Since the discovery of hybridoma cells by Kohler and Milstein, the uses of monoclonal antibody (mAb), the protein produced by such cells are in vogue. Such antibodies with single isotype have higher specificity, and the serological tests employed in show higher reproducibility compared to those with use of polyclonal antisera. There are several procedures of mAb production which vary considerably but the principle remains the same which states that antigens introduced into animals generally result in the stimulation of lymphocytes, some of which produce antibody of only one type, although the isotype may change. The developments in the field of cell culture and transfection technology have lead to the production of improved qualities of mAbs. In general, monoclonal antibodies are important reagents used in biomedical research, such as, in the field of diagnostics and therapeutics as well as targeted drug delivery systems. They have got importance not only for infectious diseases caused by microbes and parasites, but also for cancer, metabolic and hormonal disorders, in the diagnosis of lymphoid and myeloid malignancies and tissue typing, enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) (especially blocking ELISA), radio immunoassay (RIA), serotyping of pathogens and their immunological intervention with passive antibody, anti-idiotype inhibition or magic bullet therapy with cytotoxic agents coupled with antimouse specific antibody. The application of mAbs in diagnosis of various livestock diseases is an important area of concern as these diseases are a major and increasingly important factor reducing livestock productivity in various parts of the world. We propose a multi-objective Pareto-optimal technique using Genetic Algorithm (GA) for group communication, which determines a min-cost multicast tree satisfying end-to-end delay, jitter, packet loss rate and blocking probability constraints. The model incorporates a fuzzy-based selection technique for initialization of QoS parameter values at each instance of multicasting. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm satisfies on-demand QoS requirements (like high availability, good load balancing and fault-tolerance) made by the hosts in varying topology and bursty data traffic in multimedia communication networks.

Preparation and Characterization of Aluminium Wire Mat Reinforced Polyester Composite

Viscosity is a key component in the analysis of many chemical and biological substances. It is also essential for all plants that manufacture or process liquid matter to understand and control viscosity properly. A novel microfluidic viscometer with unprecedented dynamic range and small sample requirement is presented. RheoS ense viscometers use patented VROC(Viscometer/Rheometer On-a-Chip) microfluidic sensor technology to measure viscosity from the pressure drop of a test liquid as it flows through a rectangular slit1. The novel VROC technology invented at RheoS ense requires less than 20 μL of sample to conduct one measurement and has proven itself a versatile and robust platform for many industrial applications, including rechargeable batteries, proteins, small molecule drugs, high molecular weight polymers, inks, and lubricants. With its small footprint and sample volume requirement, VROC instruments are also indispensable tools for researchers who wish to study the rheological properties of biological and other clinical samples outside a laboratory environment. The flow channel design provides significant advantages in attaining accurate viscosity measurements of small sample volumes at extremely high shear rates;these properties allow it to accurately mimic lubrication, high speed coating, and inkjet printing processes.

Aluminum wire mat reinforced polyester composite has been studied as an al-ternative structural material. The physical and mechanical properties of the composite such as tensile strength, flexural strength, water absorption, hardness illustrated the competency of the developed composite. It was found that per-cent water absorption is very low for the resultant studied composite. However, water absorption increased very slowly when metal mat layers were increased. Furthermore, mechanical strength of the composite was increased as mechanical properties: tensile strength, flexural strength, hardness and stiffness of this composite increased with the increase in the number of metal mat layer in the composite. This study suggested the use of this composite as an unbeaten al-ternative structural material to conventional materials.

