Experimental charge density distribution and its correlation to structural and optical properties of sm^3＋ doped Nd2O3 nanophosphors

Pure and smdoped NdOnanophosphors were synthesized using modified Pechini method. The phase formation with symmetry of the sample is confirmed by the Rietveld refinement of the powder Xray diffraction(PXRD) data. The surface morphology and the crystallite size were examined using scanning electron microscopy(sEM) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and the results confirmed that the synthesized particles are in nanosize. The energy-dispersive X-ray(EDX) analysis was done to confirm the purity of the sample. The optical properties of the sample were studied using ultraviolet-visible range(UV-Vis) spectroscopic analysis and photoluminescence studies. The calculated band gap of the synthesized NdOwas found to be higher than that of bulk NdO. The photoluminescence(PL) of the prepared samples reveals that doping with sm3+ ion has influenced the optical properties. Quantitative investigation on charge density distribution was done by analysing the 3-dimensional and 2-dimensional charge density maps drawn along the bonding directions. The maximum entropy method(MEM)/Rietveld analysis was used for the first time to analyse the charge density in the chosen system. Charge density arrangement in the unit cell is correlated to the analysed photoluminescent(PL) properties. The spectral behaviour of the samples has been explained through charge ordering which are verified using experimental data obtained. The studies on these materials have shown that these nanophosphors will provide promising application for near-ultraviolet lightemitting diodes(n-UV-LEDs).

The sHP-1 protein encoded by the Ptpn6 gene has been extensively studied in hematopoietic cells in the context of inflammation.A point mutation in this gene(Ptpn6spin)causes spontaneous inflammation in mice,which has a striking similarity to neutrophilic dermatoses in *** findings highlighted the role of signaling adapters and kinases in promoting inflammation in Ptpn6spin mice;however,the underlying transcriptional regulation is poorly ***,we report that sYK is important for driving neutrophil infiltration and initiating wound healing responses in Ptpn6spin ***,we found that deletion of the transcription factor Ets2 in myeloid cells ameliorates cutaneous inflammatory disease in Ptpn6spin mice through transcriptional regulation of its target inflammatory ***,Ets-2 drives IL-1α-mediated inflammatory signaling in neutrophils of Ptpn6spin ***,in addition to its well-known role in driving inflammation in cancer,Ets-2 plays a major role in regulating IL-1α-driven Ptpn6spin-mediated neutrophilic dermatoses.

AIM: Although epidemiological and experimental studies validate influence of genetic, environmental and dietary factors in the causation of various types of cancers including colon, results from all these sources are *** that high fat diet and obesity are among the major predisposing factors in the incidence of colon cancer,we evaluated the role of diet constituted with food material derived from a tropical plant, Tamarindus indica Linn (TI).METHODs: A two part randomized double-blind study was conducted employing inbred swiss albino mice from a single generation for the whole investigation. One day-old neonates (n = 12) were subcutaneously administered with monosodium glutamate (MsG) to induce obesity (OB). At weaning these animals were maintained on modified AIN-76 diet supplemented with 10% TI and 10% fat bolus (w/w, TIFB) for 8 wk. subsequently, in the second part of study, four groups of animals belonging to the same generation, age and gender (n = 12 per group), were maintained on: AIN-76 control diet (CD); AIN-76 mixed with 10% TI extract (TI); and, mixed with 10% TI and 10% FB (TIFB) for 8 wk, to determine intestinal crypt cell proliferation, functionally-specific enzyme activities,fermentation profile, and energy ***: We observed a significant increase in the crypt cell production rate in distal colonic segment of experimental animals when compared with the controls. This segment also contained significantly low butyrate levels compared to control and TIFB groups. Development and Identification of Novel Rice Blast Resistant sources and Their Characterization Using Molecular Markers

To develop and characterize introgression lines for leaf and neck blast resistance, 326 introgression lines were developed using various accessions of six different AA genome wild species in the genetic background of elite Indian varieties like PRl14 and Pusa 44 and were screened for blast resistance. stringent phenotyping coupled with genotyping using gene based markers led to the identification of four resistant introgression lines, which showed promising resistance and do not possess any of the tested genes. Furthermore, multi-location screening confirmed the field resistance of the four introgression lines to both leaf and neck blast. Molecular characterization of these introgression lines using genome-wide simple sequence repeat markers revealed the presence of small percentage of wild Oryza genome introgrssion. so these lines can be used for mapping and identification of novel leaf and neck blast resistance genes. Thus, these four introgression lines can be considered as new genetic resources for blast resistance.

