Introduction:Regional anaesthesia combined with general anaesthesia reduces stress response to surgery, duration of ventilation, intensive care unit (ICU) stay and promotes early recovery. Studies on thoracic epidural, caudal analgesia along with general anaesthesia (GA) in paediatric cardiac surgery are limited hence we aimed to compare efficacy and safety of caudal, thoracic epidural and intravenous analgesia in paediatric cardiac surgery. Methodology: This study was conducted in the Department of Anaesthesiology in a tertiary care teaching hospital in southern India from February 2019 to December 2019. 90 children were randomised into group A, group B, group C. Children in group A received caudal analgesia along with GA. Group B children received thoracic epidural along with GA. Group C patients received intravenous analgesia along with GA. Rescue analgesia 1 mcg/kg fentanyl given in all 3 groups if pain score is more than 4. Primary outcome assessed was post-op pain scores. Secondary outcome assessed was duration of ventilation, duration of intensive care unit stay. Management of Strawberry Grey Mold Disease Using Biocontrol Agents and Plant Extracts

Strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.) is a significant global soft fruit crop, prized for its nutrient content and pleasant flav.r. Howev.r, diseases, particularly grey mold caused by Botrytis cinerea Pers. Fr. poses major constraints to strawberry production and productiv.ty. Grey mold sev.rely impacts fruit quality and quantity, diminishing market v.lue. This study ev.luated fiv. B. cinerea isolates from v.rious locations in the Ri-Bhoi district of Meghalaya. All isolates were pathogenic, with isolate SGM 2 identified as highly v.rulent. Host range studies showed the pathogen-producing symptoms in the fav. bean pods, marigold, gerbera, and chrysanthemum flowers and in the fav. bean, gerbera, and lettuce leav.s. In v.tro tests rev.aled that neem extract (15% w/v. achiev.d the highest mycelial growth inhibition at 76.66%, while black turmeric extract (5% w/v. had the lowest inhibition at 9.62%. Dual culture methods with bio-control agents indicated that Bacillus subtilis recorded the highest mean inhibition at 77.03%, while Pseudomonas fluorescens had the lowest at 20.36% against the two v.rulent isolates. Pot ev.luations demonstrated that B. subtilis resulted in the lowest percent disease index at 20.59%, followed by neem extract at 23.31%, with the highest disease index in the control group at 42.51%. Additionally, B. subtilis significantly improv.d plant growth, yielding an av.rage of 0.32 kg compared to 0.14 kg in the control. The promising results of B. subtilis and neem leaf extract from this study suggest their potential for eco-friendly managing grey mold in strawberries under field conditions.

A Reliable and Accurate Calculation of Excitation Capacitance v.lue for an Induction Generator Based on Interv.l Computation Technique

A squirrel cage induction generator （SCIG） offers many adv.ntages for wind energy conv.rsion systems but suffers from poor v.ltage regulation under v.rying operating conditions. The v.lue of excitation capacitance （C exct ） is v.ry crucial for the selfexcitation and v.ltage build-up as well as v.ltage regulation in SCIG. Precise calculation of the v.lue of C exct is, therefore, of considerable practical importance. Most of the existing calculation methods make use of the steady-state model of the SCIG in conjunction with some numerical iterativ. method to determine the minimum v.lue of C exct . But this results in ov.r estimation, leading to poor transient dynamics. This paper presents a nov.l method, which can precisely calculate the v.lue of C exct by taking into account the behav.or of the magnetizing inductance during saturation. Interv.l analysis has been used to solv. the equations. In the proposed method, a range of magnetizing inductance v.lues in the saturation region are included in the calculation of C exct , required for the self-excitation of a 3-φ induction generator. Mathematical analysis to deriv. the basic equation and application of interv.l method is presented. The method also yields the magnetizing inductance v.lue in the saturation region which corresponds to an optimum C exct（min） v.lue. The proposed method is experimentally tested for a 1.1 kW induction generator and has shown improv.d results.

N-doped mesoporous alumina for adsorption of carbon dioxide

N-doped mesoporous alumina has been synthesized using chitosan as the biopolymer template. The adsorbent has been thoroughly inv.stigated for the adsorption of CO2 from a simulated flue gas stream （15% CO2 balanced with N2） and compared with commercially av.ilable mesoporous alumina procured from SASOL, Germany. CO2 adsorption was studied under different conditions of pre- treatment and adsorption temperature, inlet CO2 concentration and in the presence of oxygen and moisture. The adsorption capacity was determined to be 29.4 nag CO2/g of adsorbent at 55℃. This v.lue was observ.d to be 4 times higher in comparison to that of commercial mesoporous alumina at a temperature of 55℃. Basicity of alumina surface coupled with the presence of nitrogen in template in synthesized sample is responsible for this enhanced CO2 adsorption. Adsorption capacity for CO2 was retained in the presence of oxygen; howev.r moisture had a deteriorating effect on the adsorption capacity reducing it to nearly half the v.lue.

Phenotypic, Stress Tolerance and Plant Growth Promoting Characteristics of Rhizobial Isolates from Selected Wild Legumes of Semiarid Region, Tirupati, India

Rhizobia are v.tal for nitrogen input, fertility of soil and legume plant growth. Knowledge on rhizobial div.rsity from arid and semiarid areas is important for dry land agriculture in the context of climatic change and for economic utilization. This study prov.des morphological, biochemical, stress tolerance and plant growth promoting characteristics of fifteen rhizobial isolates from the nodules of same number of wild legumes and one isolate from cultiv.ted Arachis hypogea from semi-arid region, Tirupati. The bacterial isolates were confirmed as rhizobia based on colony morphology and biochemical tests. Based on the colour change of YMA-BTB medium, eight isolates were identified as slow growers and six were fast growers. The isolates differed in growth pattern, colony morphology, antibiotic resistance at higher concentrations and uniformity in utilization of carbon and nitrogen sources. The isolates are tolerant to NaCl up to one percent, displayed normal growth at temperatures 28℃ - 30℃, at neutral pH and poor growth at pH 5and 9. The isolates v.ried in the production of EPS and IAA, positiv. for phosphate solubilization and siderophore formation. This functional div.rsity displayed by the isolates can be utilised for the legume crop production by cross inoculation.
