The expansion of the Internet of Moving Things(IoMT)leads to limitless and continuous working playgrounds exploited by highly dynamic end devices.This requires the adoption of multi-Radio Access Technologies(RATs)-based strategies to provide IoMT units with ubiquitous connectivity.To this end,the development of secure bootstrapping and authentication mechanisms is necessary to permit the secure operation of end devices.Given the transmission and power limitations of these elements,current cryptographic solutions do not address these stringent requirements.For that reason,in the study we present a Multi-Access Edge Computing(MEC)-based endto-end architecture that enables an efficient and secure authentication and key agreement between end devices and network servers over heterogeneous resource-limited networks such as the Low Power Wide Area Networks(LPWANs).Our proposal is based on the Authentication,Authorization,and Accounting(AAA)architecture and the recent Internet Engineering Task Force initiatives Static Context Header Compression and Low-Overhead CoAP-EAP.The results obtained from experimental tests reveal the validity of the proposal as it enables constrained IoMT devices to gain IPv6 connectivity as well as performs end-to-end secure authentication with notable reliability and controlled latency.

迷走神经支配人体的内脏器官,其传出纤维激活后可释放乙酰胆碱调节器官功能,而传入纤维能感知器官中机械和化学信号,并将其传入中枢,这种双向交流使得神经中枢能够反馈性调节器官功能。在呼吸系统中,迷走神经调节气道张力、血流供应、黏液分泌及呼吸型式。近来发现,迷走神经与免疫系统产生交互作用,在肺部疾病的发病机制中发挥重要作用,如哮喘、慢性阻塞性肺疾病(chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,COPD)、急性呼吸窘迫综合征(acute respirtory distress sydrome,ARDS)、肺纤维化和肺癌。在疾病状态下,多种细胞释放的细胞因子、化学因子和其他介质激活迷走神经,将免疫信息传到中枢,从而改变病程。激活迷走神经还可以释放神经肽调节免疫细胞的活动,并通过胆碱能抗炎通路控制肺部炎症,因此了解迷走神经在神经免疫反应中的作用对于肺部疾病的临床治疗有着重要意义。

Echocardiography is an essential tool in diagnostic cardiology and is fundamental to clinical care.Artificial intelligence(AI)can help health care providers serving as a valuable diagnostic tool for physicians in the field of echocardiography specially on the automation of measurements and interpretation of results.In addition,it can help expand the capabilities of research and discover alternative pathways in medical management specially on prognostication.In this review article,we describe the current role and future perspectives of AI in echocardiography.

The Institutionalization of Life Cycle Assessment in Mexico

This article presents a study of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) at a slaughterhouse located in north-western Mexico with the purpose of testing the premise of a low degree of institutionalization of Industrial Ecology in Mexico. The article aims at analyzing the current role played by the Mexican academia in increasing the degree of institutionalization of the concept of LCA in northwestern Mexico. There was conducted a life cycle analysis study according to the standards ISO 14040: 2006, NMX-SAA-14040-IMNC-2008NOM in a Federally Inspected Type (TIF by Spanish acronym) Slaughterhouse in the state of Sonora in Northwest Mexico. The slaughter process was characterized by observing the production tasks during several walkthroughs the production lines and by having short interviews with workers, supervisors, and the manager. The CH4 emissions were calculated using the guidelines suggested by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC 2006). The present LCA case study revealed opportunities for improving the environmental performance of the slaughterhouse by taking measures such as the reduction of CH4 from enteric fermentation since methane was one of the main greenhouse gases responsible for climate change. Although, the LCA generated reliable information in terms of climate change or water eutrophication, the chances of implementing sustainable initiatives were unlikely because the benefits to reduce the impacts to climate change or to reduce the water crisis would be unnoticeable and unaffordable for companies. Findings in this study also confirmed the importance of Mexican universities for promoting and conducting more LCA studies among private and public organizations in order to guide firms towards this tool. The case study here presented gives insights to LCA stakeholders in Mexico to implement or improve the effectiveness of their potential LCA initiatives through the identification of strategies, opportunities, and barriers.

Energy Audit in the Meat Processing Industry—A Case Study in Hermosillo,Sonora Mexico

The meat processing industry, due to its high energy consumption, needs to be assessed in an energy usage basis. This paper reports the results and implications of an energy audit in a meat processing industry. In addition, this work provides a comprehensive and practical approach to energy saving measures in the assessed company to recognize factors that can determine a possible transition to sustainable patterns of electricity consumption. The paper described the application to energy auditing, developed by AFNOR (2014) for efficient energy management along with ISO 50001 (energy management systems). For a more specific energy auditing the guide described by Dall “O” (2013) was used. In this case, a study of an integrative characterization of the company’s energy consumption is made. The research has been divided in two main sections: the first includes an analysis about the characterization of the energy consumption within a meat processing company in the three sustainable approaches such as economical, societal and mainly environmental implications;second, a proposal for strategic energy management measures focusing on high consumer types of facilities. The results obtained allow the identification of main processes with significant correlations in terms of energy consumption within the company. This data has the potential for energy savings. The data acquisition process prompts the development of practical and accessible energy efficiency measures. In addition, a benchmarking analysis with several tools is performed. Altogether, this work gives guidance on the implementation of energy auditing in industries within its geographical and industrial sector limitations.

