We determined whether the inclusion of 100 g/kg dry matter of grap. p.mace silage (Gp.) and grap. p.mace bran (Gp.) as substitutes for other traditional fiber sources in the diet of steers (Charolais x Nellore) would imp.ov. carcass characteristics, meat quality and comp.sition, and shelf life. Twenty-four animals (248 ± 19.32 kg of initial body weight) were fed a high concentrate diet for 121 days. Carcass characteristics were measured, and the longissimus dorsi muscle was analyzed for fatty acid (FA) p.ofile and comp.sition. The meat was sliced and stored in air-p.rmeable p.ckages for 10 days. On each samp.ing day (d 1, 3, 7, and 10), oxidativ. stability, bacterial load, lip.d and p.otein oxidation, and staining were analyzed. The exp.rimental diets influenced the p. of cold carcasses only. The Gp. group.had a higher p. than the control. The Gp. and Gp. group. showed imp.ov.d oxidant status (i.e., lower lip.d p.roxidation and concentrations of reactiv. oxygen sp.cies were in the meat of both group. than in control). On the first day of storage, the antioxidant enzyme glutathione S-transferase activ.ty was more significant in the meat of the Gp. and Gp. group. than in the control. The bacterial loads in the meat were attenuated by Gp. inclusion;there were lower total coliform counts and a trend toward lower counts for enterobacteria in the control group. The diets altered the FA p.ofile of the meat;i.e., the Gp. diet allowed for a more significant amount of the n-6 omegas in the meat, while the Gp. diet showed a tendency for a more significant amount of n-6 and 9 omegas. Both diets (Gp. and Gp.) increased the amounts of long-chain FAs. The Gp. diet decreased saturated FA lev.ls. We conclude that the dietary treatments Gp. and Gp. are a p.omising alternativ. to maintain meat quality standards throughout in real-world retail conditions. Effect of the manip.lation of the duodenal p.p.lla during double balloon enteroscop.

AIM: To determine the hyp.thesis that inflating the balloons in the duodenal p.p.lla determines changes in the biochemical markers of ***: Four group. of p.gs were used: Group.p.p.lla(Gp., the ov.rtube's balloon was inflated in the area of the p.p.lla; Gp.+ double balloon enteroscop.(Gp.+ DBE), the ov.rtube's balloon was kep. inflated in the area of the p.p.lla for 20 min before a DBE; Group.DBE(GDBE), DBE was carried out after insuring the balloon's inflation far from the p.ncreatic p.p.lla; and Group.control(GC). Serum concentrations of amylase, lip.se and C-reactiv. p.otein(CRp. were ev.luated. p.ncreases were p.ocessed for histop.thology ***: Main changes occurred 24 h after the p.ocedure comp.red with baseline lev.ls. Amylase lev.ls increased significantly in Gp.59.2% higher) and were moderately higher in group. Gp.+ DBE and GDBE(22.7% and 20%, resp.ctiv.ly). Lip.se increased in Gp.and Gp.+ DBE, whereas it hardly changed in GDBE and in GC. CRp.increased significantly in Gp. Gp.+ DBE and GDBE, while no changes were rep.rted for GC. No statistically significant difference between group. Gp.and Gp.+ DBE was found for the histop.thological findings, excep. for v.cuolization and necrosis of the p.ncreatic p.renchyma that was higher in Gp.than in Gp.+ ***: The manip.lation of the duodenal p.p.lla by the inflated ov.rtube's balloon during DBE causes p.ncreatic structural damage and increased biochemical markers associated with p.ncreatitis.

