Efficacy of Shanvac-B recombinant DNA hepatitis B vaccine in health care workers of Northern India

BAcKGROUND: Health care workers (HcWs) constitute a high-risk population of HBV infection. There are limited data on the efficacy of vaccination in HcWs in India. This study was to evaluate the efficacy of indigenous recombinant hepatitis B vaccine, Shanvac-B, in HcWs. METHODS: In 597 HcWs screened before the vaccination, 216 (36.2%) showed the presence of at least one of the markers of HBV/HcV infection. Of the remaining 381 (63.8%) HcWs who were considered for vaccination, only 153 (age 18-45 years; 48 males and 105 females) were available for final assessment. These HcWs received 20 μg of vaccine at 0, 1 and 6 months. They were asked for the reactogenicity and monitored for the seroprotective efficacy of the vaccination. Anti-HBs titres were measured after vaccination at 1, 2 and 7 months. The presence of anti-HBs titers equal to 1 MIU/ml was considered as seroconversion and that of titres greater than 10 MIU/ml as seroprotection. RESULTS: After vaccination, 32 males (67%) and 76 females (72%) showed seroconvertion; finally 12 (25%) of the males and 47 (45%) of the females were seroprotected. Seroprotection at 2 and 7 months was more dominant in the females than in the males (96% vs. 56%, P=0.001, 100% vs. 85%, P=0.0001), respectively. Geometric mean titres of anti-HBs after vaccination were also higher in the females than in the males (257±19.7 vs. 29±1.88 MIU/ml, P=0.01, 1802±35.2 vs. 306±13.6 MIU/ml, P≤0.05, 6465±72 vs. 2142±73.6 MIU/ml, PcWs showed unsatisfactory response, non-response (n=3, 6%) and hypo-response (≤10 MIU/ml, n=4, 8%) at the end of vaccination. Smoking and alcoholism were significantly correlated with unsatisfactory response. Spatio-temporal variability in microfossil and geochemical records of cenomanian-Turonian oceanic anoxic event-2: a review

The cenomanian-Turonian boundary oceanic anoxic event(OAE-2; Bonarelli event; ～94 Ma) is associated with a species turnover in the marine calcareous microfossil record, widespread marine anoxia,black shale deposition and positive δ13c excursions. This study reviews 141 cTBE sites globally, aiming to understand micropaleontological, geochemical, and sedimentological expressions of OAE-2. There is a clear palaeogeographic and palaeobathymetric heterogeneity in the development of OAE-2 marine anoxia. A majority of the documented OAE-2 sites are from deep marine environments. The calcareous nannoplankton and benthic foraminifera record a diversity decline, while planktic foraminifera shows community level shifts and no major mass extinction. The variability of total organic carbon in OAE-2 sediments across sites(10 wt.%) and the δ13c profiles(diachronous) have been attributed to different mechanisms of anoxia *** increased primary “productivity model” gains support from productivity proxies(e.g., Ba, P, cu, Ni),redox-sensitive elements(e.g., Mn, Mo, U, V, As), and eutrophic genera(e.g., benthic foraminifera Gabonita spp., calcareous nannofossils Biscutum spp. and Zeugrhabdotus erectus). The enhanced organic carbon“preservation model” in stratified(semi) restricted basins gains support from sites with lower enrichment of redox-sensitive elements and oligotrophic flora and fauna in the OAE-2 records. Geochronology of the caribbean and the High Atlantic Large Igneous Province events(cLIP and HALIP) mark them as likely triggers of the OAE-2 related global perturbation of marine biogeochemistry. Volcanic triggers may have caused climate warming, altered hydrological cycles, enhanced continental weathering, shifts in ocean circulation, and nutrient flows. Addressing knowledge gaps, further research is urged, utilizing innovative proxies, and exploring underrepresented depositional systems to comprehensively understand OAE-2 onset and biotic crisis.

