Moirépatterns from two-dimensional(2D)graphene heterostructures assembled via van der Waals interactions have sparked considerable interests in physics with the purpose to tailor the electronic properties of *** we report for the first time the observation of moire patterns arising from a bilayer graphone/graphene superlattice produced through direct single-sided hydrogenation of a bilayer graphene on *** to pristine graphene,the bilayer superlattice exhibits a rippled surface and two types of moire patterns are observed:triangular and linear moire patterns with the periodicities of 11 nm and 8-9 nm,*** moire patterns are revealed from atomic force microscopy and further confirmed by following fast Fourier transform(FFT)*** functional theory(DFT)calculations are also performed and the optimized lattice constants of bilayer superlattice heterostructure are in line with our experimental *** findings show that well-defined triangular and linear periodic potentials can be introduced into the graphene system through the single-sided hydrogenation and also open a route towards the tailoring of electronic properties of graphene by various moirépotentials.

Efficient and economic reuse of waste is one of the pillars of modern environmental engineering. In the field of domestic sewage management,source separation of yellow（urine）,brown（faecal matter）and grey waters aims to recover the organic substances concentrated in brown water,the nutrients（nitrogen and phosphorous）in the urine and to ensure an easier treatment and recycling of grey waters. With the objective of emphasizing the potential of recovery of resources from sewage management,a lab-scale research study was carried out at the University of Padova in order to evaluate the performances of oleaginous plants（suitable for biodiesel production）in the phytotreatment of source separated yellow and grey waters. The plant species used were Brassica napus（rapeseed）,Glycine max（soybean）and Helianthus annuus（sunflower）. Phytotreatment tests were carried out using 20 L pots. Different testing runs were performed at an increasing nitrogen concentration in the feedstock. The results proved that oleaginous species can conveniently be used for the phytotreatment of grey and yellow waters from source separation of domestic sewage,displaying high removal efficiencies of nutrients and organic substances（nitrogen 〉 80%; phosphorous 〉 90%; COD nearly 90%）. No inhibition was registered in the growth of plants irrigated with different mixtures of yellow and grey waters,where the characteristics of the two streams were reciprocally and beneficially integrated.

In this study,a top cover system is investigated as a control for emissions during the aftercare of new landfills and for old landfills where biogas energy production might not be *** materials were studied as landfill cover system in lab-scale columns：mechanical–biological pretreated municipal solid waste（MBP）;mechanical–biological pretreated biowaste（PB）;fine（PBSf）and coarse（PBSc）mechanical–biological pretreated mixtures of biowaste and sewage sludge,and natural soil（NS）.The effectiveness of these materials in removing methane and sulphur compounds from a gas stream was tested,even coupled with activated carbon *** of CO2,CH4,O2,N2,H2S and mercaptans were analysed at different depths along the *** degradation was assessed using mass balance and the results were expressed in terms of methane oxidation rate（MOR）.The highest maximum and mean MOR were observed for MBP（17.2 g CH4/m^2/hr and 10.3 g CH4/m^2/hr,respectively）.Similar values were obtained with PB and *** lowest values of MOR were obtained for NS（6.7 g CH4/m^2/hr）and PBSf（3.6 g CH4/m^2/hr）,which may be due to their low organic content and void index,*** membranes with high load capacity did not seem to have an influence on the methane oxidation process：MBP coupled with 220 g/m^2and 360 g/m^2membranes gave maximum MOR of 16.5 g CH4/m^2/hr and 17.4 g CH4/m^2/hr,*** carbon membranes proved to be very effective on H2S ***,carbonyl sulphide,ethyl mercaptan and isopropyl mercaptan seemed to be easily absorbed by the filling materials.

