Integrated Rock Typing of the Grainstone Facies in a Sequence Framework：a Case from the Jurassic Arab Formation in the Persian Gulf

The late Jurassic Arab Formation, a significant carbonate-evaporite reservoir rock in the Persian Gulf, is characterized by frequent grainstone facies. For rock type identification and reservoir characterization, core description, petrographic studies and pore system evaluation are integrated for Balal oil field in the Persian Gulf. The grainstone facies are developed into three shoal subenvironments on a carbonate ramp platform： leeward, central and seaward. Compaction, dissolution, cementation, anhydrite mineralization and dolomitization are the main diagenetic processes affecting the depositional pore system. Considering depositional and diagenetic features and pore types, the grainstones are classified into six rock types （RT 1 to RT6）. Rock types 1, 2 and 5 have large pore throat sizes with inter- granular and touching vug pore types. In rock type 3, moldic pores lead to high porosity and low permeability. Rock types 4 and 6 are cemented by anhydrite, calcite and dolomite. Generally, RTs 1, 2, 3 and 5 are related to late Transgressive systems tract （TST） and early Highstand systems tracts （HST） and show fair to good reservoir quality. In contrast, RTs 4 and 6 of late HST system tract show lower poroperm values, due to evaporite mineralization. Characterization of the grainstone facies provides a comprehensive understanding of the reservoir zones of the Arab Formation.

Tight gas sands in Whicher Range Field of Perth Basin show large heterogeneity in reservoir characteristics and production behavior related to depositional and diagenetic features. Diagenetic events (compaction and cementation) have severely affected the pore system. In order to investigate the petrophysical characteristics, reservoir sandstone facies were correlated with core porosity and permeability and their equivalent well log responses to describe hydraulic flow units and electrofacies, respectively. Thus, very tight, tight, and sub-tight sands were differentiated. To reveal the relationship between pore system properties and depositional and diagenetic characteristics in each sand type, reservoir rock types were extracted. The identified reservoir rock types are in fact a reflection of internal reservoir heterogeneity related to pore system properties. All reservoir rock types are characterized by a compacted fabric and cemented framework. But distribution and dominance of diagenetic products in each of them depend on primary depositional composition and texture. The results show that reservoir rock typing based on three aspects of reservoir sandstones (depositional properties, diagenetic features and petrophysical characteristics) is a suitable technique for depiction of reservoir heterogeneity, recognition of reservoir units and identifying factors controlling reservoir quality of tight sandstones. This methodology can be used for the other tight reservoirs.

Integrated reservoir characterization of the Permo-Triassic gas reservoirs in the Central Persian Gulf

The upper Dalan and Kangan or Permian-Triassic carbonate formations in the central the Persian Gulf are considered as world's giant gas reservoirs. The primary purpose of this research is to model and evaluate the relationship between hydraulic flow units(HFUs), electrofacies and microfacies with systems tracts of Permian-Triassic sequences. By integrating the results of core data, petrographic studies, and petrophysical logs of the studied formations, hydraulic flow units and electrofacies were identified. Based on the results of petrographic studies, twelve microfacies were identified in terms of textural and depositional characteristics. Based on depositional setting, sedimentary facies and INPEFA values obtained from gamma ray log and gamma deviation log(GDL) in the context of sequence stratigraphy, zonation of Dalan and Kangan reservoirs is carried out. The zonation boundaries correspond to the key stratal surfaces(sequence boundary and maximum flooding surface). Seven petrographic rock types(PRT) were identified for the upper Dalan-Kangan reservoirs based on sedimentary texture, diagenetic process and dominant pores. Using porosity and permeability data from the core analysis, five hydraulic flow units were identified based on the flow zone indicator(FZI) method. Using multi-resolution graph-based clustering(MRGC) four electrofacies were detected from petrophysical data(gamma, neutron, density and acoustic logs). Subsequently, the INPEFA, GDL and electrofacies were spatially modeled using the sequential indicator simulation(SIS) and sequential Gaussian simulation(SGS) geostatistical ***, a clear agreement was revealed between the reservoir zones and the stratigraphic sequence framework. It this regard, the microfacies belonging to the high-energy and grain-dominated settings(packstone, grainstone) of leeward shoal, shoal and seaward shoal belts have the best reservoir units due to the influence of dissolution and dolomitization. Investigation of the Effects of Baffles on the Shallow Water Sloshing in A Rectangular Tank Using A 2D Turbulent ISPH Method

Liquid sloshing is a common phenomenon in the liquid tanks transportation. Liquid waves lead to fluctuating forces on the tank wall. Uncontrolled fluctuations lead to large forces and momentums. Baffles can control these fluctuations. A numerical method, which has been widely used to model this phenomenon, is Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics(SPH). The Lagrangian nature of this method makes it suitable for simulating free surface flows. In the present study, an accurate Incompressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics(ISPH) method is developed and improved using the kernel gradient correction tensors, particle shifting algorithms, k–ε turbulence model, and free surface particle detectors. Comparisons with the experimental data approve the ability of the present algorithm for simulating shallow water sloshing. The main aim of this study is to investigate the effects of the vertical baffle on the damping of liquid sloshing. Results show that baffles number has a major role in sloshing fluctuation damping.

