Profiles of HIV-infected anti-retroviral therapy naïve children from Mumbai,India

Background:This study aimed to investigate the demographic profiles of human immunodifficiency virus(HIV)infected anti-retroviral therapy(ART)naïve children in our hospital and their relations to the clinical,immunological and nutritional ***:A cross-sectional study was conducted in an Integrated Counselling and Testing Center(ICTC)at a tertiary care hospital in *** naïve HIV positive children were enrolled in the *** demographic profiles,clinical features,immunological(CD4%/CD4 count)and nutritional status of these children were *** agreement between clinical,immunological and nutritional staging was determined using Cohen’s kappa ***:In 192 HIV-infected ART naive children enrolled with a median age of 9 years(range 3 months-14 years),97.4%acquired infection through vertical *** most common clinical presentation was fever(39.6%),followed by generalized lymphadenopathy(32.3%),cough(22.4%)and diarrhoea(9.9%).Tuberculosis was seen in 22.9%of the *** agreement was fair between clinical and immunological staging,and slight between nutritional,immunological and clinical ***:Perinatal transmission is the most common mode of acquiring HIV infection in *** Prevention of Parent to Child Transmission(PPTCT)program should be strengthened for lowering the transmission rate by providing extended ART to mothers during pregnancy and *** remains a major concern in HIV-infected *** poor correlation between WHO clinical and immunological staging emphasizes the importance of making CD4 facilities available in HIV prevalent *** cannot be used as a surrogate marker for predicting stage or severity as it is common at all stages of HIV disease.

Clay Modification by the Use of Organic Cations

To render layered silicates miscible with polymer matrices, one must convert the normally hydrophilic silicate surface to an organophilic one, making the intercalation of polymeric chain between silicate layers possible. This can be done by ion-exchange reactions with cationic surfactants. Sodium montmorillonite (Na-MMT) was modified with several organic cationic surfactants. Organoclays with water soluble surfactants were prepared by the traditional cation exchange reaction. An alternative procedure was used to prepare organoclays with water insoluble salts. The basal spacing and thermal behavior of organoclays were characterized by X-ray diffraction, XRD and Thermogravimetric analysis, TGA respectively.

Microstructural, wettability, and corrosion behaviour of TiO_(2) thin film sputtered on aluminium

The study investigated the application of radiofrequency(RF)-sputtered TiO2 coatings at various temperatures to enhance the hydrophobicity and corrosion resistance of Al6061 *** research aimed to establish a correlation between the coating process and the resulting surface *** roughness and wettability were quantified with a surface profilometer and ***,chemical boiling and salt spray corrosion tests were conducted to evaluate any topographical changes during these *** analysis further involved the use of field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),energy-dispersive spectroscopy(EDS),and X-ray diffraction(XRD)techniques to characterize the deposited *** findings indicated that the TiO2 coating applied at 500℃exhibited the highest water contact angle and superior corrosion resistance compared to other *** characterization confirmed that this specific TiO_(2) coating at 500℃ effectively delays corrosion due to its hydrophobic behavior,making it durable for industrial applications.

Surface Modification Aspects for Improving Biomedical Properties in Implants:A Review

The primary focus during surgery is to ensure successful implantation by achieving long-term and stable fixation of *** surgery is now more focused on the development of novel biomaterials intended to improve implant *** obtain a better understanding of metal implants,this article investigated the causes of material failures in certain cases and analysed a few case *** interaction between the implant and bone tissue was a crucial aspect of successful implantation,and this study explored the factors influencing this interaction as well as ways to improve *** modern approaches used for modifying implant surfaces were systematically illustrated and briefly *** spray coatings were often favoured because of their wide range of coating materials,but other substantial surface modifications(such as friction stir processing and laser surface texturing)were also used for a selection of ***,implant surfaces with desirable features,such as biocompatibility,antibacterial properties,corrosion resistance,and wear resistance,were essential for optimising implant *** systematic review's main aim is to provide exhaustive reference information and a broad overview to advance the production and design of orthopaedic implants.

