Prospective use of bacteriocinogenic Pediococcus pentosaceus as direct-fed microbial having methane reducing potential

Direct-fed microbials（DFM）, generally regarded as safe status, are successfully used in improving rumen ecology, gastro-intestinal health, feed efficiency, milk production and growth rate in ruminants. On the other hand, methanogenesis in rumen, which accounts for a significant loss of ruminant energy and increased greenhouse gas in environment, is of great concern, therefore, use of DFM for improving productivity without compromising the animal health and ecological sustainability is encouraged. The present study was conducted to investigate the methane reducing potential of bacteriocinogenic strain Pediococcus pentosaceus-34. Since, the culture showed no hemolysis on blood agar and DNase activity, hence, it was considered to be avirulent in nature, a prerequisite for any DFM. The culture also showed tolerance to pH 5.0 for 24 h with 0.5% organic acid mixture, whereas when given a shock for 2 h at different p H and organic acids concentrations, it showed growth at pH 3.0 and 4.0 with 0.1 and 1.0% organic acids, respectively, as having good animal probiotics attributes. The total gas production was significantly（P〈0.05） higher in live pedicoccal culture（LPc） and dead pedicoccal culture（DPc） both with wheat straw, when compared to the control. In sugarcane bagasse, gas production was significantly lower（P〈0.05） with LPc compared to the control and DPc both. Methane was reduced by the inclusion of LPc in sugarcane bagasse（0.07 mL cH4 mg–1 dry matter digestibility） with no effect on other rumen fermentation parameters. However, with wheat straw and LPc total gas, in vitro dry matter digestibility, total volatile fatty acids increased significantly but no reduction in methane production was observed in comparison to the control. Therefore, further research is warranted in this direction, if the bacteriocinogenic strains can be used as DFM for ruminants to improve the ruminant productivity.

A novel mathematical morphology based algorithm for shoreline extraction from satellite images

In terms of hydropower resources in the country, Nepal ranks second in the world. But it has not acted seriously in terms of utilization. The effort began from the Rana days when they ruled the country for more than century. For energy, unfortunately, the country has at times sought thermal source rather than *** energy needs, it first depended upon foreign aid in the earlier dates. As late as in the ＇60s, it depended upon such assistance rather than developing its own. So much so, that it imported electrical power from neighbouring country. Later, it was developed both under foreign aid as well the multilateral assistance and loan. The electricity generation gradually became more and more costly. Only later, genuine private sectors have joined the energy market. But the terms and conditions have not always been in the national interest. There is a wide variation in cost of energy under different conditions of power development in the country, from the cheapest to the costliest. Both for generation and distribution, Nepal Electric corporation should no longer continue its *** sector should be promoted given more role to play for economy and *** paper discusses the different options available and practised in Nepal.

Effect of Helicobacter pylori-eradication therapy on hepatic steatosis in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease:a randomized–controlled pilot study

Background:Helicobacter pylori infection has been associated with insulin resistance and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).This study was done to evaluate the effect of ***-eradication therapy(HPET)in patients with NAFLD compared to standard management therapy(SMT).Methods:Eighty NAFLD patients with *** co-infection were randomized into SMT(diet and exercise,n=36)and HPET(SMT plus amoxicillin,clarithromycin,and pantoprazole,n=44)*** controlled attenuation parameter(cAP),anthropometric parameters,liver enzymes,lipid profile,and glycemic parameters including homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance(HOMA-IR)were measured and compared between two groups at the baseline and 24 ***:Sixty-four participants(SMT group[n=28]and HPET group[n=36])were included in amodified intention-to-treat *** the SMT group and the HPET group had a significant reduction in cAP scores at 24weeks(P=0.002 and Pctively),but the change between the groups was insignificant(P=0.213).Successful eradication of *** occurred in 68%of the HPET group and led to greater improvement in HOMA-IR at 24weeks compared to SMT or non-responder patients(P=0.007).The liver enzymes reduced significantly at 24weeks in both groups,but the changes between the groups were *** lipid parameters remained unchanged within the groups and between the groups at 24weeks.A significant increase in the levels of reduced glutathione was noted in the HPET group,but the change between the two groups was not statistically ***:HPET was found to be comparable to SMT alone in reducing hepatic steatosis and liver enzymes at 24 weeks in NAFLD ***,successful eradication of *** led to greater improvement in HOMA-IR(Trial registration cTRI/2017/05/008608).

Study of structural, electrical, and photoluminescent properties of SrceO3 and Sr2ceO4

Phase pure powders of SrceO3 and Sr2ce O4 have been synthesized by calcination at 1000℃for 14 h via solid state ceramic ***/pellets of these samples have been obtained by sintering at 1200℃for 12 *** Rietveld refinement of X-ray diffraction(XRD)pattern of sintered powders confirmed orthorhombic structure of both the samples with space group Pnma and Pbam for SrceO3 and Sr2ceO4,*** electron microscopic(SEM)studies indicated that both the compounds have dense microstructure,but morphology and size of the grains are *** impedance spectroscopy technique has been employed to study the relaxation *** conductivity of the samples has been measured in the temperature range of 200–600℃to understand the conduction *** activation energy for relaxation(Erelax)and Dc conduction(Econd)are found to be the same for both the *** on the numerical value of activation energies,relaxation and conduction mechanism in both the samples are attributed to migration of doubly ionized oxygen vacancies(Vo··).Photoluminescence technique has been employed to confirm the existence of oxygen *** studies have indicated that migration of oxygen vacancies in Sr2ceO4 is occurring mainly along a and c direction,i.e.,via perovskite ***,the present work has clearly indicated that besides optical properties,electrical properties of Sr2ceO4 are also interesting and can be utilized for various applications such as oxide ion conduction electrolyte in solid oxide fuel cells(SOFcs).

Photo-irradiation of 2-（5-methylthiophen-2-yl）-3-[（naphthalen-2-yl）methoxy]-4H-chromen-4-ones yielded the fascinating angular tetracyclic products via cyclization involving both 2-thienyl ring and naphthylmethoxy group via 1,4-biradical generated in the Norrish type-II process. The stereochemical dispositions of the products were determined by MM2 energy minimized programme and spectroscopic analysis.

Maximum Power Enhancement Under Partial Shadings Using a Modified Sudoku Reconfiguration

Partial shading is one of the important factors in reducing maximum power generation from PV(Photovoltaic)*** power generation can be improved by selecting a PV array through a Total-cross-Tied(T-c-T)***,maximum power generated from T-c-T can still be improved by distribution of shading over various *** to distribution of shading,the current entering the node increases and results in improved maximum power *** can be done effectively by using Sudoku reconfiguration *** techniques are economical,since they don’t require any sensors and switching *** technique only changes the physical location of the PV panel but the electrical connection between the panels remains the *** paper proposes a Modified Sudoku reconfiguration pattern which enhances the maximum power from the T-c-T connected PV ***,the theoretical calculation of row current and power output have been done for existing and proposed topologies under various shading *** performance of the proposed pattern has been analyzed and compared using specifications,such as Global Maximum Power(GMP),Fill Factor(FF),mismatch losses,and *** the results,it can be concluded that the Modified Sudoku reconfiguration enhances the GMP under all shading conditions.
