Secondary Metabolites of the Genus Trichilia:Contribution to the Chemistry of Meliaceae Family

According to the literature data on the chemical composition of the Trichilia genus performed in this work, it can be concluded that 334 different compounds were isolated and identified, distributed in monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, diterpenes, triterpenes, steroids, limonoids, coumarins, flavonoids, lignans, phenolic acids, amino acids and lactones. Together with the structures of this compound, data from botanical classification and pharmaco-logical results from extracts and pure compounds on the Trichilia genus were also described. The compounds derived from terpenes pathway were more significant, corresponding to about 87.7% of isolated and identified compounds from various Trichilia species. Among the different terpenoid skeletons of this kind, limonoids were meanly reported, appearing a total of 33.9% of compounds isolated from several Trichilia species.

Species from Moraceae family stand out in popular medicine and phytotherapy, have been for example used as expectorants, bronchodilators, anthelmintics and treatment of skin diseases, such as vitiligo, due to the presence of compounds with proven biological activity, as the coumarins. Coumarins are lactones with 1,2-benzopyrone basic structure, and are widely distributed in the plant kingdom, both in free form, and in glycosylated form. This work reports a literature review, describing the data of 13C NMR from 53 coumarins isolated from the family Moraceae, and data comparison between genera who presented photochemical studies, in order to contribute to the chemotaxonomy of this family.

A mixture of new ceramides (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) together with a binary mixture of ceramides with long chain alkyl (6 and 7), triterpenoid (10) and steroids (11 and 12) have been isolated from bark of the fruits and of the stems of Luffa operculata (Cucurbitaceae). The structures were elucidated by comprehensive spectro- scopic analysis including 1H and 13C NMR, DEPT (distortionless enhancement by polarization transfer), COSY (correlated spectroscopy), HMQC (heteronuclear multiple quantum coherence), HMBC (heteronu- clear multiple bond connectivity), IR (infrared), HR-ESI-MS (electrospray ionization-high resolution mass spectra) and LR-MS (low resolution electron ionization mass spectra) experiments. All the ceramides are reported for the first time in Cucurbitaceae and this is the first report of the rare triterpene 10 isolated from Luffa operculata. The ceramides 6 and 7 showed a high acetylcholine esterase inhibitory effect.

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable and treatable malignancies, however, it still has high incidence and mortality rates, especially in less developed countries. For brazil, the estimate is more than 16,000 new cases and more than 6000 deaths annually. Despite this, vaccines against HPV (responsible for cervical cancer) are effective and promote a significant decrease in infections and neoplastic lesions of the cervix. As recommended by the World Health Organization, girls aged 9 to 14 should be vaccinated before becoming sexually active. Although the vaccine was developed in 2006, in brazil immunization only started to be carried out in 2014, initially only for girls between 9 and 11 years old. The present work is an integrative review, with the objective of explaining the current situation of vaccination against HPV throughout the country. Using the PubMed, MED-LINE and Google Scholar databases, a search for scientific articles was carried out during the year 2022, using the descriptors “Vaccine”, “HPV” and “brazil”, simultaneously selecting 17 articles. The brazilian recommendations for vaccination against HPV have undergone several strategic changes over time, in the following points: age group and gender of the target population, major site of application of vaccines and number of doses to be applied. Currently, in brazil, the recommendation for vaccination against HPV is neutral in gender, between 9 and 14 years old and in immunosuppressed people up to 45 years old, with a vaccination schedule of 2 doses with an interval of 6 months between them, and 3 doses for those from 15 years and immunocompromised individual (0 - 2 - 6 months). The tetravalent vaccine offered by public funding continues to be applied at health centers, despite several favorable criticisms of the return of application in schools. Water Hyacinth Control by Glyphosate Herbicide and Its Impact on Water Quality

The aim of this study was to evaluate the herbicide glyphosate under aquatic environment conditions, in a controlled and closed experimental field, in the management of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) in reservoirs. Twenty reservoirs (polyethylene water tanks) with storage capacity of 1000 liters were used, without water flow and without evapotranspired water replacement (worst case), being 04 for each treatment. The adult plants were placed in the water tanks to provide 90% surface occupation of the reservoir. Five treatments with four repetitions were considered, being: 1) Reservoir colonized by water hyacinth without control;2) Reservoir colonized by water hyacinth, controlled by glyphosate;3) Reservoir colonized by water hyacinth, controlled by freezing;4) Reservoir without water hyacinth and glyphosate application and 5) Reservoir without water hyacinth and no glyphosate application. The glyphosate herbicide was used at the highest recommended dose, 7.0 L·ha-1 or 3360 g of acid equivalent per ha, applied using carbon dioxide precision equipment (backpack sprayer), providing a flow rate of 200 L·ha-1. The water samples were collected at the time of application, 6, 12, 18 and 24 hours after application and also at 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 days after application, in the morning, always at the same time, also between 8 and 9 h. The method used for determination of residues was by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and mass spectrometry with a mass selective detector. Low concentrations of glyphosate and aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA) were found in both reservoirs that received application of the product. The half-life of glyphosate in water to the reservoirs with water hyacinth was 11 days and in the reservoirs without water hyacinth was 21 days. The results show a low potential of environmental impact of glyphosate use in the control of water hyacinth in reservoirs.
