Isolation of Marine Actinomycetes from the Mangrove Swamps for Biotechnological Exploration

The mangroves are specialized marine environments widely distributed along the coast lines, which support biologically diverse groups of organisms including microbes. The microorganisms present in this ecosystem contribute significantly in the food web of the tropical marine ecosystem. In the present investigation, Actinomycete isolates obtained from mangrove sediments have been studied for diversity as well as for their bioactive potential. Seven different Actinomycete isolates （MS 1-MS7） were obtained from the sediments collected from the mangrove swamps. The phylogenetic analysis of these isolates showed that out or seven isolates, 3 isolates belong to Streptomyces sp., which has bioactive potential as several bioactive metabolites have been isolated from this group. One bacterium showed genetic similarity with Corynebacterium sp.. The microbes from this group are used for very important industrial applications. Three Actinomycete isolates showed very low similarity with the reported strains from the gene bank. In suggests that, these cultures could be novel and further research work is warranted to prove this speculation. In antagonistic studies, three Actinomycete isolates showed promising results. This investigation highlights the importance of mangrove ecosystem as a rich source of diverse Actinomycete strains for biotechnological applications.

Digital Portable Weather Station Monitoring System Using Arduino Uno

The temperature,humidity,atmospheric pressure and altitude are the most important parameters of the *** those parameters are known,it will help to select the best crops for specific location which increases the productivity in agricultural *** is very useful for countries like Nepal where the most of people in this country depends on *** this research,an Arduino based device is constructed which measures those parameters and record the data in real *** DHT22 and BMP180 sensors are used for measuring those parameters whereas RTC and SD Card module is used to record the data in real *** can be displayed on LCD and serial monitor of computer or *** data were collected at Tri-Chandra Multiple College,Ghantaghar and at Gaurighat,Chabahil with the help of Arduino based *** this project,the digital portable weather station monitoring system has been designed and data from this device compared with the data obtained from HTC-2 standard device and error analysis has been done.

The main target of the study is to generate artificial earthquake time histories which are compatible with real earthquakes.A simple frequency-domain method for generating time histories from the given response spectrum is presented in this *** average response spectra are generated using three attenuation relationships developed for the subduction zonesuitable for Barpak M7.8 earthquake records at TU,*** ground motions are simulated with consideration of source,site,and *** simulation work is started from noise generation work with windowing,Fast Fourier Transform(FFT)and spectra matching(target and generated)to obtain simulated time history using MATLAB programming *** ground motions can be utilized as input ground motions for the dynamic analysis and design of new structures as well as retrofitting of existing structures.

Percutaneous revascularization in a patient with anomalous origin of left main coronary artery

Anomalous origin of the coronary artery from opposite coronary sinus is infrequently observed during coronary angiography. Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) of anomalous coronary artery is technically difficult and challenging. It requires appropriate selection of guide catheters for adequate stability, coaxial alignment and backup support during the intervention. We hereby report a rare case of anomalous origin of left main coronary artery (LM) from the right coronary sinus, having a retro-aortic course to the left side before its bifurcation into left anterior descending (LAD) and circumflex artery. The 59-year-old man had successful PCI of atherosclerotic LAD lesions. A 64-slice Multi-Detector Computed Tomography (MDCT) performed at 4 years of follow-up demonstrated patency of coronary stents and also delineated the origin and course of the anomalous LM. The case illustrates the rarity of anomalous LM, and describes technical issues during PCI and the role of MDCT in coronary anomaly imaging.

With recent advancement in percutaneous endovascular management,most atherosclerotic peripheral arterial diseases are amenable for ***,there is limited published literature about atherosclerotic axillary artery involvement and its endovascular *** report two cases of atherosclerotic axillary artery stenosis,which were successfully managed with stent angioplasty using self expanding nitinol stents. The associated coronary artery disease was treated by percutaneous angioplasty and *** long term follow-up revealed patent axillary stents in both cases.

Nonselective beta‐blockers reduce mortality in patients with acute‐on‐chronic liver failure

Aim:Nonselective beta‐blockers(NSBBs)can reduce the incidence of complications in patients with cirrhosis and prolong *** safety and efficacy of NSBBs in real‐world settings in patients with acute‐on‐chronic liver failure(ACLF)identified by the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of Liver criteria are *** study aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of NSBBs in patients with Asian Pacific Association for the Study of Liver(APASL)‐defined ACLF Methods:In this retrospective,multicenter study,patients with ACLF with complete 30 days follow‐up from January 2019 to December 2021 were *** primary objective was to compare 30‐day mortality among standard of care(SOC)and NSBB(+SOC)*** secondary objectives were to compare the incidence of infection,variceal bleed,and recompensation among both the ***:A total of 346 patients were *** 26%(n=89)of them received NSBBs,while 74%(n=257)received only *** Kaplan-Meier analysis,the incidence of mortality was 21%(95%confidence interval[CI]:16.20-26.50)in SOC group compared to only 8%(95%CI:3.22-15.53)in NSBB group at Day 30(p=0.005).Similarly,mortality in SOC group was 63%(95%CI:56.81-69.00)compared to 46%(95%CI:35.44-57.00)in NSBB group at 1 year(p=0.001).NSBB therapy could not reduce the incidence of infections or variceal ***‐seven percent of patients in the SOC group and 73%of patients in the NSBB group(p<0.001)*** was prescribed in 77.5%and propranolol in 22.5%of ***:NSBBs reduce mortality without any effect on infection or variceal bleed in patients with ***,only one in four ACLF patients are suitable for NSBB therapy.

Objective:Urinary tract infection(UTI)is a common cause of morbidity and hospitalisation in the population *** UTI is indolent and causes subclinical acute kidney injury(AKI)resulting in preventable cause of scarring of renal *** explored urinary and serum levels of kidney injury molecule-1(KIM-1),haematological parameters and quantitative urine microscopy parameters to predict kidney ***:Neutrophilelymphocyte ratio(NLR)is obtained by dividing absolute neutrophil count with absolute lymphocyte *** urine sediment microscopy was performed and correlated with clinical,biochemical and haematological findings to predict AKI in patients with *** ELISA was performed for serum and urine levels of *** two adult patients with UTI were enrolled,45 of whom had AKI while 27 were in the non-AKI ***:NLR(p=0.005)and renal tubular epithelial cell-granular cast score in quantitative urine microscopy(p=0.008)are strong predictors of AKI in patients with UTI while rest of quantitative urine microscopy parameters and serum and urinary levels of KIM-1 molecule were not found to be useful in prediction of ***:NLR in haemogram is a novel and useful biomarker for predicting AKI in patients with UTI.

Severe mitral annular calcifi cation in rheumatic heart disease:A rare presentation

Severe mitral annular calcification(MAC)is frequently seen in patients with advanced age and chronic kidney disease,but it is rare in rheumatic heart disease(RHD).We hereby report a case of 45-year-old female with chronic RHD,who had severe MAC and mitral *** revealed a "crown"-like severe calcification of the mitral *** of the heart revealed a calcified posterior mitral annulus,fused commissures,and calcified nodules at the atrial aspect of the mitral valve.
