Aims Mechanisms of plant drought resistance include both tolerance and *** vulnerability to embolism and turgor loss point are considered traits that confer tolerance,while leaf abscission and deciduousness characterizes the avoidance *** these mechanisms are thought to trade-off expressing a continuum among species,little is known on how variation in the timing and duration of leaf shedding in response to drought affect the relationship between xylem and leaf *** the present study,we explored the extent to which drought tolerance differs between two oak(Quercus)species that exhibit different leaf shedding ***,we predicted that *** Trel.,which loses leaves at the end of the dry season(late-deciduous)and is thus exposed to a greater risk of cavitation,would be more drought tolerant and more conservative in its water use than *** Liebm.,which loses its leaves for only a short period of time in the middle of the dry season(brevideciduous).Methods The study was conducted in central Mexico in a single population of each of the two oak species,separated from each other by a distance of 1.58 km,and by an altitudinal difference of 191 *** deserticola(late deciduous)is more frequent down slope,while ***(brevideciduous)tends to occur at higher elevations along the *** assessed seasonal differences(rainy versus dry season)in native stem hydraulic conductivity,and tested for variation in xylem vulnerability to cavitation,leaf water use and leaf turgor loss point between the two *** findings The two oak species did not differ in traits conferring drought tolerance,including xylem vulnerability to embolism,leaf turgor loss point,or stomatal ***,both species had different performance during the dry season;the brevideciduous species had lower negative impact in the xylem function than the late-deciduous ***,seasonal changes in plant physiological performance

Three-Dimensional Conformal and Intensity Modulated Dynamic Radiotherapy in Juvenile Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma

Objective: Juvenile Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma (JNA) is a benign neoplasm with a high vascularity component, greater craniofacial involvement in adolescent patients, and aggressive local behaviour. In unresectable patients, radiotherapy is a therapeutic option for local control. Our aim in this study was to analyze the clinical benefit and local control provided by two modalities of radiotherapy: the Three-Dimensional Conformal (3DC) technique and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), applied to pediatric patients with JNA considered unresectable and non-recurrent. Methods: In retrospective study, the information was recorded from pediatric patients with a diagnosis of non-recurrent and unresectable JNA treated with radiotherapy at the Oncology Hospital of the National Medical Center SXXI of Mexico City, from March 2010 to March 2021. Radiotherapy management and its association with clinical outcomes of tumour control, and symptoms were assessed. In addition, an evaluation of acute and chronic toxicity was performed. Results: It was found that the median age was 14 years. 9 patients (37.5%) underwent 3DC and 15 (62.5%) VMAT. In terms of local control, and progression-free survival, we did not find significant difference between radiotherapy modalities (p ≤ 0.57). Acute toxicity for both modalities presented statistical differences for radio epithelitis (p = 0.03). Only Grade I and II radiation-induced acute toxicity was observed. Regarding chronic toxicity, statistical significance was observed for craniofacial hypoplasia, in relation to its absence in the VMAT group (p = 0.001). Conclusion: The VMAT presents improvements in dosimetry parameters that improve patient toxicity. In both techniques adequate tumour control was observed, however, the rarity of the disease is a limitation to establish the most appropriate therapeutic technique.

Can Brazil Become a Green Hydrogen Powerhouse?

This paper assesses the feasibility of green hydrogen production in Brazil. By green hydrogen, it is meant the hydrogen produced by the electrolysis of water by consuming electricity produced by renewable sources. The country has large areas with high solar irradiation and favorable wind velocities that help to make wind power and solar PV economical alternatives. Other factors include lower investments and lower grid integration cost with respect to global average, because of the large share of hydropower. As known, hydro plants respond well to the short-term variability of renewable production. Local regulations also incentivize renewable energy. For example, it is possible, according to market rules, for a hydrogen producer to sign a financial Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) contract with a producer or trader to secure a firm,font-family:Verdana;"> renewable energy supply for the electrolysis process. This market-driven factor, and other key factors, such as low price of electricity, are considered in an economic feasibility model. Results from this model suggest that Brazil could become a green hydrogen powerhouse for the internal market and potential exports to Germany and other European countries.

