The blasting operation plays a pivotal role in the overall economics of opencast *** blasting subsystem affects all the other associated sub-systems,***,transport,crushing and milling *** control through effective blast design and its effect on productivity are the challenging tasks for practicing blasting engineer due to inadequate knowledge of actual explosive energy released in the borehole,varying initiation practice in blast design and its effect on explosive energy release *** paper describes the result of a systematic study on the impact of blast design parameters on rock fragmentation at three mines in *** mines use draglines and shoveledumper combination for removal of *** its pivotal role in controlling the overall economics of a mining operation,the expected blasting performance is often judged almost exclusively on the basis of poorly defined parameters such as powder factor and is often qualitative which results in very subjective assessment of blasting *** an approach is very poor substitutes for accurate assessment of explosive and blasting *** one blasts were conducted with varying blast designs and charging patterns,and their impacts on the rock fragmentation were documented.A high-speed camera was deployed to record the detonation sequences of the *** efficiency of the loading machines was also correlated with the mean fragment size obtained from the fragmentation analyses.

Purpose Common peroneal nerve palsy is quite disabling and every effort should be made to prevent its injury during the *** We retrospectively reviewed the prospectively collected data of 7 cases of tibial plateau fractures in association with proximal fibula fracture from January 2019 to September 2019 who presented to emergency room of our *** In addition to fibular neck fracture,the first case had type 6 tibial plateau displaced fracture and the second case had displaced acetabular fracture with instability of knee with tibial tuberosity *** peroneal nerve palsy developed following application of distal tibial skeletal traction in both the *** 6 such cases remained neurologically intact as traction was not applied to *** Such iatrogenic complication could have been prevented if the injury pattern of"concomitant medial and lateral columns"of the proximal leg is kept in mind by the treating surgeon before applying skeletal traction.

There is enough evidence to show that the forest biomass has decreased significantly in the Indian Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh. The government has responded through restrictive measures to check this decline. Using tree biomass as proxy for degradation, we assessed the current state of biomass within dominant land use types and examined its implications for sustainability. The highest above-ground mean tree biomass density of 1158 t·ha-1 was recorded for the reserved forest followed by 728, 13, 11, 8, 5 and 3 t·ha-1in the protected forest, fallow land, cultivated-unirrigated land, grassland, orchard land and cultivated-irrigated land respectively. Of the total ac- cessible biomass, only 0.31% was extracted annually by the local people for fuel, fodder and other uses. Though, the current level of ex- traction may be sustainable in the short run, insufficient regeneration is observed for long term sustainability. Forest biomass production was simulated for the next 30 years with a logistic growth model and the relative significance of input variables in influencing system be- haviour was analysed through sensitivity analysis. The model results highlighted the declining forest resources in the long run. Positive response through appropriate government policies can, however, change the scenario for the better.

Mechanical systems are characterized through accurate measurement of damping. System damping is related to total energy dissipated within the structure i. e., energy dissipated at the joint, fasteners and interphase in addition to energy dissipated due to the material. In this paper a mathematical model had been developed by combing the four parameter viscoelastic model and bridging model. This model has the capability to predict the loss factor of lamina and with any combination of materials provided the material loss factor of constituent elements are known. Effect of frequency on four loss factors namely longitudinal, transverse, transverse shear and longitudinal shear loss factor of Glass fiber reinforced epoxy (GFRE) has been obtained by using this developed model. Results obtained by this model are validated experimently using Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA). Further effect of frequency (1-100 Hz) on longitudinal, longitudinal shear, transverse and transverse shear loss factors has been measured. Variation of strain amplitude on longitudinal and transverse loss factors has also been measured. Effect of strain variation has been evaluated at different frequency. Effect of fiber angle on damping has been measured. Loss factors increases with increase of strain and strain amplitude.

This paper presents a study carried out on infilled reinforced concrete beams for sustainable construction. In reinforced concrete beams, less stressed concrete below neutral axis can be replaced by some light weight material to reduce the weight of the structure and also achieve the economy. The used infilled material is brick. Sustainability can be achieved by replacing the partially used concrete. By saving concrete, the authors save cement, which reduces the green house gases emissions. So it is considered as environment friendly. Since infilled beam acts like a layered member, there needs a theory to analyze it. Method of initial functions is used for the analysis of the infilled RC （reinforced concrete） beams. This method is successfully applied on infilled beam. Results show that physical conditions are verified for infilled beam.