Improving Heat Transfer in Parabolic Trough Solar collectors by Magnetic Nanofluids

A parabolic trough solar collector(PTSc)converts solar radiation into thermal ***,low thermal efficiency of PTSc poses a hindrance to the deployment of solar thermal power *** performance of PTSc is enhanced in this study by incorporating magnetic nanoparticles into the working *** circular receiver pipe,with dimensions of 66 mm diameter,2 mm thickness,and 24 m length,is exposed to uniform temperature and velocity *** working fluid,Therminol-66,is supplemented with Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles at concentrations ranging from 1%to 4%.The findings demonstrate that the inclusion of nanoparticles increases the convective heat transfer coefficient(HTc)of the PTSc,with higher nanoparticle volume fractions leading to greater heat transfer but increased pressure *** thermal enhancement factor(TEF)of the PTSc is positively affected by the volume fraction of nanoparticles,both with and without a magnetic ***,the scenario with a 4%nanoparticle volume fraction and a magnetic field strength of 250 G exhibits the highest TEF,indicating superior thermal *** findings offer potential avenues for improving the efficiency of PTScs in solar thermal plants by introducing magnetic nanoparticles into the working fluid.

1 INTRODUcTION,This is the third Editorial/commentary that one of us(***)has written relating to boron neutron capture therapy(BNcT)[1,2].For those readers who are unfamiliar with BNcT we would refer them to several recent comprehensive reviews[3–5].The second Editorial ended on a hopeful note that with the introduction of acceleratorbased neutron sources(ABNSs),BNcT would enter into the mainstream of radiation therapy[2].

A Study on Outlier Detection and Feature Engineering Strategies in Machine Learning for Heart Disease Prediction

This paper investigates the application ofmachine learning to develop a response model to cardiovascular problems and the use of AdaBoost which incorporates an application of Outlier Detection methodologies namely;Z-Score incorporated with GreyWolf Optimization(GWO)as well as Interquartile Range(IQR)coupled with Ant colony Optimization(AcO).Using a performance index,it is shown that when compared with the Z-Score and GWO with AdaBoost,the IQR and AcO,with AdaBoost are not very accurate(89.0%vs.86.0%)and less discriminative(Area Under the curve(AUc)score of 93.0%vs.91.0%).The Z-Score and GWO methods also outperformed the others in terms of precision,scoring 89.0%;and the recall was also found to be satisfactory,scoring 90.0%.Thus,the paper helps to reveal various specific benefits and drawbacks associated with different outlier detection and feature selection techniques,which can be important to consider in further improving various aspects of diagnostics in cardiovascular ***,these findings can enhance the knowledge of heart disease prediction and patient treatment using enhanced and innovativemachine learning(ML)*** findings when combined improve patient therapy knowledge and cardiac disease prediction through the use of cutting-edge and improved machine learning *** work lays the groundwork for more precise diagnosis models by highlighting the benefits of combining multiple optimization *** studies should focus on maximizing patient outcomes and model efficacy through research on these combinations.

Graphene derivatives as efficient hole transport materials for lead-free double perovskite(csSnI) solar cells: a numerical study

The double perovskite cs2SnI6has notable optical and electrical characteristics， rendering it a highly prospective candidate for deployment as the absorber layer in perovskite solar cells (PScs). We simulated the performance of PScs using lead-free cs2SnI6double perovskite absorber layer and graphene derivatives， namely graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO)， as hole transport layers (HTLs). Our findings show that rGO offers an excellent hole extraction property with minimal interfacial recombination compared to GO. PSc utilizing rGO as the HTL material achieved a power conversion efficiency of 19.07%， while those employing GO HTL attained only 16.9%. The superior performance of rGO is attributed to its greater charge carrier mobility of rGO and its favorable energy level alignment with the double perovskite absorber layer. In contrast， the mismatch in the charge transport properties between the absorber layer and the GO HTL resulted in poor performance. Our study showcases the potential of using graphene derivative-based HTLs for realizing lead-free PScs.
