Magnesium is one of the largely available elements in the earth’s crust. It has a low structural density with high specific strength. This unique material property has forced an increase in the use of magnesium and its alloys in various applications pertaining to industrial sector,automobiles, aerospace and biomedical. Since magnesium is a highly reactive metal, it is prone to higher rate of corrosion as compared to its counterparts. Thus, it is essential to analyze the corrosion behavior of magnesium and its alloys in its applications. An appropriate process is to be followed in the design and development of magnesium alloys which overcome the limitations of magnesium and enhance the desired material properties in accordance to their applications. This review paper summarizes the importance of magnesium and its material properties. The influence of various alloying elements on the mechanical properties of magnesium is reviewed. The broad classification of Mg alloys and their behavioral trends are detailed. The corrosion behavior of magnesium and the influence of corrosion products on the material characteristics of magnesium, in aqueous medium, are discussed. The manufacturing techniques of magnesium alloys along with the secondary techniques are also covered. The various applications and the limitations of magnesium in these applications are covered. A complete section is dedicated towards detailing the recent trends of magnesium(Mg) alloys, i.e., the biodegradable nature and applications of Mg alloys. The influence of biocorrosion on Mg alloys and techniques to overcome it have been deliberated. This paper provides a thorough review on recent developments of magnesium with respect to engineering applications.

Effects of roller burnishing process parameters on surface roughness of A356/5%SiC composite using response surface methodology

In this study, a simple roller burnishing tool was made to operate burnishing processes on A356/5%SIC metal matrix composite fabricated by electromagnetic stir casting under different parameters. The effects of burnishing speed, burnishing force and number of burnishing passes on the surface roughness and tribological properties were measured. Scanning electron microscopy （SEM） graphs of the machined surface with PCD （insert-10） tool and roller burnished surface with tungsten carbide （WC） roller were taken into consider- ation to observe the surface finish of metal matrix composites. The mechanical properties （tensile strength, hardness, duc- tility） of A356/5%SIC metal matrix composites were studied for both unburnished samples and burnished samples. The results revealed that the roller burnished samples of A356/ 5%SIC led to the improvement in tensile strength, hardness and ductility. In order to find out the effects of roller bur- nishing process parameters on the surface roughness of A356/ 5%SIC metal matrix composite, response surface methodol- ogy （RSM）（Box-Behnken design） was used and a prediction model was developed relevant to average surface roughness using experimental data. In the range of process parameters, the result shows that roller burnishing speed increases, and surface roughness decreases, but on the other hand roller burnishing force and number of passes increase, and surface roughness increases. Optimum values of burnishing speed （1.5 m/s）, burnishing force （50 N） and number of passes （2） during roller burnishing of A356/5%SIC metal matrix com- posite to minimize the surface roughness （predicted 1.232 μm） have been found out. There was only 5.03% error in the experimental and modeled results of surface roughness.

Construction of EST-SSR Databases for Effective Cultivar Identification and Their Applicability to Complement for Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) Distinctness Test

The objectives of this study were to construct a database of expressed sequence tag (EST)-simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers to identify lettuce cultivars. A set of 370 EST-SSR primer pairs were applied for fingerprinting the lettuce cultivars. Fifty-eight EST-SSR markers showed hy-per-variability and were able to differentiate 92 cultivars. A total of 176 polymorphic amplified fragments were obtained by the 58 markers, and two to eight SSR alleles were detected for each l°Cus with an average of three alleles per locus. Average polymorphism information content (PIC) was 0.425, ranging from 0.022 to 0.743. Cluster analysis was based on Jaccard’s distance coefficients using the method of unweighted pair group. In this method we used arithmetical averages (UPGMA) algorithm categorized 4 major groups, which were in accordance to morphological traits. The eight cultivars of three groups with 100% genetic similarity through SSR analysis were investigated by phenotypic traits. These cultivars including these pairs are very similar in 27 morphological characteristics. Therefore, these EST-SSR markers could be used to select similar cultivars through management of reference collection to complement distinctiveness test of lettuce cultivars.

