A facile preparation of 3D flower-shaped Ni/Al-LDhs covered by β-Ni(Oh)2 nanoplates as superior material for high power application

In the present study,we propose a novel electrode material ofβ-nickel hydroxide covering nickel/aluminum layered double hydroxides via a facile complexation–precipitation *** as-obtained materials with 3-dimensional nanostructures are further utilized as highly capable electrode material in nickel–metal hydride *** electrochemical test results demonstrated theβ-nickel hydroxide covering nickel/aluminum-layered double hydroxides with 28%ofβ-nickel hydroxide provided a superior specific capacity value of 452 m A·h·g-1 in a current density of 5 A·g-1 using 6 M KOh as electrolyte as compared with other *** addition,the optimized sample displays an outstanding cyclic stability along with a huge specific capacity value of320 m Ah·g-1,and very small decay rate of 3.3%at 50 A·g-1 after 3000 cycles of charge/discharge *** indicate that the newly designed material with nanostructures not only provides an efficient contact interface between electrolyte and active species and facilitates the transport of electrons and ions,but also protects the 3-dimensional nickel/aluminum layered double hydroxides,achieving a high specific capacity,fast redox reaction and excellent long-term cyclic ***,theβ-nickel hydroxide covering nickel/aluminum layered double hydroxides with superior electrochemical performance is predictable to be a gifted electrode material in nickel–metal hydride batteries.

Significance of compaction time delay on compaction and strength characteristics of sulfate resistant cement-treated expansive soil

The addition of cement for stabilization of expansive soils is one of the most commonly used *** with every calcium-based stabilizer,the time delay between the physical mixing of the stabilizer and compaction plays an important role in achieving the desired results after ***,a clear insight on the determination of optimum time delay for achieving the maximum desired compaction properties of cement-stabilized soils is yet to be ***,the recent studies highlighted the use of sulfate to mitigate the negative effect of compaction time *** only drawback with the use of sulfate along with calcium-based stabilizers is the formation of ettringite,which deteriorates the stabilized soil *** view of this,the present study is aimed at using the sulfate resistant cement(SRC)as a stabilizer along with the controlled addition of sulfate solutions to mitigate the negative effect of compaction time delay in stabilizing the expansive *** bring out the above effects,three periods of time delays(0 h,6 h and 24 h)and three sulfate concentrations of 5000 parts per million(ppm),10,000 ppm and 20,000 ppm were *** experimental results showed that the delay in compaction resulted in the formation of clogs and reduction of strength of SRC-stabilized expansive *** sulfate addition to SRC-stabilized expansive soil,the formation clogs was not curtailed and resulted in the formation of ettringite *** formations were captured with the help of scanning electron microscope(SEM)images and validated with electron dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDAX)***,an attempt is also made to explain the mechanism of density and strength reduction with the aid of physico-chemical properties and mercury intrusion porosimetry(MIP)studies.

Portal hypertension(Ph)poses significant *** paper presents an innovative study on the utilization of endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)for both the diagnosis and management of *** at *** Mangunkusumo National General hospital in Jakarta,this retrospective case series included patients diagnosed with Ph through clinical examination,imaging evaluation,and *** criteria comprised a history of reduced blood consumption within the last 5 days,hepatocellular carcinoma,massive ascites,or elevated international normalized ratio(>1.4).EUS-guided portal pressure gradient(PPG)measurements were performed using an innovative standard *** study involved 15 patients,with 14 having liver cirrhosis and 1 diagnosed with Budd–Chiari *** them,nine patients experienced bleeding due to gastroesophageal *** and large esophageal varices were identified in four and eight patients,*** varices type 1 were observed in two patients,and type 2 in four *** gastric fundal varices type 1 were present in one *** on EUS-PPG measurements,14 patients exhibited clinically significant portal *** patients underwent endoscopic band ligation and three underwent EUS-guided cyanoacrylate injection during the same session as the EUS-PPG measurement ***,no adverse events,such as abdominal pain,perforation,or bleeding were observed during or after the *** emerges as a promising and accurate tool for both diagnosis and management.

Rauvolfia serpentina-Mediated Green Synthesis of CuO Nanoparticles and Its Multidisciplinary Studies

Copper oxide nanoparticles （CuO Nps） were successfully synthesized by solution combustion method using aqueous leaf extract of Rauvolfia serpentina as a fuel. The structure and morphology of the CuO nanoparticles （Nps） were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction （PXRD）, UV-visible spectroscopy （UV-visible）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, etc. The PXRD patterns reveal the formation of monoclinic phase with crystallite structure. SEM images indicate that the particles have sponge-like structure being highly porous and agglom- erated with large surface area. The average crystallite sizes were found to be in the range of 10-20 nm by Scherrer＇s method. The CuO Nps size was further confirmed by TEM. Further, CuO Nps exhibit good photocatalytic activity for the photodegradation of trypan blue dye, indicating that it acts as a promising semiconducting material. The antibacterial properties of CuO nanoparticles were investigated against pathogenic bacterial strains, namely Gram -ve Escherichia coli （NCIM-5051） and Pseudomonas desmolyticum （NCIM-2028） and Gram ＋ve bacteria Staphylococcus aureus （NCIM- 5022） using the agar well diffusion method.

