Optimization Study of a Coanda Ejector

The Coanda effect has long been employed in the aerospace applications to improve the performances of various devices. This effect is the ability of a flow to follow a curved contour without separation and has well been utilized in ejectors where a high speed jet of fluid emerges from a nozzle in the ejector body, follows a curved surface and drags the secondary flow into the ejector. In Coanda ejectors, the secondary flow is dragged in the ejector due to the primary flow momentum. The transfer of momentum from the primary flow to the secondary flow takes place through turbulent mixing and viscous effects. The secondary flow is then dragged by turbulent shear force of the ejector while being mixed with the primary flow by the persistence of a large turbulent intensity throughout the ejector. The performance of a Coanda ejector is studied mainly based on how well it drags the secondary flow and the amount of mixing between the two flows at the ejector exit. The aim of the present study is to investigate the influence of various geometric parameters and pressure ratios on the Coanda ejector performance. The effect of various factors, such as, the pressure ratio, primary nozzle and ejector configurations on the system performance has been evaluated based on a performance parameter defined elsewhere. The performance of the Coanda ejector strongly depends on the primary nozzle configuration and the pressure ratio. The mixing layer growth plays a major role in optimizing the performance of the Coanda ejector as it decides the ratio of secondary mass flow rate to primary mass flow rate and the mixing length.

Severe blood loss due to traumatic injuries remains one of the leading causes of death in emergency *** continues to be the candidate material for hemostatic applications due to its inherent hemostatic ***,available chitosan-based dressings have been reported to have an acidic odor at the wound site due to the incorporation of acid based solvents for their fabrication and deformation under compression owing to low mechanical strength limiting its *** the present study semi-IPN cryogel was fabricated via Schiff's base cross-linking between the polyaldehyde groups of oxidized dextran and thiolated chitosan in presence of locust bean gum(LBG)known for its *** at12C yielded macroporous semi-IPN cryogels with an average pore size of 124.57±20.31 mm and 85.46%*** hydrophobicity index of LBG reinforced semi-IPN cryogel was reduced 2.42 times whereas the swelling ratio was increased by 156.08%compare to control *** increased hydrophilicity and swelling ratio inflated the compressive modulus from 28.1 kPa to 33.85 for LBG reinforced semi-IPN *** structural stability and constant degradation medium pH were also recorded over a period of 12 *** cryogels demonstrated lower adsorption affinity towards *** cytotoxicity assays(direct,indirect)with 3T3-L1 fibroblast cells confirmed the cytocompatibility of the *** hemolysis assay showed<5%hemolysis confirming blood compatibility of the fabricated cryogel,while whole blood clotting and platelet adhesion assays confirmed the hemostatic potential of semi-IPN cryogel.

Eu3＋ doped strontium-aluminium-bismuth-borate glasses with the chemical composition（50–x）B2O3＋20Bi2O3＋7Al F3＋ 8Sr O＋15Sr F2＋x Eu2O3（where x=0.1 mol.%, 0.5 mol.%, 1.0 mol.% and 1.5 mol.%） were prepared by the conventional melt quenching *** properties of the prepared glasses were analysed through X-ray diffraction（XRD）, scanning electron microscopy（SEM）, energy dispersive spectroscopy（EDS） and Raman spectral *** stability of glass was analysed by differential thermal analysis（DTA） *** characteristics were studied using excitation, emission spectra and decay curves of Eu3＋ doped strontium-aluminium-bismuth-borate *** Judd-Ofelt（J-O） intensity parameters, Ωλ（λ=2, 4 and 6） were obtained using emission spectra and was used to identify the nature of Eu3＋ ions with their surrounding *** J-O parameters the transition probabilities（A）, stimulated emission cross-sections σE p, branching ratios（βR） and radiative lifetimes（τmeas and τcal） were evaluated for the 5D0→7F J（J=0, 1, 2, 3 and 4） transition of Eu3＋ ions in the present *** decay profiles were found to be non exponential for all the concentrations and the measured lifetimes（τmeas） were obtained from the decay *** higher values of A, σE p, βR and quantum efficiency（η） for 5D0→7F2 emission transition at 617 nm confirmed the present glass was as active medium for red laser emission applications.

Objective:To investigate the naturally occurring antioxidant for the first time from the different solvent fractions of Hybanthus enneaspermus（***） Linn ***（Violaceae）. Methods:Different fractions of *** were tested for total phenolic content,and in vitro antioxidant activity was measured by total antioxidant assay,DPPH assay,reducing power, nitric oxide（NO）,hydrogen peroxide（H2O2） scavenging ***:The ethyl acetate（EA） fraction was found to have high levels of phenolic content[（212.15±0.79） mg GAE/g].The EA fraction exhibited higher total antioxidant capacity,higher percentage of DPPH radical scavenging activity[（127.07±2.29） Fg/mL],nitric oxide[（245.16±1.44）μg/mLJ,hydrogen peroxide[（227.38±7.18）μg/mL],deoxyribose[（270.61±8.72）μg/mL]and higher reducing *** was a significant correlation between total phenolic content and total antioxidant activity（r =0.972）. Conclusions:These results reveal that EA fraction of *** has strong antioxidant potential compared with other *** further study has been extended to the isolation of the possible compound that is responsible for having antioxidant property.

We present results of the Mt Abu JHK photometric and HI Brackett γ line monitoring of the eruptive young stellar object V1647 Orionis （McNeil＇s Object） during its ongoing outburst phase in 2008-2012. We discuss JHK color patterns and extinction during the outburst and compare them with those from the previous out- burst phase in 2004-2005 and in the intervening quiescent period that lasted about 2 yr. Commencing from early 2012, the object has shown a slow fading out in all the bands. We report brightness variations in the nearby Herbig-Haro object HH22 that are possibly associated with those in V1647 Ori. We also present modeling of the spec- tral energy distributions of V 1647 Ori during both its recent outburst and its quiescent phase. The physical parameters of the protostar and its circumstellar environment ob- tained from the modeling indicate marked differences between the two phases.

We have studied the single-neutron stripping reaction induced by ^23O on carbon target at beam energy of 72 MeV//A with a motive to analyze its ground state structure. The partial stripping cross sections as well as longitudinal momentum distribution of ^22O core have been calculated within the framework of the eikonal approximation approach. Several core-neutron spin coupling configurations, corresponding to J^π= 1/2 ＋ as ground state spin parity of ^23O, along with their suitable admixtures have been considered. The major outcome of the present work is that the s and d admixed configuration with a large contribution of s state seems to explain the longitudinal momentum distribution data more satisfactorily.
