This paper considers the problem of hydrodynamics and thermal boundary layers of Darcy flow over horizontal surface embedded in a porous medium. The solutions of such problems for the cases of uniform surface temperature and variable surface temperature have been studied and analysed in many papers. This paper, however, attempts to find similarity solutions for the Darcy flow problem with a convective boundary condition at the plate surface. It is found that the solution is possible when the heat transfer coefficient is proportional to x–2/3. The numerical solutions thus obtained are analyzed for a range of values of the parameter characterizing the hot fluid convection process. Analytical expressions are provided for local surface heat flux and total surface heat transfer rate while the flow variables are discussed graphically.

Free Convection Flow between Vertical Plates Moving in Opposite Direction and Partially Filled with Porous Medium

The laminar fully developed free-convection flow in a channel bounded by two vertical plates, partially filled with porous matrix and partially with a clear fluid, has been discussed when both the plates are moving in opposite direction. Two regions are coupled, by equating the velocity and shear stress at the interface. The momentum transfer in porous medium has been described by the Brinkman-extended Darcy model. The affect of Darcy number on flow velocity has been discussed in fluid region, interface region and porous medium with the help of graphs. Analytic method has been adopted to obtain the expressions of velocity and temperature. The skin-friction component has also been determined and presented with the help of tables.

Differences in Tree Species Diversity and Soil Nutrient Status in a Tropical Sacred Forest Ecosystem on Niyamgiri Hill Range,Eastern Ghats,India

We have quantitatively analyzed the tree species diversity with respect to soil nutrient status in three sites of a sacred forest ecosystem of Niyamgiri hill range,Eastern Ghats,*** field surveys and sampling were conducted in 3 sites of the hill range:Site 1 Pterocarpus dominated forest(PTF)(19°40'02.2" N and 83°21'23.1" E),Site 2 Mangifera dominated forest(MAF)(19°40'02.8" N and 83°21'40.8" E) and Site 3 Mixed forest(MIF)(19°36'47.1" N and 83°21'02.7" E).A total of 28 families,42 genera,46 tree species,and 286 individual trees were recorded on an area of 0.6 *** density varied between 470 and 490 individuals ha-1 and average basal area between 3.16 and 10.04 m2 *** Index(H') ranged from 2.34 to 4.53,Simpson's Index ranged from 0.07 to 0.09,and equitability Index ranged from 0.7 to *** number of individuals was highest in the girth at breast height(GBH) class of 50-70 *** soil nutrient status of the three forest types was related to tree species *** soil pH value of the three sites reflected the slightly acidic nature of the *** diversity was positively correlated with organic carbon and phosphorus and negatively with nitrogen,EC and *** results of the current study may be helpful to further develop a conservation planfor tree species in tropical sacred forest ecosystems.

The monogeneans parasitizing skin,fins,gills of fishes and are pathogenic to cultivated fish and a few have caused epizootic *** paper presents a catalogue of known species of the class monogenea from the freshwater fishes of five major river systems of *** is gathered from all the published records of monogenean species from India and also from NCBI database for molecular studies,including the fish data gathered from *** 50 families of freshwater fishes have been reported from five Indian major river systems,having 159 nominal *** far as freshwater monogeneans are concerned about,14 families having 44 genera and 208 species have been *** all,the present study takes a broad look at monogenean diversity in the freshwater fishes of *** available information indicates the rich diversity of these parasites in India for that an integrated approach is necessary which should start with morphological characterization followed by molecular characterization of monogenean parasites in all river system of *** that subsequent comparison of monogenean fauna present in different river systems of India can be made.
