Bacteria and host: what does this mean for sepsis bottleneck?

BACKGROUND: Sepsis is a life-threatening inflammatory condition in which the invading pathogen avoids the host's defense mechanisms and continuously stimulates and damages host cells. Consequently, many immune responses initially triggered for protection become harmful because of the failure to restore homeostasis, resulting in ongoing hyperinflammation and immunosuppression. METHODS: A literature review was conducted to address bacterial sepsis, describe advances in understanding complex immunological reactions, critically assess diagnostic approaches, and emphasize the importance of studying bacterial bottlenecks in the detection and treatment of ***: Diagnosing sepsis via a single laboratory test is not feasible;therefore, multiple key biomarkers are typically monitored, with a focus on trends rather than absolute values. The immediate interpretation of sepsis-associated clinical signs and symptoms, along with the use of specific and sensitive laboratory tests, is crucial for the survival of patients in the early stages. However, long-term mortality associated with sepsis is now recognized, and alongside the progression of this condition, there is an in vivo selection of adapted ***: Bacterial sepsis remains a significant cause of mortality across all ages and societies. While substantial progress has been made in understanding the immunological mechanisms underlying the inflammatory response, there is growing recognition that the ongoing host-pathogen interactions, including the emergence of adapted virulent strains, shape both the acute and long-term outcomes in sepsis. This underscores the urgent need for novel high-throughput diagnostic methods and a shift toward more pre-emptive, rather than reactive, treatment strategies in sepsis care.

Spin Resolved Zero-Line Modes in Minimally Twisted Bilayer Graphene from Exchange Field and Gate Voltage

The reliance on spin-orbit coupling or strong magnetic fields has always posed significant challenges for the mass production and even laboratory realization of most topological materials. Valley-based topological zero-line modes have attracted widespread attention due to their substantial advantage of being initially realizable with just an external electric field. However, the uncontrollable nature of electrode alignment and precise fabrication has greatly hindered the advancement in this field. By utilizing minimally twisted bilayer graphene and introducing exchange fields from magnetic substrates, we successfully realize a spin-resolved, electrode-free topological zeroline mode. Further integration of electrodes that do not require alignment considerations significantly enhances the tunability of the system's band structure. Our approach offers a promising new support for the dazzling potential of topological zero-line mode in the realm of low-energy-consumption electronics.

THE EFFECTS OF TIMING OF PULSE SPRAYING AND RELEASING PERIODS ON DYNAMICS OF GENERALIZED PREDATOR-PREY MODEL

Based on the facts of releasing natural enemies and spraying pesticides at different time points, we propose a generalized predator-prey model with impulsive interventions. The threshold values for the existence and stability of pest eradication periodic solution are provided under the assumptions of releasing natural enemies either more or less frequent than spray. In order to address how the different pulse time points, control tactics affect the pest control （i.e. the threshold value）, the Holling Type II Lotka-Volterra predator- prey system, as an example, with impulsive intervention at different time points axe investigated carefully. The numerical results show how the threshold values are affected by the factors including instantaneous killing rates of pesticides on pests and natural enemies, the release rate of natural enemies and release constant, timing of pesticide application and timing of release period. Furthermore, it is confirmed that the system has the coexistences of pests and natural enemies for a wide range of parameters and with quite different pest amplitudes.

A local f-x Cadzow method for noise reduction of seismic data obtained in complex formations

A noise-reduction method with sliding called the local f-x Cadzow noise-reduction method, windows in the frequency-space （f-x） domain, is presented in this paper. This method is based on the assumption that the signal in each window is linearly predictable in the spatial direction while the random noise is not. For each Toeplitz matrix constructed by constant frequency slice, a singular value decomposition （SVD） is applied to separate signal from noise. To avoid edge artifacts caused by zero percent overlap between windows and to remove more noise, an appropriate overlap is adopted. Besides flat and dipping events, this method can enhance curved and conflicting events. However, it is not suitable for seismic data that contains big spikes or null traces. It is also compared with the SVD, f-x deconvolution, and Cadzow method without windows. The comparison results show that the local Cadzow method performs well in removing random noise and preserving signal. In addition, a real data example proves that it is a potential noise-reduction technique for seismic data obtained in areas of complex formations.

Intelligent identification method of insulation pull rod defects based on intactness-aware Mosaic data augmentation and fusion of YOLOv5s

The authors introduce the intactness-aware Mosaic data augmentation strategy,designed to tackle challenges such as low accuracy in detecting defects in insulation pull rods,limited timeliness in intelligent analysis,and the absence of a comprehensive database for information on insulation pull rod *** proposed strategy incorporates the YOLOv5s algorithm for detecting defects in insulation pull ***,the YOLOv5s network was constructed,and a dataset containing photos of insulation pull rods with white spots,fractures,impurities,and bubble flaws was compiled to capture images of *** research presented a data enhancement approach to improve the images and establish a dataset for insulation pull rod *** YOLOv5s algorithm was applied for both training and testing purposes.A comparative analysis was conducted to assess the detection performance of YOLOv5s against a conventional target detector for identifying defects in insulation pull ***,the utility of Mosaic's data augmentation technique,which incorporates intactness awareness,was evaluated to enhance the accuracy of identifying insulation pull rod *** research findings indicate that the YOLOv5s algorithm is employed for intelligent detection and precise localisation of *** intactnessaware Mosaic data augmentation strategy significantly improves the accuracy of detecting faults in insulation pull *** YOLOv5s model used achieves a performance index mAP@0.5:0.95 of 0.563 on the test set,distinct from the training set *** a threshold of 0.5,the mAP@0.5 score is 0.904,indicating a substantial improvement in both detection efficiency and accuracy compared to conventional target detection *** approaches for identifying defects in insulation pull rods are introduced.