Effect of residual structural strain caused by the addition of Co3O4 nanoparticles on the structural, hardness and magnetic properties of an Al/Co3O4 nanocomposite produced by powder metallurgy

Al composites are of interest due to their appropriate ratio of strength to *** our research,an Al/Co3O4 nanocomposite was generated using a sintering *** powders of Al with various Co3O4 nanoparticle contents(0 wt%,0.5 wt%,1.0 wt%,1.5 wt%,2.0 wt%,and2.5 wt%)were first blended using planetary milling for 30 min,and compressed in a cylindrical steel mold with a diameter of 1 cm and a height of5 cm at a pressure of 80 *** samples were evaluated with X-ray diffractometry(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Vickers hardness,and a vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM).Although the crystallite size of the Al particles remained constant at 7–10 nm,the accumulation of nanoparticles in the Al particle interspace increased the structural tensile strain from 0.0045 to 0.0063,the hardness from HV 28 to HV 52 and the magnetic saturation from 0.044 to 0.404 emu/g with an increase in Co3O4 nanoparticle content from 0 wt%to 2.5 wt%.

Full-Quantum Simulation of Graphene Self-Switching Diodes

We present a quantum study on the electrical behavior of the self-switching diode(SSD). Our simulation is based on non-equilibrium Green's function formalism along with an atomistic tight-binding model. Using this method,electrical characteristics of devices, such as turn-on voltage, rectification ratio, and differential resistance, are investigated. Also, the effects of geometrical variations on the electrical parameters of SSDs are simulated. The carrier distribution inside the nano-channel is successfully simulated in a two-dimensional model under zero,reverse, and forward bias conditions. The results indicate that the turn-on voltage, rectification ratio, and differential resistance can be optimized by choosing appropriate geometrical parameters.

Visible and near infrared spectroscopy is a non-destructive,green,and rapid technology that can be utilized to estimate the components of interest without conditioning it,as compared with classical analytical *** objective of this paper is to compare the performance of artificial neural network(ANN)(a nonlinear model)and principal component regression(PCR)(a linear model)based on visible and shortwave near infrared(VIS-SWNIR)(400-1000 nm)spectra in the non-destructive soluble solids content measurement of an ***,we used multiplicative scattering correction to pre-process the spectral ***,PCR was applied to estimate the optimal number of input ***,the input variables with an optimal amount were used as the inputs of both multiple linear regression and ANN *** initial weights and the number of hidden neurons were adjusted to optimize the performance of *** suggest that the predictive performance of ANN with two hidden neurons outperforms that of PCR.

Cohen-Macaulay Lexsegment Complexes in Arbitrary Codimension

We characterize pure lexsegment complexes which are Cohen-Macaulay in arbitrary codimension. More precisely, we prove that any lexsegment complex is Cohen- Macaulay if and only if it is pure and its 1-dimensional links are connected, and that a lexsegment flag complex is Cohen-Macaulay if and only if it is pure and connected. We show that any non-Cohen-Macaulay lexsegment complex is a Buchsbaum complex if and only if it is a pure disconnected flag complex. For t≥2, a lexsegment complex is strictly Cohen-Macaulay in codimension t if and only if it is the join of a lexsegment pure discon- nected flag complex with a （t - 2）-dimensional simplex. When the Stanley-Reisner ideal of a pure lexsegment complex is not quadratic, the complex is Cohen-Macaulay if and only if it is Cohen-Macaulay in some codimension. Our results are based on a characterization of Cohen-Macaulay and Buchsbaum lexsegment complexes by Bonanzinga, Sorrenti and Terai.

Correction of failure in antenna array using matrix pencil technique

In this paper a non-iterative technique is developed for the correction of faulty antenna array based on matrix pencil technique（MPT）. The failure of a sensor in antenna array can damage the radiation power pattern in terms of sidelobes level and nulls. In the developed technique, the radiation pattern of the array is sampled to form discrete power pattern information set. Then this information set can be arranged in the form of Hankel matrix（HM） and execute the singular value decomposition（SVD）. By removing nonprincipal values, we obtain an optimum lower rank estimation of HM. This lower rank matrix corresponds to the corrected pattern. Then the proposed technique is employed to recover the weight excitation and position allocations from the estimated matrix. Numerical simulations confirm the efficiency of the proposed technique, which is compared with the available techniques in terms of sidelobes level and nulls.

. Let S = k[x1,..., xn] be a non-standard polynomial ring over a field k and let M be a finitely generated graded S-module. In this paper, we investigate the behaviour of Hilbert function of M and its relations with lattice point counting. More precisely, by using combinatorial tools, we prove that there exists a polytope such that the image of Hilbert function in some degree is equal to the number of lattice points of this polytope.
