Evaluation of antipyretic activity of ethyl acetate extract of Adenema hyssopifolium *** in a rat model

Objective:To evaluate the effect of ethyl acetate extract of Adenema hyssopifolium(AHEAE) on normal body temperature and brewer’s yeast-induced pyrexia ***:Preliminary phytochemical tests,acute toxicity tests and antipyretic evaluation were carried out in ethyl acetate extract of Adenoma hyssopifolium,.Two doses of the extract(300 or 600 mg/kg orally) and standard antipyretic agent,paracetamol at a dose of 150 mg/kg were administered to various group of the *** rectal temperature before and after treatment was ***:The phytochemical analysis of AHEAE revealed the presence of flavonoid and iridoid glycosides as major *** administration of AHEAE at a dose of 300 or 600 mg/kg produced significant reduction(P<0.001 and P<0.01) of the body temperature in normal and pyrexia rats on a dose dependent *** antipyretic influence of AHEAE was comparable to that of standard antipyretic agent,paracetamol(150 mg/kg),and onset of action and reduction in pyrexia towards normal body temperature was delayed when compared to paracetamol *** dose of 600 mg/kg,AHEAE reduced pyrexia to normal body temperature at 4 h after its administration compared to reduction of pyrexia to normal body temperature at 2 h by standard *** reduction of fever was consistent in paracetamol group from 2 to 4 h after its administration to normal body temperature compared to AHEAE ***:Our present results corroborate with the traditional notion of Adenema hyssopifolium *** that is being used as an effective cure of fever and add authenticity to claim of indigenous healers that the taxon is a potential antipyretic agent.

Medical treatment of men with primary spermatogenic failure remains largely ineffective in contrast to those with secondary testicular failure. Treatment has been attempted with a multitude of agents ranging from hormones to nutritional supplements （antioxidants）. While some studies have demonstrated benefit to some treatments, no treatments have consistently demonstrated efficacy nor has it been possible to reliably identify patients likely to benefit. Idiopathic spermatogenic failure likely results from multiple discrete defects in sperm production that are as yet unidentified. A better understanding of these defects will yield more effective treatment options and appropriate triage of patients to specific therapeutic regimens. This review focuses on the rationale and current evidence for hormonal and antioxidant therapy in medical treatment of male infertility, spermatogenic failure in particular. Although empiric medical therapy for spermatogenic failure has been largely replaced by assisted reproductive techniques, both treatment modalities could play a role, oerhaos as combination therapy.

Insulin resistance(IR)has a nexus with metabolic *** homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance(HOMA-IR),HOMA-β,quantitative insulin sensitivity check index(QUICKI),glucoseinsulin ratio,and triglyceride(TAG)/high density lipoprotein(HDL)have been increasingly recognized as insulin sensitivity/resistance markers[1].Hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamp(HEC),the gold standard,has inherent practical demerits and thus paves the way for a simplified but objectivized approach to quantifying insulin sensitivity/resistance.

Changes in the climatic system introduce uncertainties in the supply and management of water resources. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC) predicts an increase of 2 to 4 °C over the next 100 years. Temperature increases will impact the hydrologic cycle by directly increasing the evaporation of surface water sources. Consequently, changes in precipitation will indirectly impact the flux and storage of water in surface and subsurface reservoirs(i.e., lakes, soil moisture, groundwater, etc.). In addition, increases in temperature contribute to increases in the sea level, which may lead to sea water intrusions, water quality deterioration, potable water shortages, etc. Climate change has direct impacts on the surface water and the control of storage in rivers, lakes and reservoirs, which indirectly controls the groundwater recharge process. The main and direct impact of climate change on groundwater is changes in the volume and distribution of groundwater recharge. The impact of climate change on groundwater resources requires reliable forecasting of changes in the major climatic variables and accurate estimations of groundwater recharge. A number of Global Climate Models(GCMs) are available for understanding climate and projecting climate *** GCMs can be downscaled to a basin scale, and when they are coupled with relevant hydrological models, the output of these coupled models can be used to quantify the groundwater recharge, which will facilitate the adoption of appropriate adaptation strategies under the impact of climate change.