Background: Daily activity is a potentially important measure for assessing prognosis in individuals with chronic heart failure (CHF), and few studies have investigated the prognostic value of daily activity measurement. The present study sought to determine whether there is an association between daily activity and mortality/mean life expectancy as predicted by the Seattle Heart Failure Model (SHFM), and to provide an estimate of the anchor-based minimum clinically important difference (MCID) for daily activity measured by single-axis accelerometers in implanted cardiac defibrillators. Methods: This study utilized a retrospective chart review of 102 medical records of patients with CHF and Medtronic? implanted cardiac defibrillators (ICDs). Mean daily activity was calculated for a two week period prior to both a baseline and follow-up routine clinical visit. Clinical characteristics from the baseline clinic visit were used for calculating SHFM estimates of mean life expectancy, 1-year mortality, and 5-year mortality. A five-point global rating scale was scored based on documented clinician impression, patient self-report, and laboratory and cardiographic tests for determining the MCID. Results: There was a moderate correlation between baseline daily activity and each of the SHFM prognostic indicators: 1-year mortality (r = 0.36, p < 0.001, 5-year mortality (r = 0.40, p < 0.001), and life expectancy (r = 0.43, p < 0.001). The MCID for a decline in daily activity was approximately 0.5 hours and was approximately 1.0 hours for improvement in daily activity. Conclusions: Although previous re- search has established the short-term predictive value of ICD-measured daily activity for CHF-related clinical events, no prior study has examined the longer-term prognostic value of ICD-based daily activity. The results of the present study suggest that low daily activity, as recorded by ICDs in patients with CHF, should prompt a more formal evaluation of prognosis using the SHFM

茶是世界上最普及的饮料。茶树由于受到大量病虫危害而需要施用许多农药。鉴于公众对食品安全性关注度的日益提高,本文对红茶中7种农药的残留量及其通过泡茶进入茶汤的残留量进行了研究。红茶中的农药残留量为0.18~1.90 mg/kg,其中只有一部分能进入茶汤而被人体摄入。将茶叶冲泡因素考虑在内,通过饮茶进入人体的农药残留量只有印度人每日允许摄入量的0.1%。这种考虑冲泡因素的综合评估方法将有利于制定切合实际的茶叶中最大农药残留限量标准。

Water electrolysis is considered as the most capable and old technology for hydrogen fuel preparation. Electrolysis needs external electrical energy through electrodes to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. An efficient electrolysis requires suitable electrodes to minimize potential drop. In this study Aluminium and Copper Coated Aluminium were used as different combination of Anodes and Cathodes to find out more efficient electrodes combination. NaCl solution in rain water was taken as electrolyte. Rain water was taken to avoid ionic impedance of tap water and expenses of distilled water. In this study, the most efficient electrode combination was Copper Coated Aluminium (anode)-Aluminium (cathode) and gave the highest efficiency of hydrogen production to about 11% at normal temperature for very low concentration of NaCl (0.051 M) which increased with temperature, up to 29% upon rising of temp to 60°C. It was showed that higher concentration of electrolyte would surge the efficiency significantly. If the supplied heat could be provided from any waste heat sources then this study would be more efficient. Objective:To observe the effectiveness of most widely used antibiotic,oxytetracycline(OTC)in reducing the bacterial load in rohu fish under artificial culture condition in the ***:The experiment was conducted in the Faculty Fisheries,Bangladesh Agricultural University,*** fish were reared in 8 aquaria where fish in 5 aquaria were used for replication of the treatment(experimental group)and fish in remaining 3 aquaria were considered as a control(Control group).OTC was fed to the fish in the experimental aquarium at the rate of 2 g/kg through diet twice daily whereas fish reared under control condition was given feed without antibiotic for 20 d and bacterial content in the aquarium water,gills,skin and intestine of fish were estimated at every alternative day after onset of the ***:Rearing the fish with OTC treated feed resulted in gradual decrease of bacterial load in the aquarium water,gills,intestine and skin of the fish whereas the content remain unchanged Or little increased in the control group.W ater quality parameters such as dissolved oxygen,pH and total hardness were within the suitable range in the experimental aquarium but not in control aquaria throughout the experimental ***:These results suggest that OTC could be a potential antibiotic to reduce the bacterial load in fish and can be used commercially for maintaining the fish health in aquarium conditions.