The Essence of Accommodating Older Adults into the Social Care Sector in Malaysia

Population ageing puts pressure on the workforce and increase the demands for aged *** demographic shifts have made the issue of healthier workers,especially those of advanced age and physically related job scopes,a fundamental aspect to employing older ***,this study aimed to explore the best practices to employ older adults into the social care *** social care sector was chosen in view of the nature of job and declining demand among younger workers.A qualitative study was conducted involving series of focus group discussions(FGD)with social care workers of long-term care centers in the peninsular *** was collected using a validated and pre-tested semi-structured interview *** focus group discussions and in-depth interviews were lasted between 45 min to 1 h.A total of 57 workers were consented for the study which was divided into young and old workers based on the mean age of 41.43[SD±9.97]years *** content of the interviews was transcribed verbatim and thematic analysis was performed to inductively identify the coding and themes within the data related to the challenges employing older workers into the social care *** categories of coding were identified(individual,environmental and management factors),leading to the identification of two important themes which are healthy workplace and work *** findings indicate the needs for work culture transformations to cultivate healthy working environment and freedom of speech particularly among the older workers.

Evaluation of larvicidal activity of Pongamia pinnata extracts against three mosquito vectors

Objective:To evaluate the mosquito larvicidal activity of Pongamia pinnata(***)extracts against three mosquito ***:The methanol and hydroalcohol extracts of bark part of *** L were tested against fourth instar larvae of Culex quinqnefasciatus,Aedes aegypti and Anopheles *** mortality was observed 24 h and 48 h after treatment,data was subjected to probit analysis to determine lethal concentration(LC_(50)and LC_(90))to kill 50 and 90 percent of treated larvae of tested ***:The larval mortality was found in both methanol and hydroalcohol extracts of *** against Culex quinquefascialus,Aedes aegypti and Anopheles stephensi with LC_(50)values of 84.8,118.2 and 151.7 ppm;97.7,128.3 and 513 *** highest larval mortality was found in methanol extract of *** when comparable to the hydroalcohol ***:These results suggest that both methanol and hyrdoalcohol extracts have the potential to be used as an ideal ecofriendly approach for the control of disease *** could lead to isolation of novel natural larvicidal compounds.

Physio-chemical interaction of Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate copolymer on bonding ability in the cementing material used for oil and gas well

Effective bond of cement sheath to casing or formation depends on higher tensile strength and lower young's modulus which are a measure of its ability to withstand deformation under load without *** work utilized Ethylene Vinyl Acetate(EVA)redispersible polymer powder as additive in the class G cement to characterize bonding *** strength was measured for samples cured at 90°C for 3 days,whereas compressive strength was measured for samples cured at 120°C for 1 day and 3 days under atmospheric *** results showed that,with the addition of beyond 10% by weight of cement(BWOC)of polymer,not only tensile strength was improved,but also reduced young's *** of EVA additive beyond 10% BWOC showed significant benefit of flexibility in the cement ***(Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy)indicated that presence of high VA(Vinyl Acetate)has no effect on polymerization of Silicates,which shows it does not hider in the formation of C–S–h *** of chemical bond augmented with longer curing time and increased polymer content,as seen in O–h stretching vibration at 3434 cm^(−1) and from Carboxylate anion at 1571 cm^(−1) to confirm on *** Intrusion porosimeter(MIP)showed significant reduction in fraction of mesopore sizes within the cement matrix,with the polymer addition.

Sodium paranitrophenolate dihydrate (NPNa·2h2O) is an excellent semiorganic nonlinear optical (NLO) material, crystallizes both in water and methanol with high degree of transparency. Good optical quality single crystals of dimension upto 18 mm×6 mm×3 mm are obtained by isothermal solvent evaporation technique. The solubility of the crystal in different solvents was measured gravimetrically. The single crystals of NPNa·2h2O show variation in physical properties and growth rate in different solvents. Methanol or ethanol solution yields crystals of bipyramidal shape with clear morphology. however, methanol grown crystal is exhibiting improved hardness parameters and possesses excellent thermal stability as compared to water grown crystals. The effects of solvent on hardness parameter along with thermal and optical properties of NPNa·2h2O was revealed in this paper.