Exploring the bioactive potential of serriatia marcescens VITAPI （Acc： 1933637） isolated from soil

BACKGROUND： serratia is one of the most important groups of bacteria which produces proteolytic enzymes effectively and known to possess anti-inflammatory properties. The main focus of the current study was to extract the enzyme serratiopeptidase and pigment prodigiosin from serratia mascescens. Prodigiosin is a red colored pigment produced by the bacterium serratia marcescens. It is emerging as a valuable molecule because of its large applications. It has already been proved that pigmented strain of serratia marcescens is less virulent than non-pigmented strains. Moreover the strain we have obtained is from farm soil which indicates that prodigiosin production can be carded safely using this strain. METHODs： In the present study, the isolate VITAsP strain was confirmed by morphological, biochemical and molecular studies. The enzyme and pigment were analyzed for anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and cytotoxic properties. REsULTs： The isolate was further confirmed and identified as serratia marcescens with 99% similarity. The extracted pigment showed potent radical scavenging effect with 86% and the enzyme was found to inhibit 83%, which was significant in comparison to ascorbic acid standard. The in vitro anti-inflammatory effect of pigment in controlled experimental conditions revealed its protection at 88% and the enzyme with 90%. Aspirin was used as the reference drug. The present findings exhibited a concentration dependent inhibition. The cytotoxic bioassay of pigment showed the IC5o value as （50） ~tg/mL with 63% cytotoxicity which was statistically significant compared to positive control. CONCLUsIONs： Therefore, it appears to be an essential remedial and application research. It may turn out to be highly beneficial to mankind in solving many problems associated with human health.

Length-weight relationship provides basic information of a fi sh’s condition while the morphometric data of otolith has been traditionally used to determine the range of fi sh sizes for various *** length-weight relationship of Terapon jarbua(Forskål,1775)was examined from 165 specimens,while 132 specimens were used in sagittal otolith biometry *** specimens were obtained from various locations in Malaysia including Pahang,selangor,sarawak,and *** total length of fi sh ranged 12.5–32.5 cm,while the total weight ranged 26.28–444.30 *** otolith length ranged 0.423–1.070 cm,and the otolith weight was 0.0103–0.1572 *** specimens displayed a mixture of positive and negative allometry growth as indicated by fl uctuating b values between 2.74 and *** overall coeffi cient of determination(R 2)between fi sh length and weight was 0.9729,which implies a strong *** regressions between the fi sh length and otolith dimensions were highly signifi cant(Psions found to be most closely related to the fi sh total length was the otolith *** was supported by the regression model showing a high R 2 value of 86.57%.The aspect ratio of otolith was 1.80±0.14(mean±sD).Results confi rm that the otolith growth refl ects the somatic growth of *** length-weight relationship explained the growth conditions of the fi shes in each location while the overall b value of 2.91 indicates that the condition of *** grown in Malaysian waters during the study period was generally in good *** study contributed to the database on the morphometric data of otolith of *** as well as the fi rst report on fi sh length-weight relationship for *** in Malaysia.

Characterization of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in PM2.s and PMlo in Tanggu District, Tianjin Binhai New Area, China

Particulate matter （PMlo and PM2.5） concentrations were monitored during the November 2008 by using the filter samples collected day and night from three sites in Tanggu District at Tianjin Binhai New Area, China. The mean concentrations of PM2.5 and PMlo rank in the order of urban （150 ug/m3 for PM2.5 and 197 ug/m3 for PM10）〉 industrial （32 ug/m3 for PM2.5 and 170 ug/m3 for PM10）〉 suburb area （27 ug/m3 for PM2.5 and 59 ug/m3 for PM10）. sixteen polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons （PAHs） were analyzed in PMlo and PM2.5 samples. Concentrations of total PAHs in PM2.5 and PMlo are in the range of 8.47- 113.94ng/m3 with average of 62.88ng/m3 and 21.07- 118.23 ng/m3 with average of 73.42 ng/m3, respectively. The light ring PAils （2-4 rings） are dominant in both PM2.5 and PMlo during sampling time compares with the heavy ring （5-6 rings） PAHs. The relationship of PAHs and PM2.5 （r = 0.689, p 〈 0.05） is stronger than PAHs and PMlo （r = 0.570, p 〈 0.05）, illustrating PAHs tend to adsorb in PM2.5. In addition, principal component analysis was applied to find the source of PAHs. Three principal factors representing three types of PAHs sources in Tanggu District are extracted, which were coke production, pyrogenic sources and vehicular source.