A bony foreign body found in a patient with no bony injury： a case report

Open fractures with bone loss are a common occurrence following high energy trauma. But usually the bone fragments are lost on the roadside and are not usable. We report a patient who was involved in a head-on collision between two wheelers and presented with a bone fragment embedded in his thigh. Radiological survey revealed no bony injury in that patient. Another patient, who presented at the same time, sustained a segmental fracture of shaft femur and was found to have lost a bone fragment that was similar to the one found in previous patient. CT scan with 3D reconstruction revealed this missing fragment to be the same as that found in previous patient. Both patients had a history of head-on collision while travelling on a two-wheeler. Present case report throws some highlights on the probable mechanism of injury.

Pytoremediation of fluoroquinolone group of antibiotics from waste water

The study involved selection of wetland plant species hyper efficient in removing fluoroquinolone group of antibiotics so that they can be used in a constructed wetland system patented by NEERI, India (European Patent Office (EPO) Pub. No.: WO2004087584) or any other constructed wetland. Phyto removal of these antibiotics at such high concentrations without any toxic effect on the plant species is very useful as incomplete removal of certain antibiotics such as Ciprofloxacin, and Ofloxacin from waste waters is of concern due to their health effects if they do persist in finished waters even at ng/l levels. Five different wetland plant species which were also tested for their efficiency to treat municipal wastewater were used to test their efficiency to scavenge commonly used fluoroquinolone antibiotics (which are not degraded easily) namely Ciprofloxacin, Gemifloxacin mesylate, Ofloxacin and Gatifloxacin from aqueous medium (Hoagland-Arnon solution). EC double beam UV-VIS spectrophotometer was used to obtain lambda max of Ciprofloxacin, Gemifloxacin mesylate, Ofloxacin and Gatifloxacin in Hoagland-Arnon solution. The most efficient plant species for each antibiotic were selected and tested again for confirmation of antibiotic removal efficiency at a high concentration of 50 mg/l of each antibiotic. Taxodium distichum was found to be the most suitable for the removal of Ofloxacin, Gatifloxacin and Ciprofloxacin showing maximum removal of 32 mg/l (on 6th day), 21 mg/l (on 8th day), 32 mg/l (on 9th day), respectively and Canna indica was found to be the most suitable for removal of Gemifloxacin mesylate showing maximum removal of 38 mg/l (on 8th day).

Due to the continuous rising demand of handheld devices like iPods, mobile, tablets;specific applications like biomedical applications like pacemakers, hearing aid machines and space applications which require stable digital systems with low power consumptions are required. As a main part in digital system the SRAM (Static Random Access Memory) should have low power consumption and stability. As we are continuously moving towards scaling for the last two decades the effect of this is process variations which have severe effect on stability, performance. Reducing the supply voltage to sub-threshold region, which helps in reducing the power consumption to an extent but side by side it raises the issue of the stability of the memory. Static Noise Margin of SRAM cell enforces great challenges to the sub threshold SRAM design. In this paper we have analyzed the cell stability of 9T SRAM Cell at various processes. The cell stability is checked at deep submicron (DSM) technology. In this paper we have analyzed the effect of temperature and supply voltage (Vdd) on the stability parameters of SRAM which is Static Noise Margin (SNM), Write Margin (WM) and Read Current. The effect has been observed at various process corners at 45 nm technology. The temperature has a significant effect on stability along with the Vdd. The Cell has been working efficiently at all process corners and has 50% more SNM from conventional 6T SRAM and 30% more WM from conventional 6T SRAM cell.

Recently a lot of medical tablets with special packets in the global market are available. For the safety and purity of the tablet, we need to scan it by developed scanner technology, which should be not more expensive and easily available in the market. The THz technology is one of them. In the proposed work, we have tasted tablet images with the help of the THz super-resolution scanner, which is already available in our lab. The AI machine learning data concept has been investigated. Good resolution of images has been obtained. Furthermore, the challenging research problems are discussed. Finally, it summarizes the recent updates in terahertz technology for drug inspection and medical applications with potential research challenges.
