Recent years have witnessed an increase in the quantity of waste glass(WG)across the *** the fine aggregate with WG is one of the steps toward preserving the natural resources of the environment and creating low-cost *** present study is concerned with replacing fine aggregates with glass powder(GP)at(0%,15%,30%,and 50%).It has studied the fresh and hardened properties(compressive strength,tensile strength,hardened density,and slump)for all the mentioned percent *** findings have shown that all mixtures containing GP gave acceptable slump results within the design limits(2–5 cm)according to ACI standard *** has been observed that increasing the proportion of GP led to a decrease in the weight of ***,replacing GP with sand by 30%has led to an increase in the compressive strength by about 2.4%and 12.45%,and the tensile strength by about 2.5%and 26.54%at 7-and 28-d,respectively in comparison to normal concrete.

Work Boilers in the Real Heat Loads

Analysis was performed on the boiler for solid fuels in a corresponding real-thermal load. The tests were conducted with the use of a low-temperature top-loading KWSM water boiler. For control of the burning process, three control algorithms were used as implemented in microprocessor temperature controls. The analysis aimed at determination of influence of the control algorithm upon quality of the buming process in conditions of actual demand for thermal energy. The detailed analysis of operating parameters in relation to the variable thermal load of the boiler provided necessary information and made it possible to state that control algorithms do influence quality of the controlled process. Particular attention was paid to a situation, in which demand for thermal energy is decreased.

Objective To evaluate short- and long-term changes in quality of life (QoL) in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and to assess differences in patient QoL when using the TAVI transaortic (TAVI TAo) approach compared with the transfemoral approach (TAVI TF) and surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR). Methods Ninety-seven patients were assessed. Thirty-two patients underwent TAVI TAo, 31 underwent TAVI TF and 34 patients underwent SAVR. QoL was assessed using the EQ-5D-3L questionnaire at baseline, after one month and one year. Results Mean patient age was 80 years (range, 61–92 years) and the mean logistic EuroSCORE was 12.45%(range, 1.39%?78.98%). Declared health state at baseline was significantly lower in TAVI TF (P < 0.001) and after one month there were no differences between the three groups (P = 0.99). After one year, SAVR patient results of the EQ-5D-3L index value were lower in comparison to both TAVI patient groups (P < 0.05). The analysis also showed significant differences between the results of EQ-5D-3L index value over the one month and one year follow-up (TAVI TAo, P < 0.001;TAVI TF, P < 0.05;SAVR, P < 0.05). In all groups, the values significantly increased after one-month and one-year of follow-up in comparison to baseline value. Significant differences were also demonstrated between Visual Analogue Scale values (VAS). Conclusions A significant improvement in QoL was observed in all three patient groups. Regardless of the TAVI approach, EQ-5D-3L and VAS values were significantly increased after one-month and one-year follow up;the SAVR patients however, reported lower health status when compared to the TAVI patients.

Modeling of Raw Materials Management on the Example of Textile Production Company

The aim of this paper is to propose a discussion about inventory control and to present a new method for testing the control process in terms of uncertainty. The subject matter is modelling for optimal control that ultimately provides the basic parameters for the level of safety stock and the cycle of deliveries. An optimisation criterion is a function minimising the total costs of storage and production coming to a halt because of depleted stock of inputs. Considering the results of the study, it is found that appropriate management process of textile companies requires determining raw materials stocks and its costs very precisely. The stream management process in the enterprise includes an element of fluctuations in demand. This is the source of ＂a conflict＂ that appears in two sub-systems： storage and production. At the same time, a systemic approach to the optimal coordination of supply/production calls for effective management of the whole system. Implementation of modem information technologies is one of the factors that support the effective control.

The Possibilities of Determining the Effective Thermal Conductivity of Steel Rectangular Section Bundles Based on the Selected Literature Models

The article presents the results of calculations of the effective thermal conductivity kef for bundles of steel rectangular sections obtained for a few analytical models. This coefficient expresses the ability of the bundles to heat transfer. The knowledge about the values of the kef coefficient of the section bundles is essential to correctly identify the parameters of their heat treatment process. The quality of the Calculation results were verified by the experimental measurement data. These measurements were performed in the guarded hot plate apparatus. It should be noted, that none of the eleven analyzed models of effective thermal conductivity is suitable for evaluation of thermal properties of the section bundles.