Background Diffusion tensor imaging （DTI） permits quantitative examination within the pyramidal tract （PT） by measuring fractional anisotropy （fA）. To the best of our knowledge, the inter-variability measures of fA along the PT remain unexplained. A clear understanding of these reference values would help radiologists and neuroscientists to understand normality as well as to detect early pathophysiologic changes of brain diseases. The aim of our study was to calculate the variability of the fA at eleven anatomical landmarks along the PT and the influences of gender and cerebral hemisphere in these measurements in a sample of young, healthy volunteers. Methods A retrospective, cross-sectional study was performed in twenty-three right-handed healthy volunteers who underwent magnetic resonance evaluation of the brain. Mean fA values from eleven anatomical landmarks across the PT （at centrum semiovale, corona radiata, posterior limb of internal capsule （PLIC）, mesencephalon, pons, and medulla oblongata） were evaluated using split-plot factorial analysis of variance （ANOVA）. Results We found a significant interaction effect between anatomical landmark and cerebral hemisphere （f （10, 32）=4.516, P=0.001; Wilks＇ Lambda 0.415, with a large effect size （partial η2=0.585））. The influence of gender and age was non-significant. On average, the midbrain and PLIC fA values were higher than pons and medulla oblongata values; centrum semiovale measurements were higher than those of the corona radiata but lower than PLIC. Conclusions There is a normal variability of fA measurements along PT in healthy individuals, which is influenced by regions of interest location （anatomical landmarks） and cerebral hemisphere. fA measurements should be reported for comparing same-side and same-landmark PT to help avoid comparisons with the contralateral PT; ideally, normative values should exist for a clinically significant age group. Hydrodynamic Study of Lake Enriquillo in Dominican Republic

This study presents an analysis of the hydrochemical characteristics of Lake Enriquillo in the southwestern region of the Dominican Republic. This lake is hypersaline and endorheic. The climatology of the region is influenced by the Caribbean Regulator Climate Centers (CRCCs). Due to the endorheic nature of the basin, evaporation plays an extremely important role in its dynamics [1]. During the study period, in November 2002, the water level of Lake Enriquillo was 42 m below sea level (BLS), and the salinity level was 104.2‰. By 2014, the water level of the lake rose to 29 m below sea level, and the salinity decreased to 23.4‰, as a result of the high cyclonic activity in the Caribbean region.

目的哮喘-慢性阻塞性肺疾病肺重叠症(Asthma-chronie obst ructive pulmonary disease overlap,A-CO)患者的生活质量较低,肺功能较差,病情经常加重。由于暴露于污染环境会加重其症状,增加发病率和病死率,环境管理对其至关重要。旨在通过系统性综述,寻找证据,以指导制订护理干预措施,促进ACO患者对空气质量的自我管理。方法2023年3月 ,系统检索CINAHL、Medline、Academie Search Complete .Scopus、WebofScience、Cochrane图书馆、乔安娜布里格斯研究所(JoannaBriggsInstitute,JBI)循证实践数据库,以及GoogleScholar。对纳人研究进行数据提取和综合,并对护理干预措施进行分类。采用JBI研究质量评估工具进行方法学质量评估。结果共纳入5篇来自不同国家的研究。促进ACO患者自我监控空气质量的干预措施包括:警觉性干预措施(医务人员定期巡诊、进行症状评估),监测干预措施(监测室内外诱发因素) ,教育干预措施(空气质量警报、避免接触过敏原),以及相关政策的影响,如无烟政策和改善空气质量的综合战略。尽管这些研究报告了不同的干预措施,方法质量也存在差异,但这些干预措施显示了预防患者病情恶化、尽量减少急诊就诊和住院治疗的潜力。这些关键点可作为护理干预措施的关键组成部分。结论有必要采取全面措施,让护士参与促进患者自我监控空气质量的多学科团队.提高认识、制订和实施护理干预,从而使ACO患者受益。同时,需要进--步开展研究,以扩大证据基础并完善这些干预措施。

Thermomechanical Behavior Modeling of a Cr-Ni-Mo-Mn-N Austenitic Stainless Steel

The analytical approach and the thermomechanical behavior of a Cr-Ni-Mo-Mn-N austenitic stainless steel were characterized based on the parameters of work hardening (h), dynamic recovery (r) and dynamic recrystallization (n, t0.5), considering constitutive equations (σ, ε) and deformation conditions expressed according to the Zener-Hollomon parameter (Z). The results indicated that the curves were affected by the deformation conditions and that the stress levels increased with Z under high work hardening rates. The σc/σp ratio was relatively high in the first part of the curves, indicating that softening was promoted by intense dynamic recovery (DRV). This was corroborated by the high values of r and average stacking fault energy, γsfe = 66.86 mJ/m2, which facilitated the thermally activated mechanisms, increasing the effectiveness of DRV and delaying the onset of dynamic recrystallization (DRX). The second part of the curves indicates that there was a delay in the kinetics of dynamic softening, with a higher value of t0.5 and lower values of the Avrami exponent (n) due to the competing DRV-DRX mechanisms, and steady state stress (σss) was achieved under higher rates of deformation.