Effectiveness of aerobic pretreatment of municipal solid waste for accelerating biogas generation during simulated landfilling

This study evaluates the effectiveness of aerobic pretreatment of municipal solid waste （MSW） on reducing lag phase and accelerating biogas generation. Aerobic pretreatment degree （APD） was determined on the basis of reduction in volatile solids （VS） on a wet weight basis. In this study, intermittent aeration （IA） was applied to three reactors as a main aeration mode; since a single reactor was operated under continuous aeration mode. However, the purpose of the experiment was to reduce VS content of waste, irrespective of the comparison between aeration modes. Fresh MSW was first pretreated aerobically with different aeration rates （10, 40, 60 and 85 L/min/m3） for the period of 30- 50 days, resulting in VS-loss equivalent to 20%, 27%, 38% and 53q4 on w/w basis for the wastes AI, A2, A3 and A4, respectively. The cumulative biogas production, calculated based on the modified Gompertz model were 384, 195, 353,215, and 114 L/kg VS for the wastes A0, A1, A2, A3 and A4, respectively. Untreated waste （A0） showed a long lag phase; whereas the lag phases of pretreated MSW were reduced by more than 90e/L Aerobically pretreated wastes reached stable methanogenic phase within 41 days compared to 418 days for untreated waste. The waste mass decreased by about 8% to 27% compared to untreated MSW, indicative that even more MSW could be placed in the same landfill. The study confirmed the effectiveness of aerobic pretreatment of MSW prior to landfilling on reducing lag phase and accelerating biogas generation.

Coronavirus disease 2019 infection has spread worldwide and causing massive burden to our healthcare *** studies show multiorgan involvement during infection,with direct insult to the *** of the heart function serves as a predictor of an adverse *** finding raises a particular concern in high risk population,such as those with history of preexisting heart failure with or without implantable *** baseline and different clinical characteristic might raise some challenge in managing either exacerbation or new onset heart failure that might occur as a consequence of the infection.A close look of the inflammatory markers gives an invaluable clue in managing this *** deterioration might occur anytime in this setting and the need of cardiopulmonary support seems ***,the use of cardiopulmonary support in this patient is not without *** inflammatory response triggered by the infection in combination with the preexisting condition of the worsening heart and implantable device might cause a hypercoagulability state that should not be ***,careful selection and consideration have to be met before selecting cardiopulmonary support as a last resort due to limited resource and *** knowing the nature of the disease,the interaction between the inflammatory response and different baseline profile in heart failure patient might help clinician to salvage and preserve the remaining function of the heart.

This study aims to analyze the factors affecting the costs of different logging systems, in particular considering three different bunching-extraction methods. Moreover the stumpage value of each plot was calculated, and a comparison analysis of the results is presented. The work was carried out in Central Italy, in an aged Quercus cerris L. coppice in hill zones, with a 45% average slope. Short wood system harvesting was applied. Felling and processing were performed by chainsaw, while extraction with three different methods： plot No. 1 with mules, plot No. 2 with a tractor with winch, plot No. 3 with polyethylene chute line. Transport of firewood from the forest track to the landing was made by a tractor loaded as a mule. In the plot No. 1 the costs per unit mass （30.76 ∈·t33% ^-1） were higher despite having the lower cost per hour （39.99∈·th^- 1）. The reason was the lower productivity （1.3 t33%·h^-1）. The plot No. 2 had the highest cost per hour （66.79 ∈·h^-1）. However, productivity was the highest （2.7 t33%·h^- 1）. This aspect was notable from the financial point of view （24.74 ∈·t33%^-1）. Plot No. 3 was the less expensive （23.92 ∈·t33%^-1）. Comparing the three methods, a reduction of the costs through more appropriate extraction systems may increase the stumpage value from 8.3 to 9.65 ∈·t33%^- 1.

This study aims to investigate wood density at different levels of moisture, basic density and shrinkage of timber from Turkey oak （Quercus cerris L.） coppice forests growing in Central Italy. We also studied the variability in density in the trees within and among sites. Density shows no significant statistical differences in the tested population. A higher variability in the shrinkage than in the density was found. Wood moisture is referred to as dry mass and fresh mass, which is related to many performance characteristics of wood, i.e., energy production. Trends in moisture and water content were studied because these physical parameters play an important role in the specific area of firewood which requires an accurate estimation of mass, volume and energy content. This work is a contribution to improve xylo-energy estimates of small and medium forestry issues.