Linear-regioselective hydromethoxycarbonylation of styrene using Ru-clusters/CeO2 catalyst

Hydroalkoxycarbonylation of olefins has been considered to be one of the most attractive methods to synthesize esters. Controlling the regioselectivities of linear esters(L) and branched esters(B) is a challenging project for researchers working in this reaction. Although most of the attention has been paid to control the regioselectivity through ligand design in homogeneous catalytic systems, study in the area is still limited. Herein, Ru-clusters/CeO2 is employed as a heterogeneous catalyst for the hydromethoxycarbonylation of styrene without any additives. After optimization of the reaction conditions, the conversion of styrene is > 99% with 83% and 12% regioselectivity of linear and branched ester, respectively. By using different supports(CeO2(nanoparticle), CeO2-rod, and CeO2-cube), three catalysts including Ru-clusters/CeO2, Ru/CeO2-rod, and Ru/CeO2-cube are prepared and applied in the reaction. Structural characterizations demonstrate that the L/B ratio is related to the Ru size of supported Ru catalysts. Further Raman characterization and NH3-TPD demonstrate that the metal-support interaction and the concentration of oxygen vacancy of the catalyst have a great influence on the Ru size. The mechanism and kinetic analysis for this reaction are also investigated in this work.

Pain and function deteriorate in patients awaiting total joint arthroplasty that has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic

BACKGROUND Elective total joint arthroplasty(TJA)procedures have been postponed as part of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)response to avert healthcare system *** hip arthroplasty(THA)and total knee arthroplasty(TKA)procedures comprise the highest volume of elective procedures performed at health care facilities *** To determine the demand for TJA despite the pandemic and the impact of surgery postponement on physical and mental *** We conducted a prospective cross-sectional telephonic interview-based study on patients awaiting THA and TKA at an academic institution in South *** questionnaire consisted of four *** first section recorded baseline demographic data and medical co-morbidities,the length of time spent awaiting TJA,and the patients’desire to undergo elective surgery despite the COVID-19 *** 2 and Section 3 assessed the patients’current physical and mental health,respectively,as a consequence of deferred surgical *** last section established the patients’perception of the healthcare system’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and necessity to postpone elective *** received counseling and education on the current state of surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic and associated ***,patients were once again asked about their desire to undergo TJA during the COVID-19 *** We included 185 patients(65.95%female;mean age:50.28 years)awaiting TJA for a mean of 26.42±30.1 ***,88.65%of patients wanted TJA despite the COVID-19 *** awaiting TJA for 1-3 years were 3.3-fold more likely to want surgery than those waiting<1 year(P<0.000).Patients with comorbidities were 8.4-fold less likely to want TJA than those with no comorbidities(P=0.013).After receiving education,the patients wanting TJA decreased to 54.05%.Patients who changed their opinion after education had less insight on the increased morbidity(P=0.046)and mortality(P=0.001)asso

The role of the coronary venous system was underestimated for many *** the last 20 years,a few percutaneous cardiology techniques in which the anatomy of the coronary venous system was significant were developed and are in *** most important seems to be cardiac resynchronization therapy,which is an invasive method for the treatment of heart ***,one of the major problems is the significant anatomical variability of the coronary venous *** description of the selected anatomical structures is only useful in selected cases such as,for example,the obstruction of selected vessels,a huge Thebesian valve,*** 3D images can add significant value;however,their usefulness is limited due to the different points of view that are obtained during intra-operational *** summarizing all of the articles andguidelines,it can be recommended that the visualization of the coronary venous system be performed in certain patients before cardiac *** best option is to use tomography with retrospective gating with the optimal reconstruction of cardiac veins that occurs during the diastolic phases.

Effective Management of Own Funds in Polish Cooperative Banks

Today cooperative banks belong to the most significant financial institution in the world. Moreover, they can compete with commercial banks. The own funds of the cooperative bank are important in their activity. The main goal of this paper is to investigate how much the level of the own funds of the Polish cooperative banks influenced their efficiency. The research pertained to operating cooperative banks in Poland. The following measures of the efficiency were used in the research： return on Equity （ROE）, net profit, index C/I, and financial margin. The results of the study indicate that banks from the Quartile III （highest aggregate own funds）, had the highest net profits, the highest ROE, the lowest C/I value, the lowest ROE, and the lowest financial markups. On this basis, it remains to be recommended that banks of highest aggregate own funds continue expansion of own funds which will increase lending capacity and subsequently contribute to higher effectiveness.
