The sensing capability of a Tb^(3+)-metal-organic framework, based on its photoluminescence, was used for detection of methanol in ethanol fuel. It was synthesized using terbium and trimesic acid as a metal ion center and ligand, respectively. Powder X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and scanning electron microscopy were employed to characterize the synthesized MOf-76 structural features. According to the results, MOf-76 was successfully obtained with minor synthetic modification and its activated form(named TbTMA) was tested as a sensor for methanol. Tb^(3+) luminescence intensity increases as the methanol concentration in ethanol fuel also increases and the water content does not affect this response. Our findings indicate TbTMA as an appropriate sensor for evaluating ethanol fuel adulteration by methanol addition above the allowed limit.

Low-intensity light detection necessitates high-responsivity *** achieve this,we report In_(0.53)Ga_(0.47)As∕In As∕In_(0.53)Ga_(0.47)As quantum well(InAs QW)photo-field-effect-transistors(photo-fETs)integrated on a Si substrate using direct wafer *** of the In As QW channel was carefully designed to achieve higher effective mobility and a narrower bandgap compared with a bulk In_(0.53)Ga_(0.47)As,while suppressing the generation of defects due to lattice ***-performance 2.6 nm In As QW photo-fETs were successfully demonstrated with a high on/off ratio of 10~5 and a high effective mobility of 2370 cm^(2)∕(V·s).The outstanding transport characteristics in the InAs QW channel result in an optical responsivity 1.8 times greater than InGaAs photo-fETs and the fast rising/falling ***,we experimentally confirmed that the InAs QW photo-fET can detect light in the short-wavelength infrared(SWIR;1.0–2.5μm)near 2μm thanks to bandgap engineering through In As QW *** result suggests that the InAs QW photo-fET is promising for high-responsivity and extended-range SWIR photodetector applications.

Portal vein thrombosis is a common complica- tion in cirrhotic patients. When portal vein thrombectomy is not a suitable option, a large collateral vessel can be used for allograft venous inflow reconstruction. We describe an unusu- al case of successful portal revascularization using the right gastroepiploic vein. The patient underwent a cadaveric or- thotropic liver transplantation with end-to-end anastomosis of the portal vein to the right gastroepiploic vein. Six months after liver transplantation the patient is well with good liver function. The use of the right gastroepiploic vein for allograft venous reconstruction is feasible and safe, with a great advan- tage of avoiding the need of venous jump graft.

The role of rhizobacteria in rice plants: Growth and mitigation of toxicity

Allelopathic compounds reduce the growth and productivity of upland rice plants, especially in consecutive plantations. The rhizobacteria Pseudomonas fluorescens BRM-32111 and Burkholderia pyrrocinia BRM-32113 have been recorded as growth promoters in rice. This study was developed to understand the effect of the application of rhizobacteria on upland rice plants in consecutive plantations. Experiments were conducted in a completely randomized design with four replications of four treatments: rice seed inoculated with P. fluorescens BRM-32111, rice seed inoculated with B. pyrrocinia BRM-32113(both sown on soil with rice residue), non-inoculated plants sown on soil with rice residue(control with residue(WR)), and non-inoculated plants on soil with no residue(NR). Roots and seedling growth were adversely affected by allelopathic compounds in control WR plants. Plants inoculated with rhizobacteria P. fluorescens BRM-32111 or B. pyrrocinia BRM-32113 induced an increase of 88% in biomass, 3% in the leaf area, 40% in length, 67% in root biomass, 21% in chlorophyll a, 53% in chlorophyll(a+b), 50% in rate of carbon assimilation(A), 227% in A/rubisco carboxylation efficiency(Ci) and 63% in water use efficiency(WUE) compared to control WR plants. These results indicate that rhizobacteria P. fluorescens BRM-32111 and B. pyrrocinia BRM-32113 increase the tolerance of rice plants to stress from allelochemicals. There are possible practical agricultural applications of these results for mitigating the effects of environmental allelochemistry on upland rice.

The effects of rare earth addition on the glass forming ability of fe50-xCr15Mo14C15B6Mx （x =0, 2 and M=Y, Gd） bulks and ribbons are studied. The thermal and structural properties of the samples are measured by a combination of differential scanning calorimetry （DSC）, x-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Chemical compositions are checked by energy dispersive spectroscopy analysis. The copper mold casting technique leads to a fully amorphous structure up to 2mm only for compositions containing Y or Gd. In the case of ribbons, a fully amorphous phase is observed for all the compositions. The roles of Y and Gd are discussed on the basis of melting behavior analyzed by high-temperature DSC. Such elements act as oxygen scavengers, avoiding heterogeneous nucleation.

This paper introduces a new version of the open-source educational software, LESM (Linear Elements Structure Model), developed in MATLAB for structural analysis of one-dimensional models such as frames, trusses, and grillages. The updated program includes dynamic analysis, which incorporates inertial and damping effects, time-dependent load conditions, and a transient solver with multiple time integration schemes. The software assumes small displacements and linear-elastic material behavior. The paper briefly explains the theoretical basis for these developments and the reorganization of the source code using Object-Oriented Programming (OOP). The updated Graphical User Interface (GUI) allows interactive use of dynamic analysis features and displays new results such as animations, envelope diagrams of internal forces, phase portraits, and the response of degrees-of-freedom in time and frequency domain. The new version was used in a structural dynamics course, and new assignments were elaborated to improve students’ understanding of the subject.

This work presents a study regarding the contribution of inrush current to the occurrence of mechanical fatigue in windings of a power transformer and,consequently,the impact of that phenomenon on the equipment's *** order to perform the study,electromagnetic transient simulations were used to determine the inrush current in a three-phase transformer ***,three-dimensional simulations,based on the finite element method,were performed to determine the electromechanical stresses in the equipment windings,under the effect of the inrush ***,the methods of critical plans and Palmgren–Miner were applied to perform the fatigue *** the results,the impact of inrush current on the integrity of the transformer's windings was determined,as well as,to estimate the reduction of lifespan of the equipment due to inrush *** number of inrushes needed for the total reduction of lifespan of the equipment due to mechanical fatigue was also *** results can be used in the transformers design stage,with the purpose of assisting the evaluation of mechanical withstand of equipment,which can minimise the possibility of failure and increase its lifespan.