Phase spectrum estimation of the seismic wavelet based on a criterion function

Phase spectrum estimation of the seismic wavelet is an important issue in high-resolution seismic data processing and interpretation. On the basis of two patterns of constant-phase rotation and root transform for wavelet phase spectrum variation, we introduce six sparse criteria, including Lu’s improved kurtosis criterion, the parsimony criterion, exponential transform criterion, Sech criterion, Cauchy criterion, and the modified Cauchy criterion, to phase spectrum estimation of the seismic wavelet, obtaining an equivalent effect to the kurtosis criterion. Through numerical experiments, we find that when the reflectivity is not a sparse sequence, the estimated phase spectrum of the seismic wavelet based on the criterion function will deviate from the true value. In order to eliminate the influence of non-sparse reflectivity series in a single trace, we apply the method to the multi-trace seismogram, improving the accuracy of seismic wavelet phase spectrum estimation.

We numerically investigate the mesoscopic electronic transport properties of Bernal-stacked bilayer/trilayer graphene connected with four monolayer graphene *** armchair-terminated metallic bilayer graphene,we show that the current from one incoming terminal can be equally partitioned into other three outgoing terminals near the charge-neutrality point,and the conductance periodically fluctuates,which is independent of the ribbon width but influenced by the interlayer hopping *** finding can be clearly understood by using the wave function matching method,in which a quantitative relationship between the periodicity,Fermi energy,and interlayer hopping energy can be ***,for the trilayer case,when the Fermi energy is located around the charge-neutrality point,the fractional quantized conductance 1/(4e 2h)can be achieved when system exceeds a critical length.

A seismic texture coherence algorithm and its application

The first generation coherence algorithm （the C1 algorithm） that calculates the coherence of seismic data in-line and cross-line was developed using statistical cross-correlation theory, and it has the limitation that the technique can only be applied to horizons. Based on the texture technique, the texture coherence algorithm uses seismic information in different directions and differences among multiple traces. It can not only calculate seismic coherence in in-line and cross-line directions but also in all other directions. In this study, we suggested first an optimization method and a criterion for constructing the gray level co-occurrence matrix of the seismic texture coherence algorithm. Then the co-occurrence matrix was prepared to evaluate differences among multiple traces. Compared with the C1 algorithm, the seismic texture coherence algorithm suggested in this paper is better than the C1 in its information extraction and application. Furthermore, it implements the multi-direction information fusion and it, also has the advantage of simplicity and effectiveness, and improves the resolution of the seismic profile. Application of the method to field data shows that the texture coherence attribute is superior to that of C 1 and that it has merits in identification of faults and channels.

Swarm intelligence optimization and its application in geophysical data inversion

The inversions of complex geophysical data always solve multi-parameter, nonlinear, and multimodal optimization problems. Searching for the optimal inversion solutions is similar to the social behavior observed in swarms such as birds and ants when searching for food. In this article, first the particle swarm optimization algorithm was described in detail, and ant colony algorithm improved. Then the methods were applied to three different kinds of geophysical inversion problems：（1） a linear problem which is sensitive to noise, （2） a synchronous inversion of linear and nonlinear problems, and （3） a nonlinear problem. The results validate their feasibility and efficiency. Compared with the conventional genetic algorithm and simulated annealing, they have the advantages of higher convergence speed and accuracy. Compared with the quasi-Newton method and Levenberg-Marquardt method, they work better with the ability to overcome the locally optimal solutions.

Valuation and comparison of the actual and optimal control strategy in an emerging infectious disease:Implication from a COVID-19 transmission model

To effectively combat emerging infectious diseases like COVID-19,it is crucial to adopt strict prevention and control measures promptly to effectively contain the spread of the *** this paper,we propose a transmission model to investigate the influence of two control strategies:reducing contact numbers and improving medical *** examine these strategies in terms of constant control and time-varying *** sensitivity analysis on two reproduction numbers of the model with constant control,we demonstrate that reducing contact numbers is more effective than improving medical ***,these two constant controls significantly influence the peak values and timing of ***,intensifying control measures can reduce peak values,albeit at the expense of delaying the peak *** the model with time-varying control,we initially explore the corresponding optimal control problem and derive the characteristic expression of optimal ***,we utilize real data from January 10th to April 12th,2020,in Wuhan city as a case study to perform parameter estimation by using our proposed improved *** findings illustrate that implementing optimal control measures can effectively reduce infections and deaths,and shorten the duration of the ***,we numerically explore that implementing control measures promptly and increasing intensity to reduce contact numbers can make actual control be more closer to optimized ***,we utilize the real data from October 31st to November 18th,2021,in Hebei province as a second case study to validate the feasibility of our proposed suggestions.