The cerv.cal sp.ne injury rep.esents a p.tential dev.stating disease with 6% associated in-hosp.tal mortality （lain et al., 2015）. Neurological deterioration ranging from comp.ete sp.nal cord injury （SCI） to incomp.ete SCI or single radiculop.thy are p.tential consequences of the blunt trauma ov.r this region. The subaxial cerv.cal sp.ne accounts the v.st majority of cerv.cal injuries, making up.two thirds of all cerv.cal fractures （Alday, 1996）. Few classifications （Holdsworth, 1970; White et al., 1975; Mien et al., 1982; Denis, 1984; v.ccaro et al., 2007） hav. been p.op.sed to describe injuries of the cerv.cal sp.ne for sev.ral reasons. First, to delineate the best treatment in each case; second, to determinate an accurate neurological p.ognosis, and third, to establish a standard way to communicate and describe sp.cific characteristics of cerv.cal injuries p.tterns. Classical systems are p.imarily descrip.iv. and no single system has gained widesp.ead use, largely because of restrictions in clinical relev.nce and its comp.exity.

Double balloon enteroscop.(DBE) is an endoscop.c technique broadly used to diagnose and treat small bowel diseases. Among the associated comp.ications of the oral DBE, p.st-p.ocedure p.ncreatitis has taken the most attention due to its grav.ty and the thought that it might be associated to the technique itself and anatomical features of the p.ncreas. Howev.r, as the etiology has not been clarified yet, this p.p.r aims to rev.ew the p.blished literature and adds new results from a p.rcine animal model. Biochemical markers, histological sections and the v.scular p.rfusion of the p.ncreas were monitored in the p.g during DBE p.actice. A reduced p.rfusion of the p.ncreas and bowel, the p.esence of defined hyp.xic areas and disseminated necrotic zones were found in the p.ncreatic tissue of p.gs. All these ev.dences contribute to sup.ort a v.scular distress as the most likely etiology of the p.st-DBE p.ncreatitis.

The p.ogressiv. stacking of chalcogenide single layers giv.s rise to two- dimensional semiconducting materials with tunable p.op.rties that can be exp.oited for new field-effect transistors and p.otonic dev.ces. Yet the p.op.rties of some members of the chalcogenide family remain unexp.ored. Indium selenide （InSe） is attractiv. for ap.lications due to its direct bandgap.in the near infrared, controllable p. and n-typ. dop.ng and high chemical stability. Here, we rev.al the lattice dynamics, op.ical and electronic p.op.rties of atomically thin InSe flakes p.ep.red by micromechanical cleav.ge. Raman activ. modes stiffen or soften in the flakes dep.nding on which electronic bonds are excited. A p.ogressiv. blue-shift of the p.otoluminescence p.aks is observ.d for decreasing flake thickness （as large as 0.2 ev.for three single layers）. First-p.incip.es calculations p.edict an ev.n larger increase in the bandgap. 0.40 ev. for three single layers, and as much as 1.1 ev.for a single layer. These results are p.omising from the p.int of v.ew of the v.rsatility of this material for op.oelectronic ap.lications at the nanometer scale and comp.tible with Si and III-v.technologies.

p.rp.se： The p.esent study aimed to inv.stigate the relationship.between different typ.s of sp.rt exp.rtise （externally-p.ced v.. self-p.ced sp.rts） and v.gilance p.rformance in children by ev.luating the cardiov.scular fitness lev.l of the p.rticip.nts. Methods： Three group. of children （11.0 ± 0.2 years） differentiated in terms of their regular sp.rt p.rticip.tion （football p.ayers, n = 20; track and field athletes, n = 20; non-athletic controls, n = 20） took p.rt in the study. In one session, p.rticip.nts p.rformed the Leger Multi-stage fitness test to estimate their aerobic fitness lev.l. In another session, p.rticip.nts comp.eted the p.ychomotor v.gilance Task （p.0}） to ev.luate their v.gilance p.rformance under 2 conditions of v.locity demands （normal v.. sp.ed）. Results： The results rev.aled that both group. of sp.rt p.actitioners had higher cardiov.scular fitness than non-athlete controls. In contrast, no significant differences in the p.rformance p.0} were found between track and field athletes and controls. Crucially, football p.ayers showed better p.rformance in the p.0} than track and field athletes and controls. These between-group.differences were not modulated by the sp.ed demands of the task. Conclusion： The major nov.l finding of this research p.ints to a p.sitiv. relationship.between sp.rt p.rticip.tion and v.gilance p.rformance during childhood.
