatic variables

Background The aim of this study is to examine the effects of four different bioclimatic predictors(current,2050,2070,and 2090 under Shared Socioeconomic Pathways SSP2-4.5)and non-bioclimatic variables(soil,habitat heterogeneity index,land use,slope,and aspect)on the habitat suitability and niche dimensions of the critically endangered plant species Commiphora wightii in *** also evaluate how niche modelling affects its extent of occurrence(EOO)and area of occupancy(AOO).Results The area under the receiver operating curve(AUC)values produced by the maximum entropy(Maxent)under various bioclimatic time frames were more than 0.94,indicating excellent model ***-bioclimatic characteristics,with the exception of terrain slope and aspect,decreased the accuracy of our ***,Maxent accuracy was the lowest across all combinations of bioclimatic and non-bioclimatic variables(AUC=0.75 to 0.78).With current,2050,and 2070 bioclimatic projections,our modelling revealed the significance of water availability parameters(BC-12 to BC-19,*** and seasonal precipitation as well as precipitation of wettest,driest,and coldest months and quarters)on habitat suitability for this ***,with 2090 projection,energy variables such as mean temperature of wettest quarter(BC-8)and isothermality(BC-3)were identified as governing *** salt,rooting conditions,land use type(grassland),characteristics of the plant community,and slope were also noticed to have an impact on this *** distribution modelling of this species in both its native(west-ern India)and exotic(North-east,Central Part of India,as well as northern and eastern Ghat)habitats,we were also able to simulate both its fundamental niche and its realized *** EOO and AOO analysis reflects the possibility of many new areas in India where this species can be planted and *** According to the calculated area under the various suitability classes,we can conclude

Background:Appraisal of arid land status is very crucial one to know the extent and factors associated with their *** studies from arid regions are mostly qualitative in nature(indicator assessment like good,moderate,severe,and very severe)and generally overlooked the significance of temporal ***:In this study,the temporal status of 12 Indian arid lands was accessed by using a new integrated approach that includes attributes like relative converge score(RCS),herbaceous component score(HCS),soil quality indexModified(SQI),ecosystem monitoring value(EMV),and a modified bare patch *** each land,data were collected during three seasonal events(pulse,inter-pulse,and non-pulse),and thus,status was evaluated with 36 *** were analyzed by using frequency distribution,principal component analysis(PCA),student t test,and regression ***:RCS and HCS were recorded minimum(0.005,0.65)during non-pulse event and maximum(0.36,1.79)during pulse event *** this approach,multi-directional temporal status of lands identified that were grouped into lower(7),moderate(14),high(12),and very high(3)quality ***:This integrated study suggested that in arid regions,although rainfall triggers plant community composition,however,sole utilization of this parameter is unable to portray the true status of lands,and other physical(soil)and biotic(livestock and other anthropogenic)parameters are equally important and influential during other events.

Wastewater effluents from textile dyeing and printing industries of Sanganer are discharged directly, without any treatment, into Amani Shah Nallah drainage. The drainage water takes the dissolved toxicants to flora and fauna, including crops and seasonal vegetables, being grown in the land adjoining the Nallah drainage. Thus mutagenic potential of vegetables irrigated by the water of Amani Shah Nallah drainage was investigated in the present study. The vegetables irrigated by ground water from Sanganer have also been analyzed to determine possible adverse effects of these wastewater effluents on aqua duct.

Earth Air Tunnel Heat Exchanger(EATHE)systems are not so much popular in India because of restricted acces-sibility of ground space in majority of residential and commercial *** the present article,thermal perfor-mance of newly designed helical shaped EATHE system has been compared with conventional U-shaped EATHE system by keeping similar geometrical and operational configuration for the summer(April-June)and winter(December-February),*** this regard,therefore,numerical model of both EATHE systems have been designed and experimentally *** thermal performance of both EATHE systems has been compared in terms of outlet air temperature and *** present numerical study suggested that the newly designed helical EATHE system exhibits better thermal performance with lower ground requirement as compared to con-ventional U-shaped EATHE *** evaluate the thermal comfort potential of EATHE system in office buildings of India,composite climate specific adaptive thermal comfort boundaries has been *** detailed thermal performance behaviour of the EATHE system suggests that an additional 80%of the time;ambient air condi-tions became thermally comfortable during peak summer *** addition,analysis of the results revealed that EATHE system has more potential during heating operation mode to maintain indoor comfort in winter season of composite climate in India.

Acute pancreatitis in acute viral hepatitis

AIM: To elucidate the frequency and characteristics of pancreatic involvement in the course of acute (nonfulminant) viral hepatitis. METHODS: We prospectively assessed the pancreatic involvement in patients with acute viral hepatitis who presented with severe abdomimanl pain. RESULTS: We studied 124 patients with acute viral hepatitis, of whom 24 presented with severe abdominal pain. Seven patients (5.65%) were diagnosed to have acute pancreatitis. All were young males. Five patients had pancreatitis in the first week and two in the fourth week after the onset of jaundice. The pancreatitis was mild and all had uneventful recovery from both pancreatitis and hepatitis on conservative treatment. The etiology of pancreatitis was hepatitis E virus in 4, hepatitis A virus in 2, and hepatitis B virus in 1 patient. One patient had biliary sludge along with HEV infection. The abdominal pain of remaining seventeen patients was attributed to stretching of Glisson's capsule. CONCLUSION: Acute pancreatitis occurs in 5.65% of patients with acute viral hepatitis, it is mild and recovers with conservative management.

Performance of Photovoltaic-double skin façade(Photovoltaic-DSF)system in summer has been *** to high solar ingress,cooling requirement of a building significantly ***-DSF system provides a shield and controls the heat gain through fenestration in the interior *** the present article,mathematical correlations are developed for energy characterization of forced-ventilated Photovoltaic-DSF system in India’s hot summer zone *** Photovoltaic-DSF system has been installed and monitored for Jaipur’s summer months(May to July).L25 Orthogonal array of design parameters(air cavity thickness,air velocity,and PV panel’s transparency)and their respective levels have been developed using Taguchi design to perform *** on experimental results,multiple linear regression has been used to forecast solar heat gain coefficient,PVs electrical power and daylighting illuminance indoors as function of design *** statistical significance of mathematical relationships is sorted by variance analysis,which is found to be in good accord with field measurements(R2>0.90).The proposed correlations are pragmatic in designing Photovoltaic-DSF systems for hot summer *** Photovoltaic-DSF system with 30%transmittance and air velocity of 5 metres per second in 200 mm air cavity thickness achieved maximum energy performance in hot summers.