Gallbladder carcinoid masquerading as gallbladder carcinoma

BACKGROUND:Carcinoid of the gallbladder is *** it often presents as a gallbladder mass it may be confused with gallbladder carcinoma. METHODS:A 35-year-old lady presented with pain in the right upper abdomen,and was radiologically found to have a gallbladder mass.A provisional diagnosis of gallbladder carcinoma was *** revealed a 20×20 cm, exophytic,friable growth arising from the fundus of the *** was excised with segmentⅣb andⅤof the liver and regional lymphadenectomy. RESULT:Histopathological examination revealed it was a neuroendocrine carcinoma,atypical carcinoid of the gallbladder. CONCLUSION:Gallbladder carcinoid has a poor outcome, requires aggressive treatment,and should be considered as one of the rare but possible gallbladder lesions.

Fault current magnitude in a microgrid depends upon its mode of operation,namely,grid-connected mode or islanded *** on the type of fault in a given mode,separate protection schemes are generally *** the change in microgrid operating mode,the protection scheme needs to be modified which is uneconomical and time *** this paper,a novel optimal protection coordination scheme is proposed,one which enables a common optimal relay setting which is valid in both operating modes of the *** this con-text,a common optimal protection scheme is introduced for dual setting directional overcurrent relays(DOCRs)using a combination of various standard relay *** with the two variables,i.e.,time multiplier setting(TMS)and plug setting(PS)for conventional directional overcurrent relay,dual setting DOCRs are augmented with a third variable of relay characteristics identifier(RCI),which is responsible for selecting optimal relay characteristics from the standard relay characteristics according to the IEC-60255 *** relay coordination problem is formulated as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming(MINLP)problem,and the settings of relays are optimally determined using the genetic algorithm(GA)and the grey wolf optimization(GWO)*** validate the superiority of the pro-posed protection scheme,the distribution parts of the IEEE-14 and IEEE-30 bus benchmark systems are considered.

The Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)outbreak was rst discovered in Wuhan,China,and it has since spread to more than 200 *** World Health Organization proclaimed COVID-19 a public health emergency of international concern on January 30,***,a quickly spreading infection that could jeopardize the well-being of countless individuals requires prompt action to forestall the malady in a timely ***19 is a major threat worldwide due to its ability to rapidly *** vaccines are yet available for *** objective of this paper is to examine the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic,specically studying Hubei Province,China;Taiwan;South Korea;Japan;and Italy,in terms of exposed,infected,recovered/deceased,original conrmed cases,and predict conrmed cases in specic countries by using the susceptible-exposed-infectious-recovered model to predict the future outbreak of *** applied four differential equations to calculate the number of conrmed cases in each country,plotted them on a graph,and then applied polynomial regression with the logic of multiple linear regression to predict the further spread of the *** also compared the calculated and predicted cases of conrmed population and plotted them in the graph,where we could see that the lines of calculated and predicted cases do intersect with each other to give the perfect true results for the future spread of the *** study considered the cases from 22 January 2020 to 25 April 2020.

Blue-Shift and Enhanced Photoluminescence in BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+ Nanophosphor under VUV Excitation for PDPs Application

In this report, five systems of varied diameters viz. 62 nm, 85 nm, 115 nm, 160 nm and 450 nm of BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+ nanorods are prepared by solution combustion approach and with annealing at different temperature in reduced atmosphere (N2 + H2). An intense broad blue photoluminescence (PL), corresponding to the electronic transition of Eu2+ from the 4f 6 5d excited state to the 4f 7 ground state, is observed. The blue-shift and enhanced photoluminescence is also observed, and found to be highly dependent on the size of diameter of BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+ nanostructures. The change in decay time and color-coordinates with change in size of diameter of BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+ nanostructure have been analysed and thoroughly discussed.

Transformation of User Interface to Activity Models and Assessing Performance of WA/WS

Quality of Service is an important attribute of a software system. In retrospect, performance assessment based on user interaction with the system has given a better understanding of underlying disciplines of the product. In this paper, we capture user interaction with the prototype/User Interface (UI). An approach for developing activity model from the user interface model is presented using workflows and functional elements. A methodology is proposed to transform UI into activity diagram. The approach is validated by an experimental setup using Amazon service. The performance of Amazon service is assessed using activity based performance prediction methodology, and the simulation results are obtained using SMTQA.
