This study has two main objectives: on one hand, the evaluation of food items related to the food training courses in order to know which ones require better explanations from trainers and a further development and refinement by food handlers. It is also a goal of this work to appreciate the level of general knowledge of food handlers before receive any training session and then see if there was some improvement after the course. On the other hand, identifying potential social and personal factors of food handlers that influence on the results of the evaluation. To this end, two tests were performed (one before the training and at the end) and evaluated the results per modules. In general, knowledge levels both initially and after taking the course proved to be satisfactory. Personal and social factors determined better or worse scores on the basis of these.

PDA’s (Personal Digital Assistant) and mobile phones have become multitasking devices that provide an enormous potential in various fields, including HACCP. We have designed a record taking software in order to be used in small food catering establishments, like canteens or restaurants. It’s developed for Windows Mobile? for use in mobile devices such as PDA’s and Smartphone’s. It enables the creation of four types of records: -Reception;-Temperature;-Cleaning;-Chlorine level in water. It’s possible to export data to common file formats like .pdf or .word. An Android OS version is currently under development.

This study proposes a hypodermic needle(Hn)as a sorbent holder and an electrospray(ESI)emitter,thus combining extraction and analysis in a single device.A novel nylon 6-cellulose(n6-Cel)composite sorbent is proposed to extract methadone from oral fluid *** cellulosic substrate provides the composite with high porosity,permitting the flow-through of the sample,while the polyamide contributes to the extraction of the *** low price of the devices(considering the holder and the sorbent)contributes to the affordability of the method,and their small size allows easy transportation,opening the door to on-site *** the optimum conditions,the analyte can be determined by high-resolution ambient ionization mass spectrometry at a limit of detection(LOD)as low as 0.3 mg/L and precision(expressed as relative standard deviation,RSD)better than 9.3%.The trueness,expressed as relative recovery(RR),ranged from 90%to 109%.As high-resolution mass spectrometers are not available in many laboratories,the method was also adapted to low-resolution *** this sense,the direct infusion of the eluates in a triple quadrupole-mass spectrometry provided an LOD of 2.2 mg/*** RSD was better than 5.3%,and the RR ranged from 96%to 121%.

Fuzzy C-means Rule Generation for Fuzzy Entry Temperature Prediction in a Hot Strip mill

Variable estimation for finishing mill set-up in hot rolling is greatly affected by measurement uncertainties, variations in the incoming bar conditions and product changes. The fuzzy C-means algorithm was evaluated for rule base generation for fuzzy and fuzzy grey-box temperature estimation. Experimental data were collected from a real- life mill and three different sets were randomly drawn. The first set was used for rule-generation, the second set was used for training those systems with learning capabilities, while the third one was used for validation. The perform- ance of the developed systems was evaluated by five performance measures applied over the prediction error with the validation set and was compared with that of the empirical rule-base fuzzy systems and the physical model used in plant. The results show that the fuzzy C-means generated rule-bases improve temperature estimation; however, the best results are obtained when fuzzy C-means algorithm, grey-box modeling and learning functions are combined. Application of fuzzy C-means rule generation brings improvement on performance of up to 72%.

Deficient sleep quality (SQ) has been linked with a higher hospitalization rate and mortality in dialysis patients, however the prevalence of sleep disorders and their influence on prognosis in non-dialysis chronic kidney disease (CKD) has been poorly investigated. The aim of this study was to assess factors related with SQ in CKD patients (stages I-IV) followed in a nephrology outpatient clinic as well as the long-term impact of SQ on patient’s outcome. Between January and May 2008, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was self-administered by 122 patients (68 males and 54 females) with a mean age of 65 years. Patients were classified as “good” (global PSQI nd “poor” sleepers (global PSQI ≥ 6). We identified 66 (54%) poor sleepers (PS), characterized by an older age (66 ± 14.2 vs 57 ± 17.0, p nance (59% vs 26%, p nd worse renal function (49 ± 19.1 vs 57 ± 23.2 ml/min, p nificant correlation between phosphate and PSQI score (r = 0.234, p = 0.01), however no correlation with calcium or PTH. Vitamin D was also lower in PS (17 ± 7.2 vs 23 ± 15.1 ng/ml, p ntil June 2015, hospitalization rate was higher among PS (64% vs 44%, p n this period, there was also a trend towards higher mortality for PS (18% vs 16%). In summary, over 50% of CKD patients have poor SQ, which was associated with older age, female gender, worse renal function, lower vitamin D and higher phosphate levels. Deficient sleep was associated with a greater probability of hospitalization and might be a prognostic marker in CKD.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus(SARS-CoV)-2 infection induces an exacerbated inflammation driven by innate immunity *** cells(DCs)play a key role in the defense against viral infections,for instance plasmacytoid DCs(pDCs),have the capacity to produce vast amounts of interferon-alpha(IFn-α).In COVID-19 there is a deficit in DC numbers and IFn-αproduction,which has been associated with disease *** this work,we described that in addition to the DC deficiency,several DC activation and homing markers were altered in acute COVID-19 patients,which were associated with multiple inflammatory ***,previously hospitalized and nonhospitalized patients remained with decreased numbers of CD1c+myeloid DCs and pDCs seven months after SARS-CoV-2 ***,the expression of DC markers such as CD86 and CD4 were only restored in previously nonhospitalized patients,while no restoration of integrinβ7 and indoleamine 2,3-dyoxigenase(IDO)levels were *** findings contribute to a better understanding of the immunological sequelae of COVID-19.