Identification of a high frequency of chromosomal rearrangements in the centromeric regions of prostate cancer patients

The aim of the present investigation was to study the major chromosomal aberrations (CA) like deletion, translocation, inversion and mosaic in prostate cancer patients of Tamilnadu, southern India. Totally 45 blood samples were collected from various hospitals in Tamilnadu, southern India. Equal numbers of normal healthy subjects were chosen after signing a consent form. Volunteers provided blood samples (5 ml) to establish leukocyte cultures. Cytogenetic studies were performed by using Giemsa-banding technique and finally the results were ensured by spectral karyotyping (sKY) technique. In the present investi-gation, major CA like deletion, translocation, inversion and mosaic were identified in experimental subjects. Results showed frequent CA in chromosomes 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 13, 16, 18 and X. In comparison with experimental subjects, the control subjects exhibited very low levels of major CA (Psent study, the high frequency of centromeric rearrangements indicates a potential role for mitotic irregularities associated with the centromere in prostate cancer tumorigenesis. Identification of chro-mosome alterations may be helpful in understanding the molecular basis of the disease in better manner.

Greenhouse Gas Emission from Inland Open Water Bodies and Their Estimation Process—An Emerging Issue in the Era of Climate Change

The persistent rise in concentrations of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in the earth’s atmosphere is responsible for global warming and climate change. Besides the known source of GHGs emissions like energy, industry, and agriculture, intrinsic emissions from natural inland water bodies like wetland, rivers, reservoirs, estuaries, etc. have also been identified as other hotspots of GHGs emission and gaining the attention of the scientific communities in recent times. Inland fisheries in India are threatened by climate changes such as a change in temperature, precipitation, droughts, storm, sea-level rise, saltwater intrusion, floods that affect mostly the production, productivity and ultimately affect the fishers’ livelihood. There are, however, different mitigation and adaptation strategies to cope with the effects of climate change. Carbon sequestration and other related management interventions are one of the options available minimizing GHGs emissions from inland open waters, particularly the wetlands and coastal mangroves which are well known worldwide for their significant role in the storage of carbon. Assessment of C efflux from exposed sediments in dry streams, reservoirs, lakes, rivers, and ponds into the atmosphere can be considered imperative for a better understanding of their role as a C-sink or as a C-source to the atmosphere.

为了评价印度东部曼尼普尔亚热带橡树混交林中的土壤养分收支平衡情况,研究了全年不同月份的3个主要树种,枹栎(Quercus serrata)、木荷(schima wallichi)和滇石栎(Lithocarpus dealbata)的枯落物分解和营养回归情况。印度东部橡树林是生产柞蚕丝的重要经济树种。林下2-7月月枯落物为25.6 g·m-2(7月)和198.0 g·m-2(2月),年枯落物为1093 8g·m-2。在初始月(11月3),滇石栎森林壤土的氮和碳浓度最高,其次是在枹栎林。最低的是木荷林。但就木质素和纤维素含而言,木荷林中的最高,其次是袍栎林和滇石栎林。滇石栎林(k=0.54)具有较高的枯落物分解率,这与月初枯落物中含有较高的氮和碳浓度以及低含量的纤维素相符合。然而,在木荷森林中枯落物分解率低,是与月初时森林土中具有低浓度氮和碳及高浓度木质素和纤维素相符合。在不同月份,剩余的生物量与木质素、碳、碳氮比和纤维素含量呈正相关,但与氮含量呈负相关。由于环境条件的影响,在寒冷和冬季枯落物分解率最低,而在雨季枯落物分解率最高。图3表5参52。