Predictive active control of building structures using LQR and artificial intelligence

This study presents a neural network-based model for predicting linear quadratic regulator(LQR)weighting matrices for achieving a target response *** on the expected weighting matrices,the LQR algorithm is used to determine the various responses of the *** responses are determined by numerically analyzing the governing equation of motion using the state-space *** training a neural network,four input parameters are considered:the time history of the ground motion,the percentage reduction in lateral displacement,lateral velocity,and lateral acceleration,Output parameters are LQR weighting *** study the effectiveness of an LQR-based neural network(LQRNN),the actual percentage reduction in the responses obtained from using LQRNN is compared with the target percentage ***,to investigate the efficacy of an active control system using LQRNN,the controlled responses of a system are compared to the corresponding uncontrolled *** trained neural network effectively predicts weighting parameters that can provide a percentage reduction in displacement,velocity,and acceleration close to the target percentage *** on the simulation study,it can be concluded that significant response reductions are observed in the active-controlled system using ***,the LQRNN algorithm can replace conventional LQR control with the use of an active control system.

CuO–TiO_(2) based self-powered broad band photodetector

An efficient room-temperature self-powered,broadband(300 nm–1100 nm)photodetector based on a CuO–TiO_(2)/TiO_(2)/p-Si(100)heterostructure is *** CuO–TiO_(2)nanocomposites were grown in a two-zone horizontal tube furnace on a 40 nm TiO_(2)thin film deposited on a p-type Si(100)*** CuO–TiO_(2)/TiO_(2)/p-Si(100)devices exhibited excellent rectification characteristics under dark and individual photoillumination *** devices showed remarkable photo-response under broadband(300–1100 nm)light illumination at zero bias voltage,indicating the achievement of highly sensitive self-powered photodetectors at visible and near-infrared light *** maximum response of the devices is observed at 300 nm for an illumination power of 10 *** response and recovery times were calculated as 86 ms and 78 ms,***,under a small bias,the devices showed a prompt binary response by altering the current from positive to negative under illumination *** main reason behind this binary response is the low turn-on voltage and photovoltaic characteristics of the *** illumination conditions,the generation of photocurrent is due to the separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs within the built-in electric field at the CuO–TiO_(2)/TiO_(2)*** characteristics make the CuO–TiO_(2)/TiO_(2)broadband photodetectors suitable for applications that require high response speeds and self-sufficient functionality.

Poplar Plantation as an Agroforestry Approach:Economic Benefits and Its Role in Carbon Sequestration in North India

Poplar has gained popularity among farmers of Punjab,Haryana,Western Uttar Pradesh,and the foothills of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh due to their fast growth rate and suitability for industrial uses such as pulp and timber *** poplar trees into agroforestry systems optimizes land resources and economic gains,as successful techniques have been developed to coordinate crop timing and arrangements *** poplar trees with agricultural crops provides additional income streams for farmers and contributes to soil conservation,biodiversity enhancement,and other environmental *** in these regions typically employ effective spacing of 5 m×4 m for block plantation and 1 m×3 m for row *** the present study,a systematic literature review encompassing 137 English-language journal articles was conducted to assess the economic benefits of Poplar using discounted cash flow(DCF)analysis,considering short-rotation poplar(SRC)and very short-rotation poplar(vSRC)plantations alongside annual *** findings revealed that increasing canopy density led to a decline in crop yields by 37%,70%,and 99% at canopy densities of 30%,60%,and 90%,respectively,from early spring to ***-benefit analysis in Saharanpur district,India,indicated average annual net returns of USD 346.36 for Poplar-based agrisilviculture,while monoculture yielded USD 140.73 per ***,economic analysis in Yamunanagar and Haridwar districts showed benefit-cost ratios ranging from 2.35 to ***,Poplar block and boundary plantations were found to sequester significantly more carbon in long-lived biomass,serving as substitutes for fossil fuels(5.45 and 1.84 t ha-1 yr-1)in poplar-based systems with block and boundary *** study suggested expanding spacing between tree rows may mitigate resource competition between plantations and *** study inferred that Poplar-based agroforestry may play a crucial role in climate mit
