Introduction: Non-Syndromic Clefts Lip-Palates (NSCLP/CP) are most common congenital malformation in the world, with very important psychic and social impact. Formation of NSCLP/CP arises from the interaction of environmental and genetic factors. This paper provides a review of recent progress in defining the genetic causes of NSCLP. Methods: A literature review was conducted on the Medline data by searching for the following keywords: genes, non-syndromic cleft lip-palate, and genetics of clefts lip-palates, until January 2018. Results: Various genes are identified in different population and country, with the study using case parent’s trio. The aim of this study contributes to review relative gene which has been identify in non-syndromic cleft lip and palate, and to help to have a better understanding of the inheritance pattern of this pathology and the prevention of genetic disease. Conclusion: Although three major genes have been confirmed, the genetic research is necessary to provide an understanding of the pathophysiology of the clefts lip-palates.

Surgical Treatment of Complex Axillary Scare Contractures: One Case Report

Background: Axillary scar contracture is frequently observed after severe burn insult and is usually accompanied by scarred adjacent area. These scars result in adduction deformity, which may be severe and diffuse. The lack of adequate treatment in the acute phase leads to complex scars that require different surgical techniques depending on the clinical examination of surgeon. Aim: Expose the possible surgical techniques, their advantages and disadvantages in the case of burning of the entire axillary hollow. The surgical management of linear scares contractures will not be discussed in this article. Case presentation: This is a rare clinical case of a 12-year-old girl who was burned at the age of 5 with disabling functional sequelae of the axillary area (limitation of the abduction to 30 degrees). The patient is treated at ALGHASSANI Hospital in Fes city/Morocco. Parental consent was taken for scientific publication. Results: We did two surgical interventions: the first starting with excision of the scar tissue leaving a loss of skin covered by a laterothoracic IC fasciocutaneous flap. The second one was a semi-thick skin graft to cover the supero and infero external quadrants of the left breast. We obtain the abduction at 110 degrees. Conclusion: Early surgical management of deep lesions within 21 days of the burn associated with prolonged rehabilitation and the wearing of compression garments and splints are essential elements in the prevention of these axillary contractures.

As a result from the demanding of process safety, reliability and environmental constraints, a called of fault detection and diagnosis system become more and more important. In this article some basic aspects of TSK (Takigi Sugeno Kang) neuro-fuzzy techniques for the prognosis and diagnosis of manufacturing systems are presented. In particular, a neuro-fuzzy model that can be used for the identification and the simulation of faults prognosis models is described. The presented model is motivated by a cooperative neuro-fuzzy approach based on a vectorized recurrent neural network architecture. The neuro-fuzzy architecture maps the residuals into two classes: a one of fixed direction residuals and another one of faults belonging to rotary kiln.

The RNA helicase DHX15 is widely expressed in immune cells and traditionally thought to be an RNA splicing factor or a viral RNA ***,the role of DHX15 in NK-cell activities has not been studied thus ***,we generated Dhx15-floxed mice and found that conditional deletion of Dhx15 in NK cells(Ncr1CreDhx15fl/fl mice)resulted in a marked reduction in NK cells in the periphery and that the remaining Dhx15-deleted NK cells failed to acquire a mature *** a result,Dhx15-deleted NK cells exhibited profound defects in their cytolytic *** also found that deletion of Dhx15 in NK cells abrogated their responsiveness to IL-15,which was associated with inhibition of IL-2/IL-15Rβ(CD122)expression and IL-15R *** defects in Dhx15-deleted NK cells were rescued by ectopic expression of a constitutively active form of ***,DHX15 did not affect CD122 mRNA splicing and stability in NK cells but instead facilitated the surface expression of CD122,likely through interaction with its 3′UTR,which was dependent on the ATPase domain of DHX15 rather than its splicing ***,our data identify a key role for DHX15 in regulating NK-cell activities and provide novel mechanistic insights into how DHX15 regulates the IL-15 signaling pathway in NK cells.

The olive mill waste waters (OMWW) generated from olive oil extraction is a major environmental concern since they are characterized by their role as a pollutant (high organic and mineral matters) and their pH acid. The aim of this study was to valorize (OMWW) by anaerobic fermentation in the presence of cow manure in order to produce biogas and reduce their toxic load. Many tests were carried out by fermenting (OMWW) with polyphenols in the presence of cow manure in thermophile temperatures. The performance of this treatment was valuated through measurements of biogas production and by the determination of different parameters of fermented media (pH, volume of the biogas and polyphenols).

The maxillomandibular fusion is a very rare condition, with no more than forty cases described in the literature. Adhesions of bone and/or soft tissue between the mandible and maxilla manifest themselves in the inability to open the mouth added to impacts on mandibular growth, nutrition and speech. This condition can be isolated or, when congenital, associated with other anomalies such as cleft lip and palate, aglossia, or Van der Woude syndrome. In the present paper, we report a case of maxillomandibular fusion treated in our department at University Hospital, between February 2011 and June 2014. The case is a congenital maxillomandibular fusion in a two-year-old infant, associated with a syndrome of Van der Woude. We discuss the diagnostic and treatment difficulties on the anaesthetic and surgical levels and the action to be taken to avoid recurrence. To date, some classifications have been suggested in the literature, but there is no standard treatment protocol. Early treatment is necessary to allow freedom of the upper airway, and ensure proper nutrition and good growth of facial bones. The success of surgery is conditioned by an adequate physiotherapy follow-up likely to guarantee the non-recurrence of the lesion.

Based on the recent observation of the asymmetry of light energy flow through a material system that is similar to an iridescent beetle’s cuticle, we discuss the key roles of chiral molecular organization (responsible for the iridescent color of beetles) and of asymmetric boundary conditions (defined by the position of their cuticle) in the evolution of such photonic biological structures. Question is raised about the possible role of such energy flow asymmetry in the radiative thermoregulation of those beetles.

This paper presents a new methodology for direct torque control (DTC) with improvement method control for induction motor (IM) systems. The application of approached method DTC (AMDTC), allows by using two hysteresis controllers to regulate torque and flux with the information of the angular location to address the switching table. The principal advantage of this AMDTC (optimization method of DTC) enables the minimization of the electromagnetic torque ripple and the reduction of the output current total harmonic distortion (THDI). This paper presents a PFCVF (Power Factor Correction) rectifier that uses a variable frequency source for alternators for electric and hybrid vehicles application. In such application, the frequency of the signal in the alternator changes according to the vehicle speed, more over the loading effect on the alternator introduces harmonic currents and increases the alternator apparent power requirements. To overcome these problems and aiming more stability and better design of the alternator, a new third harmonic injection technique is proposed. This technique allows to preserve a good THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) of the input source at any frequency and to decrease losses in semiconductors switches, thereby allowing more stability and reducing the apparent power requirements. A comparative study between the standard and the new technique is made and highlights the effectiveness of the new design. A detailed analysis of the proposed topology is presented and simulations as well as experimental results are shown.
