Bemisia tabaci adults from various host-plant species were collected from 31 regions across India.266 *** samples were first screened by RAPD-PCR to exam.ne molecular variability and to select individuals with different ***-plant and region of collection were then used to select 25 individuals for PCR amplification and sequencing of their partial mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit one（mtCOI）*** comparisons with mtCOI consensus sequences showed that the majority of these samples had 〈3.5% sequence divergence from groups currently termed Asia I,Asia II-5,Asia II-7,and Asia *** biotype-B *** from India clustered into the middle East-Asia m.nor 1 group.A new group of *** from Coimbatore,collected from pumpkin,was related most closely to the Asia I group（6.2% sequence divergence from the consensus Asia I sequence）.To increase our understanding of the epidemiology of tomato leaf curl disease（ToLCD）and the key *** genetic groups involved in virus spread,the indigenous Asia I and the exotic biotype-B population from South India were used to carry out transmission experim.nts using Tomato leaf curl Bangalore virus（ToLCBV）.The acquisition access periods（AAP）,inoculation access periods（IAP）,latent periods（LP）,and ToLCBV transmission efficiencies of the two populations were compared and the biotype-B had the more efficient transmission *** results are discussed in relation to recent changes in the epidemiology of tomato leaf curl disease in South India.

Asphaltene Surface Erosion in Air Plasma

Optical emission spectroscopy was applied for plasma characterization during erosion of substrates of asphaltene. The amount of 100 mg of asphaltene was carefully applied to an electrode and exposed to air plasma glow discharge at a pressure of 1.0 Tort. The plasma was generated in a stainless steel discharge chamber by an AC generator with a frequency of 60 Hz and an output power of about 60 W. The electron temperature was found to be 6.88 eV, and the ion density is about 3.5×10^16 cm^-3. As the asphaltene was exposed to the air plasma, the surface was etched. The emission from molecular bands CS2,O3, n2^＋, nO, O2, CS, S2, Cn, C7H7, C2, H2, C2^-, niO, n2 and SO, and atomic line O, were observed and some of them were used to m.nitor the evolution of asphaltene erosion. The asphaltene weight was reduced gradually with an etching rate of about 0.844 mg/m.n, during the first 20 m.n.

OBJECTIVE To assess the role of beta-blockers(BB)in patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD)aged≥75 *** AnD RESULTS From January 2008 to July 2014,we included 390 consecutive patients≥75 years of age with ejection fraction≤35%and glomerular filtration rate(GFR)≤60 m L/m.n per 1.73 m^*** analyzed the relationship between treatm.nt with BB and mortality or cardiovascular *** mean age of our population was 82.6±4.1 *** ejection fraction was 27.9%±6.5%.GFR was 60-45 m L/m.n per 1.73 m^2 in 50.3%of patients,45-30 m L/m.n per 1.73 m^2 in 37.4%,andm L/m.n per 1.73 m^2 in 12.3%.At the conclusion of follow-up,67.4%of patients were receiving *** median follow-up was28.04(IR:19.41-36.67)*** the study period,211 patients(54.1%)died and 257(65.9%)had a major cardiovascular event(death or hospitalization for heart failure).BB use was significantly associated with a reduced risk of death(HR=0.51,95%CI:0.35-0.74;Pnts receiving BB consistently showed a reduced risk of death across the different stages of CKD:stage IIIa(GFR=30-45 m L/m.n per 1.73 m^2;HR=0.47,95%CI:0.26-0.86,Pm L/m.n per 1.73 m^2;HR=0.55,95%CI:0.26-1.06,P=0.007),and stages IV and V(GFRm L/m.n per 1.73 m~2;HR=0.29,95%CI:0.11-0.76;P=0.047).COnCLUSIOnS The use of BB in elderly patients with HFr EF and renal impairm.nt was associated with a better *** of BB should be encouraged when possible.

BACKGROUnD Type 1 diabetes(T1D)is a complex disease with a higher incidence in Europeans than other *** Colombians Living in medellin(CLm)is admixed with ancestry contributions from Europeans,native Americans(nAT)and Africans(AFR).AIm Our aim was to analyze the genetic admixture component at candidate T1D loci in Colombian individuals with the *** Seventy-four ancestry informative markers(AIms),which tagged 41 T1D candidate loci/genes,were tested by studying a cohort of 200 northwest Colombia diseased individuals.T1D status was classified by testing for glutamic acid decarboxylase(GAD-65 kDa)and protein tyrosine-like antigen-2 autoantibodies in serum *** loci/genes included HLA,InS,PTPn22,CTLA4,IL2RA,SUmO4,CLEC16A,IFIH1,EFR3B,IL7R,nRP1 and RnASEH1,am.ngst *** 1,000 genome database was used to analyze data from 94 individuals corresponding to the reference *** the data did not comply with a normal distribution,medians were compared between groups using the m.nn-Whitney *** Both T1D patients and individuals from CLm displayed mainly European ancestry(61.58 vs 62.06)followed by native American(27.34 vs 27.46)and to a lesser extent the AFR ancestry(10.28 vs 10.65)***,compared to CLm,ancestry of T1D patients displayed a decrease of nAT ancestry at gene EFR3B(24.30 vs 37.10)and an increase at genes IFIH1(32.07 vs 14.99)and IL7R(52.18 vs 39.18).Also,for gene nRP1(36.67 vs 0.003),we observed a non-AFR contribution(attributed to nAT).Autoimm.ne patients(positive for any of two auto-antibodies)displayed lower nAT ancestry than idiopathic patients at the mHC region(20.36 vs 31.88).Also,late onset patients presented with greater AFR ancestry than early onset patients at gene IL7R(19.96 vs 6.17).An association analysis showed that,even after adjusting for admixture,an association exists for at least seven such AIms,with the strongest findings on chromosomes 5 and 10(gene IL7R,P=5.56×10-6 and gene nRP1,P=8.

metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease(mAFLD)is a new nom.nclature recently proposed by a panel of international experts so that the entity is defined based on positive criteria and linked to pathogenesis,replacing the traditional non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(nAFLD),a definition based on exclusion ***/mAFLD is currently the most comm.n form of chronic liver disease worldwide and is a growing risk factor for developm.nt of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).It is estimated than 25%of the global population have nAFLD and is projected to increase in the next *** Scientific Societies agree that surveillance for HCC should be indicated in patients with nAFLD/mAFLD and cirrhosis but differ in non-cirrhotic patients(including those with advanced fibrosis).Several studies have shown that the annual incidence rate of HCC in nAFLD-cirrhosis is greater than 1%,thus surveillance for HCC is *** factors that increase HCC incidence in these patients are male gender,older age,presence of diabetes and any degree of alcohol *** non-cirrhotic patients,the incidence of HCC is much lower and variable,being a great challenge to stratify the risk of HCC in this ***,large epidemiological studies based on the general population have shown that diabetes and obesity significantly increase risk of *** genetic variants may also play a role modifying the HCC occurrence am.ng patients with *** purpose of this review is to discuss the epidemiology,clinical and genetic risk factors that may influence the risk of HCC in nAFLD/mAFLD patients and propose screening strategy to translate into better patient care.