Crystals of DL-threonium trichloroacetate (DLTTCA) was synthesized from an aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique. The grown crystals were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, UV-Vis-NIR and SHG measurements. Vibrational structure of the crystal was elucidated from FTIR analysis and the hydrogen bond interactions were discussed in detail. The ultraviolet transparent cutoff falls at 212 nm. Thermal stability of the compound was also studied. The powder SHG efficiency of the compound was measured as 0.62 times to that of KDP.

Infertility affects approximately 15% of couples, and male factor is responsible for 30%-50% of all infertility. The most severe form of male infertility is testicular failure, and the typical phenotype of testicular failure is severely impaired spermatogenesis resulting in azoospermia or severe oligozoospermia. Although the etiology of testicular failure remains poorly understood, genetic factor typically is an underlying cause. Modern assisted reproductive techniques have revolutionized the treatment of male factor infertility, allowing biological fatherhood to be achieved by many men who would otherwise have been unable to become father to their children through natural conception. Therefore, identifying genetic abnormalities in male is critical because of the potential risk of transmission of genetic abnormalities to the offspring. Recently, along with other intense researches ongoing, whole-genome approaches have been used increasingly in the genetic studies of male infertility. Background:Loss of cells in the human trabecular meshwork(TM)has been reported with ageing and in *** study aims to identify,quantify and determine the age-related changes of human TM stem cells(TMSCs).Methods:Isolation of TM cells/paraffin sectioning was carried out using human corneoscleral rings and whole *** TM cells/sections were immunostained for the stem cell markers ATP-binding cassette protein G2(ABCG2),nerve growth factor receptor p75 and AnkyrinG(AnkG).Images were acquired using Leica SP8 confocal *** isolated cells were analyzed for two parameters-ABCG2 expression and nucleus to cytoplasmic ratio(N/C ratio).The total number of TM cells and those positive for ABCG2 and p75 in each section were *** rank order correlation was used to determine the association between age and the cell ***:The TMSCs were identified based on two parameters-high ABCG2 expression and high N/C ratio>*** stem cells were also positive for p75 and *** TMSC content based on the two parameters was 21.0±1.4%in60 *** stem cells with high ABCG2 and p75 expression were restricted to the Schwalbe’s line region of the TM.A significant correlation was observed between the reduction in TMSC content and TM cell count during ***:The human TMSCs were identified and quantified based on two parameter *** study established a significant association between age-related reduction in TMSC content and TM cell loss.

A varicocele is defined as the abnormal dilation of the internal testicular vein and pampiniform venus plexus within the spermatic cord. If a semen analysis is not obtained from the adolescent male, in the absence of other symptoms, the main clinical indication used by many urologists to recommend repair is testicular atrophy. The varicocele may result in testicular damage in some males causing testicular atrophy with impaired sperm production and decreased Leydig cell function, while in other males the varicocele may seemingly cause no ill effects. In adult men, varicoceles are frequently present and surgically correctable, yet the measurable benefits of surgical repair are slight according to a Cochrane review. While occurring more commonly in infertile men than fertile men, only 20% of men with a documented varicocele will suffer from fertility problems. Most varicoceles found in adolescents are detected during a routine medical examination, and it is difficult to predict which adolescent presenting with a varicocele will ultimately show diminished testicular function in adolescence or adulthood. As in adults, the mainstay of treatment for varicocele in adolescents is surgical correction. However, unlike an adult varicocelectomy （the microsurgical approach is the most common）, treatment for an adolescent varicocele is more often laparoscopic. Nevertheless, the goals of treatment are the same in the adolescent and adult patients. Controversy remains as to which patients to treat, when to initiate the treatment, and what type of treatment is the best. This review will present the current understanding of the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of the adolescent varicocele.
