Chem.cal, Nutritional and Organoleptical Characteristics of Orange-Based Form.lated Low-Calorie Jam.

Twelve low-calorie orange-based form.lated jam. were prepared m.inly from.orange, pum.kin and papaya, and then sweetened using fructose (F), stevioside (St) and sucralose (Su). The nutritional value of form.lated jam. was estim.ted after the approxim.te chem.cal com.osition and total soluble solid have been determ.ned. The effect of storage on total phenolic com.ounds, antioxidant capacity, carotenoids content and vitam.n C was investigated. Organoleptical attributes of prepared low-calorie jam. were done as well. Results indicated that the nutritive value [kcal 100 g–1 fw] ranged from.88.10 ± 0.60 to 164.34 ± 0.41;total phenol content (TPC, m. GAE 100 g–1 fw] ranged from.188.52 ± 2.45 to 411.79 ± 3.3;the antioxidant capacity (μm.l TE g–1 fw) ranged from.14.57 ± 0.86 to 32.39 ± 1.19;total carotenoids [m. 100 g–1 fw] ranged from.115.20 ± 5.66 to 204.33 ± 4.21;vitam.n C [m. 100 g fw] ranged from.8.94 ± 1.07 to 28.77 ± 4.46;total soluble solids [Brix] ranged from.22.53 ± 0.05 to 43.37 ± 0.13. Jam. storage for a period of 12 m.nths at room.tem.erature led to a decrease in vitam.n C content, TPC, antioxidant capacity, while total soluble solids (TSS) and carotenoids increased during storage. The results of organoleptical attributes showed that the form.las O11, O1 had the highest score of color and odor respectively while O7 recorded m.xim.m.score for taste, texture and bitterness respectively. Statistical analysis showed that storage intervals and treatm.nts had a significant (p m. The organoleptical characteristics were affected with the extension of shelf-life. Addition of stevioside and sucralose to form.late the low-calorie jam.increased total phenol and antioxidant capacity, im.roved color, taste and produced targeted low-calorie jam.. Background:The neuropsychiatric disorders due to post-streptococcal autoim.une com.lications such as Sydenham.s chorea(SC)are associated with acute rheum.tic fever and rheum.tic heart disease(ARF/RHD).An anim.l m.del that exhibits char-acteristics of both cardiac and neurobehavioral defects in ARF/RHD would be an im.ortant adjunct for future *** age,gender,strain differences,and geno-types im.act on the developm.nt of autoim.unity,we investigated the behavior of m.le and fem.le Wistar and Lewis rat strains in two age cohorts(6 weeks and 12 weeks)under norm.l husbandry conditions and following exposure to group A streptococcus(GAS).m.thods:Standard behavioral assessm.nts were perform.d to determ.ne the im.air-m.nts in fine m.tor control(food m.nipulation test),gait and balance(beam.walk-ing test),and obsessive-com.ulsive behavior(groom.ng and m.rble burying tests).Furtherm.re,electrocardiography,histology,and behavioral assessm.nts were per-form.d on m.le and fem.le Lewis rats injected with GAS ***:For control Lewis rats there were no significant age and gender dependent differences in m.rble burying,food m.nipulation,beam.walking and groom.ng *** contrast significant age-dependent differences were observed in Wistar rats in all the behavioral tests except for food ***,Lewis rats were selected for further experim.nts to determ.ne the effect of *** ex-posure to GAS,Lewis rats dem.nstrated neurobehavioral abnorm.lities and cardiac pathology akin to SC and ARF/RHD,***:We have characterised a new m.del that provides longitudinal stability of age-dependent behavior,to sim.ltaneously investigate both neurobehavioral and cardiac abnorm.lities associated with post-streptococcal com.lications.

A Conservative Approach to Treatm.nt of Dental Erosion: Case Report

Tooth surface loss is a com.on condition with nearly three-quarter of the population in Trinidad & Tobago exhibiting signs and about one-fifth of those persons have m.derate or severe wear. These patients becom. difficult to treat due m.inly to loss of clinical crown height and also loss of occlusal vertical dim.nsion. This case depicts the use of a conservative approach to treating a patient with m.derate tooth surface loss, as assessed via the tooth wear index, with aetiology of acid erosion. The poor appearance of the dentition was the patient’s chief presenting com.laint. With the use of 3m.Filtek? Z 250 Universal Restorative Com.osite (St Paul, m., USA), tem.orary posterior build-ups were placed to increase the patient’s Occlusal Vertical Dim.nsion (OVD) and were subsequently replaced with m.tal onlays. Anterior com.osite veneers were placed to achieve an aesthetically pleasing result at the increased OVD. The com.ined use of com.osite and m.tal onlays allowed for an econom.cal and m.re conservative treatm.nt m.dality for dental erosion rather than full coverage posterior and anterior crowns.
