One-year outcomes of a Neo Hexa sirolimus-eluting coronary stent system with a biodegradable polymer in all-comers coronary artery disease patients: Results from Neo Registry in India

Dielectric and Thermal Studies of Copper Doped Magnesium Hydrogen Maleate Hexahydrate Single Crystals

The dielectric and thermal analysis of copper doped Magnesium Hydrogen Maleate Hexahydrate single crystals are studied for the first time. The dielectric constant, loss tangent, a.c. conductivity and a.c. activation energy were measured with variation of frequency in the range 50 Hz to 1 MHz. Dielectric studies reveal that the present crystal under investigation show good optical quality. The melting point and final compound after decomposition were determined using the DTA/TG analysis.

Change in management of predicted difficult airways following introduction of video laryngoscopes

AIM To determine if video laryngoscopy(VL) has significantly impacted management of difficult airways by decreasing the rate of awake fiberoptic intubation(FOI). METHODS Anesthetic records of 3723 patients who underwent general anesthesia at Rush University Medical Center were reviewed over a 2-mo period prior to the introduction of VLs in 2009("pre-VL" group) and over the same 2-mo period after the introduction of VLs in 2012("postVL" group). Patient records with predicted difficult air-ways based on pre-operative airway examination were analyzed. The primary outcome was rate of awake *** To control for possible factors that may influence the FOI rate, a logistic regression was performed with these factors included as covariates. The rate of awake FOI was 13.1% in pre-VL group compared to 9.0% in post-VL group. Although this decrease was not statistically significant individually(P = 0.1768), it showed a trend toward significance when covariates were accounted for(P = 0.0910). Several factors predicting a higherlikelihood of awake FOI were found to be statistically significant: Morbid obesity(larger BMI P = 0.0154, OR = 1.5 per 10 point BMI increase), male gender(P = 0.0026, OR = 3.0) and a higher el-Ganzouri airway score(P = 0.0007, OR = 1.5). Although VLs were seen to be used to intubate 51% of predicted difficult airways, the rate of awake FOI has not significantly *** Although VL may continue to grow in popularity, the most difficult airways are still managed using awake FOI.

Global climate change has become a critical barrier in the twenty-first century and it alarms the marine fishermen to respond and react until conditions become more *** with climate by humans occurs at all levels,but recent research has focused on industries,technological and demographic *** far,less attention has been paid to investigate the factors which affect perception and decision-making at the individual *** uncertain condition of climate on marine fisheries from the last two decades had created drastic change in ecosystems as well as in the fishers’*** are the group who first experiences the bitter conditions of climate change on marine fisheries because their livelihood depends highly on the marine ***,the fishers’perception about the consequences of climate change on fisheries may help to emerge the fisheries by implicating certain productive management *** research has been carried out in the two southern coastal districts of Ramanathapuram and Kanyakumari,Tamil Nadu state to find out the fishers’perception of the consequences of climate change on fisheries.A sample size consisting of 120 marine fishermen were randomly selected and *** results inferred that increase in cost of fishing,increase in fishing investments,decline in fishing days,reduction in fish diversity and fish catches were the major consequences faced by fishers due to the climate change.

Large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the ampulla of Vater

BACKGROUND: Neuroendocrine tumors of the ampulla of Vater are extremely rare, and few cases of large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) of the ampulla have been reported. METHODS: A 48-year-old male with obstructive jaundice was admitted to our hospital. On examination the patient was found to have a periampullary growth and subsequently underwent the Whipple's procedure. RESULTS: Histopathological examination and immunohistochemistry revealed features of LCNEC of the ampulla of Vater. The patient developed multiple liver metastases 6 months after Whipple's procedure. CONCLUSION: LCNEC of the ampulla of Vater is rare and highly aggressive, with a dismal prognosis.

Despite the intense effort expended towards obtaining a model for describing the turbulent flows of fluid, there is no model at hand that can do an adequate job. This leads us to look for a non-traditional approach to turbulence modeling. In this work we conjoin the notion of large eddy simulation with those of fuzzy sets and neural networks to describe a class of turbulent flows. In previous works we had discussed several issues concerning large eddy simulation such as filtering and averaging. Here, we discuss the use of fuzzy sets to improve the filtering procedure.
