The Weibull function,a continuous probability distribution,is widely used for diameter distribution modelling,in which parameter estimation performance is affected by stand attributes and fitting *** Weibull cumulative distribution function is nonlinear,and classical fitting methods may provide a not optimal *** the use of artificial intelligence by metaheuristics is reasonable for this optimisation ***,aimed and compared(1)the metaheuristics genetic algorithm and simulated annealing performance over the moment and percentile methods;(2)the hybrid strategy merging the metaheuristics tested and the percentile method and,(3)the metaheuristics fitness functions under basal area and density errors.A long-term experiment in a Pinus taeda stand subjected to crown thinning was *** to our findings,all methods have a similar performance,independent of the thinning regimes and *** pattern of the estimated parameters tends to be acceptable,as b increases over time and c increases after ***,our findings suggest that methods based on metaheuristics have a higher precision than classical methods for estimating Weibull *** to the classification test,the methods that involved simulated annealing stood *** hybrid method involving this metaheuristic also stood out,with accurate *** methods showed the poorest performance,and we therefore suggest the use of simulated annealing due to its faster processing time and high-quality solution.

A fluid dynamic model for a gas-solid circulating fluidized bed （CFB） designed using two coupled riser reactors is.developed and implemented numerically with code programmed in Matlab. The fluid dynamic model contains heat and species mass balances to calculate temperatures and compositions for a carbonation/calcination loop process. Because of the high computational costs required to resolve the three-dimensional phenomena, a model representing a trade-offbetween computational time requirements and accuracy is.developed. For dynamic processes with a solid flux between the two reactor units that depends on the fluid dynamics of both risers, a dynamic one-dimensional two-fluid model is sufficient. A two-fluid model using the constant particle viscosity closure for the stress term is used for the solid phase, and an algebraic turbulence model is applied to the gas phase. The numerical model implementa- tion is based on the finite volume method with a staggered grid scheme. The exchange of solids between the reactor units constituting the circulating fluidized bed （solid flux） is implemented through additional mass source/sink terms in the continuity equations of the two phases, For model validation, a relevant experimental analysis provided in the literature is reproduced by the numerical simulations, The numerical analysis indicates that sufficient heat integration between the two reactor units is important for the performance of the circulating fluidized bed system, The two-fluid model performs fairly well for this chemical process operated in a CFB designed as two coupled riser reactors. Further analysis and optimization of the solution algorithms and the reactor coupling strategy is warranted.

This work aimed to analyze the spatial behavior of plant formations and land use in the Ecological Tension Area Amazon—Cerrado. To this end, the Araguaia river basin was selected, in its low course, because it constitutes a physical-natural limit between the two Biomms, with intense dynamics of use and land cover Thus, in addition to researching scientific references and socioeconomic data from secondary sources, a geographic database was elaborated, with georeferenced data, and spatial operations are carried out. Among them, a supervised classification of land use and coverage, with multi-temporal analysis between the years 1984, 2000 and 2018. Thus, an expansion of 4.2 ha of Forest (Amazon biome) was observed on the savanic phytophysiognomy (Cerrado). However, the suppression of forested areas reached values around 21,700 km2, with direct conversions to anthropic activities, mainly pasture, about 71%. The results of the mapping compared with the data of the agricultural census show that the landscape of the Araguaia river basin, in its low course, is dominated by areas of pasture managed. However, public policies and government investments have fomented the expansion of agriculture in the direct bank of the river Araguaia, from 2000 onwards, and that the landscape of the left bank is dominated by pasture managed. Finally, it was found that the implantation of protective areas contributed to the vegetational regeneration of both biomms.

The timing of the decision for operation in Crohn’s disease is based on an evaluation of the several factors such as the failure of medical treatment, complications due to the Crohn’s disease or to the farmacological therapy, development of dysplasia or cancer and growth retardation. A complete evaluation of these factors should result in operation timed to the patient’s best advantage, achieving maximal relief of symptoms with improvement of quality of life. Given the complexity and heterogeneity of the disease and the different options for treatment, is difficult to systematize when the optimal moment for the surgery is arrived. A very important factor in the management of Crohn’s disease is the multidisciplinary approach and the patient preference should be a significant factor in determining the choice of therapy. The surgery should be cons.dered such another option in the sequential treatment of Crohn’s disease. We have analyzed the factors that are involved in the decision taking of the surgical treatment regarding to the experience and the published literature. When did the medical therapy fail? when is the appropriate moment to operate on the patient? Or which complications of Crohn’s disease need a surgery? These are some of the questions we will try to answer.

In the summer of 2010/2011 Chile suffered the third most severe energy and water supply crisis in only one decade. This may be surprising as the Andes which accompany the country along 4,200 km are a water tower and could provide more electricity and water than needed. On top of that, it has to be mentioned that Chile also counts with sunny and windy climates and with excellent geothermal energy resources and thus has a huge potential as far as renewable energies are concerned. After analyzing the existing natural conditions, the infrastructure and the present challenges of climate change, it has to be asked in which way Chile can make use of this potential in the near future, cons.dering the legal and political situation and the technological opportunities. It seems that the resources are still hidden in the Andes, and only the key is missing to realize the country＇s natural potential. This research has been based on the analysis of existing literature, media, quantitative data from government institutions and other antecedents obtained by the authors in field work done in the south of Chile in 2OLO. The added value of this compilation lies in the comprehensive perspective, linking the knowledge of climatologists, hydrologists, mountain researchers and energy experts in order to support a sustainable energy and water supply for the future in Chile. From this present research, it can be concluded that Chile necessarilyhas to adopt new energy-related strategies, particularly those aimed at diminishing the strong dependence on traditional sources of energy and establishing new techniques and technologies for generating electrieity and utilizing the vast potential that the country is ready to offer, such as that provided by the Andes along 4,200 kilometers.

It has been recognized that physical and chemical properties of biomaterial surfaces mediate the quality of extracellular matrix(ECM)that may affect cell *** nature,ECM is a heterogeneous three-dimensional superstructure formed by three major components,glycosaminoglycan,glycoconjugate,and protein,that anchors cellular compartments in tissues and regulates the function and the behavior of *** in the biointerface alter the quality of ECM and morphology through cell surface receptors,which,in turn,enable it to trigger specific cell signaling and different cellular *** fact,a number of strategies have been used to improve the functionality of surfaces and direct cell behavior through precisely designed ***,we aimed to discuss,through a science-based viewpoint,the biomaterial surface features on cell behavior and analyze the impact of cell physical modification on dental implant development.
