Backgroun.: EUS is an.importan. modality for the diagn.sis of pan.reatic disea se. The primary aim of this study was to determin. age-related pan.reatic paren.hymal an. ductular cha n.es iden.ifiable on.EUS in.in.ividuals with n. history or symptoms of pan.reati cobiliary disease. Methods: Patien.s referred for either upper en.oscopy or EUS for an.in.ication.un.elated to pan.reaticobiliary disease were prospectively en.olled. Patien.s were stratified by age (60 years). Each patien. was ass essed for the presen.e of EUS fin.in.s for chron.c pan.reatitis. Logistic regres sion.was used to iden.ify factors associated with an.abn.rmality. Results: A tot al of 120 patien.s(63 men. 57 women. median.age, 52 years, in.erquartile ran.e[I QR] 40-61 yea- rs) were prospectively evaluated. At least on. paren.hymal an./or ductular abn.ormality was iden.ified in.28%of the patien.s, with a tren. of in.reasin. abn.r mality with age:n. >60 years (39%);p = 0.13. n. patien. had more than.3 abn.rmal EUS *** stran.in. (n.= 22) was the most common.fin.in. in.all age groups. The odds for an. abn.rma lity in.men.(relative to women. was sign.fican.ly higher (OR 2.9: 95%CI[1.2, 6. 8],p = 0.01), with 38%of men.an. 18%of women.havin. an.abn.rmality. Smokin., l ow alcohol in.ake, body mass in.ex,an. en.oscopic fin.in. were n.t sign.fican.ly associated with an.abn.rmal EUS.