We present the structural,morphological and photocatalytic properties of stretchable composites made with carbon nanotubes (CNTs),silicon rubber and Ni@TiO_(2):W nanoparticles(TiWNi NPs) with average size of 37±2 nm.Microscopy images showed that the TiWNi NPs decorated the surface of the CNT fibers,which are oriented in a preferential direction.TiWNi NPs presented a mixture of anatase/rutile phases with cubic structure.The performance of the TiWNi powders and stretchable composites was evaluated for the photocatalytic degradation of diclofenac (DCF) anti-inflammatory drug under ultraviolet-visible light.The results revealed that the maximum DCF degradation percentages were 34.6%,91.9%,97.1%,98.5%and 100%for the CNT composite (stretched at 0%),TiWNi powders,CNT+TiWNi(stretched at 0%),CNT+TiWNi (stretched at 50%) and CNT+TiWNi (stretched at 100%),respectively.Thus,stretching the CNT+TiWNi composites was a good strategy to enhance the DCF degradation percentage from 97.1%to 100%,since stretching created additional defects (oxygen vacancies) that acted as electron sink,delaying the electron-hole recombination,and favors the DCF degradation.Raman/absorbance measurements confirmed the presence of such defects.Moreover,the reactive oxygen species (ROS) were determined by the scavenger’s experiments and found that the main ROS were the·OH and O_(2)-radicals,which attacked the DCF molecules,causing their degradation.The results of this investigation confirmed that the stretchable CNT/TiWNi-based composites are a viable alternative to remove pharmaceutical contaminants from water and can be manually separated from the decontaminated water,which is unviable using photocatalytic powders.

Cardiomyopathies represent a diverse group of heart muscle diseases with varying etiologies,presenting a diagnostic challenge due to their heterogeneous manifestations.Regular evaluation using cardiac imaging techniques is impera-tive as symptoms can evolve over time.These imaging approaches are pivotal for accurate diagnosis,treatment planning,and optimizing prognostic outcomes.Among these,cardiovascular magnetic resonance(CMR)stands out for its ability to provide precise anatomical and functional assessments.This manuscript ex-plores the significant contributions of CMR in the diagnosis and management of patients with cardiomyopathies,with special attention to risk stratification.CMR’s high spatial resolution and tissue characterization capabilities enable early detec-tion and differentiation of various cardiomyopathy subtypes.Additionally,it offers valuable insights into myocardial fibrosis,tissue viability,and left ven-tricular function,crucial parameters for risk stratification and predicting adverse cardiac events.By integrating CMR into clinical practice,clinicians can tailor patient-specific treatment plans,implement timely interventions,and optimize long-term prognosis.The non-invasive nature of CMR reduces the need for invasive procedures,minimizing patient discomfort.This review highlights the vital role of CMR in monitoring disease progression,guiding treatment decisions,and identifying potential complications in patients with cardiomyopathies.The utilization of CMR has significantly advanced our understanding and management of these complex cardiac conditions,leading to improved patient outcomes and a more personalized approach to care.

Clipping and coiling are currently the two alternatives in treatment of ruptured cerebral aneurysms. In spite of some meritorious analysis, further discussion is helpful to understand the actual state of art. Retreatment and rebleeding rates clearly favors clipping, although short-term functional outcome seems to be beneficial for clipping, while this different is not such if we perform the comparison at a longer follow up. Longterm follow ups and cost analysis are mandatory to have a clear view of the current picture in treatment of subarachnoid hemorrhage. Treatment strategy should be made by a multi-disciplinary team in accredited centers with proficient experience in both techniques.

Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) is known to present with respiratory symptoms,which can lead to severe pneumonia and respiratory failure.However,it can have multisystem complications such as cardiovascular manifestations.The cardiovascular manifestations reported comprise myocarditis,cardiogenic shock,arrhythmias,pulmonary embolism,deep vein embolism,acute heart failure,and myocardial infarction.There is also an indirect impact of the pandemic on the management of cardiovascular care that has been shown clearly in multiple publications.In this review,we summarize the deadly relation of COVID-19 with cardiovascular events and the wider impact on several cardiovascular care areas by the pandemic situation。
